What are yous guys putting for the "travel experiences" section of the secondary? Should I just write about real 'travel' experience (vacations, international volunteering,) or should I include the 2202939948 times I've moved as well? 🙄 baby's first secondary application here.

While I think writing about real travel experiences is safer, I don't think it really matters. I think they just want to see that you're an interesting person.

Is this waiver response supposed to be something that we don't want to see our file and if you say you do then they will think you aren't confident? Just confusing... never seen this on other secondaries. I already waived my right to see the HPAC letter from my school. Is this just the same thing but for FSU's whole file?

I just read it too, it's odd that they say your decision will have no impact on your admission. I was always under the impression that you have to waive....

Finally!!! EDP interview invite today!!!😀 Looks like first week of Sep.

bump... i dont want this thread on the last page 😀

Is it true that FSU accepts 9 out of the 10 EDPers they interview?

Got an interview tomorrow in the morning. Kind of nervous. Good luck to anyone else interviewing or waiting on an interview!

Where did you hear this?
I personally dont know whether this is true or not but I highly doubt it. I have never heard of any medical school with 90% acceptance of those interviewed, EDP or regular admissions.

Heard it from someone who applied EDP last year and didn't get in... she may have been bitter

Hey I'll see ya there! Actually I'm an afternoon interviewee...Looks like we all eat lunch at the same time though. Good Luck!🙂

Funny...some guy that interviewed in my group this past Friday was sporting dirty sneakers as part of his attire...

Anyone know when regular admission invites go out?

Anyone know when regular admission invites go out?

My interviewing told me they will begin interviewing regular admission folks on or around Oct 1st, after they are finished with us EDPers. So I'd say that invites should begin going out sometime before that. Hope this helps.

I don't know the statistics, but a lot of early decision people do eventually get accepted. Sometimes they just need to improve one specific portion of their app. My one friend had an MCAT that was just a little too low and as soon as she got her new score back was called within a few days.

Side note, the new dean of student affairs, Dr. Leadem, is an awesome guy. We are separated into 30 person "learning communities" and each week he has been coming to talk to each of us. Just like the rest of FSUCOM, he epitomizes the "student centered approach" deal. He is doing everything in his power to make the college more student friendly than it already is, which is saying a lot. If any of you guys get accepted and decide to go here, you will probably get a nice silent study area in addition to some other things. (The idea of a wellness center has been brought up evidently) We do currently have a silent study area, but it isn't the cheeriest place to be. Anyway, just thought you guys may like to know that. I'm still very happy I'm here and am excited with the changes/additions that have been made and are coming.

anyone who has interviewed, please let us know how it went!!!

👍. Students all seems happy and had great things to say about the program. During my visit I learned that FSU was designed with technology in mind, including an almost all digital med library. Students are issued labtops and PDAs which are included in the tuition. A truly student centered approach to learning is preached at FSU.

My interviewers were quite conversational, and I felt relaxed most of the time. I was not broad sided with any questions, most all came from my AMCAS app. I was asked "why medicine", "where do I see myself in 10 years", "what do I see wrong with healthcare today", etc.

My second interviewer went over my AMCAS very thoroughly and said they ask questions about any C grades or lower, so I'd be prepared to explain those as I was asked about a C on my transcript from 9 years ago.😉

I could go on...maybe some others will chime in.

Glad to hear it went well, Nuke1601! 👍 I'm relieved they offer the opportunity to explain shoddy grades from back in the day...Making straight A's was not something I had to worry about in undergrad.

Thanks...funny they asked. Out of 150 semester hours I can name all the C's and B's on one hand, the rest are A's.😛

I can count how many F's I've gotten in the past year alone on my hands and feet... 1.5GPA w/ a 17 MCAT - you think I've got a good chance here?

😛 I was more than happy to explain my C's on the USF secondary! Oops.

..Making straight A's was not something I had to worry about in undergrad.

Clarification: I am a non-trad that didn't worry about making straight A's in undergrad. Taken out of context, that line makes me sound like an a**hole.😳

Glad you said it. I know what you mean though.

The technology thing is kind of so so. I actually despise my PDA and have not touched it since it was given to us. My laptop melted down after a month and a half, so I've had a loaner. I was a computer person though, so I much rather have gotten my own things. I never really use the tablet feature much since my handwriting sucks. Also, if you lose that tablet they give you at any point then you have to pay the full amount back. That includes if it is 4 years after you got it. You'd still have to pay 1500 dollars or whatever it cost.

Oh, but I can talk about a lot of the tech stuff. I'm technically the IT/Library chair for the class. I was the only one that ran, so it wasn't really much of a competition. We're working on getting audio/video recordings of lectures up and running. For some odd reason they had a no recording policy before we got here. They are also working on making all exams and quizzes computer based. So far it has had a few speed bumps, but I predict by the end of the semester we'll probably be up and running full time on that, excluding NBME exams.

Hey guys

Just a heads up since I see some of you were wondering-

I did not apply early decision and was invited for an interview yesterday.

(I AM SO EXCITED)

I went to FSU for undergrad so that prob helped since they "like to keep their own"

I completed my secondary the day they sent it to me (i was a reapp also and def changed my secondary answers-same ideas just more concise)

They had my primary August 29th
Secondary complete August 31st
invited for an interview one week later

(also i thought this was weird, yesterday they told me the earliest possible interview date was friday. not much notice and they still havent responded to my email requesting a date in 2 weeks)

Good luck everyone!

Ahh truth revealed. I appreciate the insiders perspective, especially from the chief tekkie in the group.😀

I'm a little more on the bitter side about some of the things. I do know most people don't like the PDAs. We'd rather have waited a little longer or been budgeted a certain amount of money to pick our own. I know I will probably end up using a smartphone of some sort by 3rd year. I don't want to have to carry my cell, my pda and who knows if they require pagers at some of these places.

I'm glad we have an IT advocate. I know it must be a lot of extra work, so thanks so much for paving the way for us up-and-comers. 🙂 It's definitely appreciated!

beep beep... Where you at?!

I was kidding about the F's by the way 😀

Has anyone else (not EDP) received an interview?

I received an interview last Tuesday and interviewed yesterday! I liked the school even more after interviewing there. The college of medicine is really pretty!! oh yea, everyone is super nice too (especially the interviewers)

Congrats!
when were you complete? I've been complete since july 6th.. and still nothing 🙁

Do they notify you when your application is complete?

Yes, and you can check the status on the review page of your secondary application.

Thanks.
My status page just says they received my letters and it has been like that for a while now. I am just being impatient.

Were you the group that came into my LC with the quarantine sign?
