Congrats!
when were you complete? I've been complete since july 6th.. and still nothing 🙁

hey, i was complete around June 26th or 28th, definitely before July. dont worry about not interviewing yet, you won't be able to find out their decision till october 15 anyway so a less early interview means less waiting around, right? lol

mosspoh, i dont really remember a quarantine sign. i just remember liking that there were fridges in those lc's LOL

Yep. If you have nice people in your LC someone will clean them too. People forget about their food sometimes and it gets kind of stanky. The coffee maker gets more use by me.

When your app is complete, did yall get the "Application Under Review by the Office of Admissions" message on the online checklist or another message?

I've had that message since 6/28...I really want an interview!

That is what my profile has said since 9/4. No interview offer yet. Has anyone else with completion near this date gotten an interview???

Depending on the weekend, if any of you guys are interviewing on a Friday and want to stay the night and see other parts of Tallahassee then let me know. I'm sure I can show you around and set up some fun times with other first/second years. It is NOT an official college of medicine thing, so nothing formal. I just think it is important to have an idea of the entire area as well as talk with students in an informal atmosphere to decide whether a school is right for you. The school isn't just interviewing you, but it is also you interviewing the school.

Being a quasi-local, I can show you the Tallahassee rotation sites and other med areas, where students study off of campus, various areas students live and extracurriculars for whatever your interest may be. If I do that much driving then I may have you throw down a few bucks for gas though. 😉

Just PM me on here if interested. I don't like random facebook messages or anything right away.

I was complete last week, and really want an interview at FSU, LOVE THE NOLES! I went to FSU for undergrad, and had the worst dream last night that we lost the BYU game this coming weekend.. it was a nightmare

Losing to BYU is like being a premed, it'll be tough, but the payoff(being a doc/Bowden finally leaving) should be good.

Got the call today...hello class of 2014!!!😀

Heh, I went to the Miami/FSU game and cheering for FSU was the most painful/uncomfortable experience of my life. I went to PSU and doing the chop just felt wrong in every way, but I promised my friend I would.

Oh, and congrats Nuke. Enjoy your time off. 😉 I told you not to worry!

Congrats to those of you that already got accepted. Were you all early decision applicants or regular? I did not apply early decision; however, I have already interviewed. I think I have to wait until the 15th to hear a decision. Is that correct?

Anyways, congrats again. Hopefully I will be part of the FSU COM c/0 2014 as well.

When did you get an FSU invite/interview? Nobody's really posted anything on here that wasnt EDP.

Congratulations!! What did you do to celebrate?

Family took my wife and I out for a steak dinner and several cold beverages.

I still don't think I realize what I've got myself into!!😱 haha

I'm guessing the people who already have acceptances were EDPers...(I sincerely hope so anyway).

It won't hit for a long time. It took about the first 2 exams to really dawn on me what I was getting myself into. We have an exam Friday and I have barely budged from my little cubicle except for one lecture since 9 a.m. I'll probably go home and eat/power nap and study till 11ish again. Wake up at 6 a.m. and repeat.

I got an invitation for an interview on September 7th or 8th. The first interview date was on the 11th, so there is nothing to worry about yet. They interview on Mondays and Fridays so there has only been two days of interviews so far.

They can't make decisions until the 15th of October, so I guess if you get an interview before then you are early.

Good luck. It is a really nice campus. The program is different than anywhere else I looked into, but if you haven't checked out the campus you should. It is really nice. I can't wait until the 15th, this is my top choice.

Nice. Something is happening. Good, good, good.

Congrats! What were your stats and when were you complete?

I finished and submitted my secondary around the 1st of August; however, my MCAT score did not arrive until Sept. 1st.

My stats were decent....nothing crazy.

MCAT- 31N
Science GPA- 3.75
Overall GPA- 3.83

I think community involvement is a huge factor for this school: that is one of the reasons I picked it.

Good Luck!

I know FSU gives you a laptop and tablet or whatever, but do you return them after the 4 years like other schools?

Does anyone know why some people (no EDP) who submitted their app. in august or september have been interviewed already, and those of us who are complete since june/july have not?
ps I'm freaking out....:scared:

chill out and relax. this process takes forever so dont let it get you. FSU probably saw something in the other applicants that they like so they got an interview first. but there is plenty of time left. By January is when you get worry

Yes. They are talking about giving you the option of "buying" it for a nominal price if you wish. After 4 years, who cares though? If there is anything that warrants buying a new laptop, it is graduating medical school.

The PDA is the same deal. I don't even want to use mine now, so by then hopefully I'll still know where it is. During clinical rotations you are allowed to use other devices, as long as it has the required software and you can do all of your logs.

I submitted by secondary the DAY I got it. I had my AMCAS submitted the day it opened and all transcripts were in by the end of the week to put it in perspective. I didn't get called for an interview till the end of September when I was already accepted at 2 places. Just relax and let things roll. If it is REALLY long, like October/November then I'd call up. They are really nice and it isn't some intentional thing to anger you.

haha, I wish one of the admission requirements would be having to be a die hard noles fan, it would be sooo much easier for me to get in compared to the other people on this forum lol

But I really admire that you did the chop, i like your spirit, give it time and we'll see if you start to feel the inner seminole that's in all of us!

Only when bobby leaves. Also, need some variety and the marching chiefs need to play in tune. Just sayin....😉

I can't do that. Talk about betrayal.😉

Ouch! was it that bad, i thought they were good.. i seen some stickers on car and tshirts

Are you going to the USF vs FSU game? and watch my Bulls dominate. I would go but the tickets are expensive for my taste

Locus..I like you, and clearly FSU likes you, let's not get ahead of ourselves lol

Yeah I'd be worried I would lose/damage it and have to pay for it I guess. I'd just not take the laptop and PDA i guess, or put it in a safe somewhere

Land of the bulls? That's Chicago, mang... USF's more of a sickly green looking steer 😉

I think I completely messed up my chances for this school by putting "academic medicine" as my major career interest. So stupid. I have no clue why I was so dumb.

and - woot. 1000 posts. woot. Wish I could list it as an AMCAS activity.

One guy did, he said he was complete around 9/1...but other than that, none of us has heard anything back from FSU yet.

Oh, I missed that post. Thanks.

Am I understanding it correctly that virtually no one other than EDP'ers have gotten invites from FSU yet?

Wait... I did too.. that is what I'm interested in.. Why is that dumb?

I hope that doesn't affect anything, as I'd think that most applicants have little clue as to which specialty they'll choose by the time 4th year rolls around. Surgery was actually the most popular residency program for the latest FSU graduating class, trumping the likes of internal medicine for the first time in school history, I think.

I guess my concern is that this is a community based school and I think I gave them the impression that I'm not really interested in that. If I get an interview though I could really clarify it. Ah well.

Academic medicine = teaching as an attending physician. In fact, that one program they sent you an email about emphasizes that. I put academic medicine and I'm 👍 with it.

That is how I view it too.

I feel that academic medicine is somewhat of a broad term. It can be a combination of teaching, research, and patient care. It is a matter of how much time you dedicate to each and what specifically you want to do.

As an ex-music person living with music grad students I can say they are pretty horrible. All of the performance majors and grad students make fun of them since they can barely play a scale, let alone a scale with good sound. 😉

I forgot to get tickets to the game, so I probably won't be going to USF versus FSU, although it really doesn't matter much to me anyway.
