Dude I drove from Orlando the night before and it was brutal. Good luck with that!!! With that said, I'm waiting on Oct 15th! :luck:

I been there before so I know that i won't get lost. I am broke so I am trying to save as much money as possible after spending all my money filling those medical application. It only takes me about 4 hours to get there but I am leaving 6 hours before my interview starts just in case something happens that delays my trip.

😀. good luck!

Sleep on your way there if you can... worth the rest it'll be a long day. My strategy for saving money is gung-ho-ing and dropping the rest once I get into a top choice... and FSU was THE top choice.

Oh I can't wait for the hazing. It is going to be fun. 😉

As long as I still get to be a doctor you can haze til your heart's content 😀

Haze me with some FSU undergrad females... 😀

If anyone has questions or wants tips, PM me... my application process is officially over... I've got interviews to cancel and applications to withdraw. I'm taking a break for a few weeks from this website because it stresses me out! Good luck to everyone on here!!

Accepted! In-state. 😀

Congrats to those already accepted and good luck to those waiting!

Way to go! Be sure and celebrate...June 1st is just around the corner 😉

Thank you. I've been a long time lurker, but not many posts. I've been pretty superstitious and not wanted to jinx anything. Silly, I know!

Congratulations!! That's fantastic! I am glad that you were able to survive the application process with sphincter intact! HaHa. 🙂

Got an invitation to interview November 2nd. Can't wait!

Congrats to you all that got accepted. I also will be part of the c/o 2014. Probably sometime in March I will have to head up there to start looking for a place to stay. I would like to live with other medical students so that we are all on the same page as far as studies. I am not that familiar with the area outside of the campus so if there are other students who are in a similar situation and may need a few ppl to live with keep in touch. I'm broke as a joke and there is no way I can afford living by myself throughout med school. If others are looking to rent a house with a few ppl message me or keep in touch. I may even start looking over the holiday break.

Congrats again

Im interested too. keep me in touch on what you found. Im in tampa so I cant just drive up to tally to look for apts. FSUCOM does have free-housing for med student who got accepted for that scholarship. Its in the brochure that they gave you at the interview. You still have to pay utilities and internet, plus you share bathroom with others people. This is a turnoff for me since we are on the same schedule, mornings will be pack!!

Still no interview or put on hold :-(

Anyway, congrats to everyone who got accepted!!! That is amazing news, Tallahassee will be an amazing place to study medicine. After a long day of classes and studying, can go to the beach ;-)

I hope they don't waitlist me again I rather get rejected right off the bat then have to wait again.

Not really. After a long day of classes and studying, the last thing you want to do is drive 40 minutes to A beach and around an hour to one that is actually respectable. Especially since first year your classes are in the afternoon and morning has doctoring. 😉

You were complete pretty recently, right?

Give it some time.

I'm going up there in a couple weeks to get an idea of housing... thinking of moving into the area a month or two ahead of classes and getting "situated." PM me if you want to keep in touch about housing. Personally, I want a quiet 3br/2ba house or apartment with 1 other med student... absolutely need a garage or overhang thingy to get some shade on the ride... 3rd bedroom would be a cool office or play room.

I live in Ohio, so driving 40-60 minutes for a beach would be ok lol. Especially since its already getting cold as crap here, the beach and warm weather would make the drive that much easier lol.

Ya it hasn't been long at all, maybe a week or two. I know your right, just getting anxious lol. Really wish I didn't procrastinate on that stupid secondary essay lol.

I am in state, have my residency IN LEON COUNTY and am FSU alum. They invited me for an interview like a few days after my secondary was complete and I really thought I had a good interview.. this is like a slap in the face!

I am going to call Dana tomorrow and see if they want something specific from me/waiting for grad school grades or somethin...

CONGRATS EVERYONE WHO GOT ACEPTED ALREADY!

It is 45 tonight here. 😉

Seriously though, nobody really goes to the beach except on the scattered weekend. People have floated down some rivers more than going to the beach. You just don't have the time to dedicate 2 hours in commuting time to sit on a beach. This weekend you would've since it is post exam, but it was also like 55 or 60, which sounds nice but with the wind it is a bit brisk. (I grew up in Indiana and went to school in Pennsylvania..so it isn't some whiny floridian thing)

First year you have classes in the afternoon and most days the earliest you'll be out is 4, but they have a knack for throwing in a ton of other things into your schedule to screw that up. North Florida, while warm during the summer and stays longer isn't exactly beach weather year round like South Florida. We actually had a few flurries during winter break once here. My parents live by the water in Wakulla, which is the closest beach. It is kind of a depressing beach, but it is the closest. 😛

If you dont mind me asking, did you get rejected or waitlisted

If you dont mind me asking, did you get rejected or waitlisted

From the post, I gathered that the poster is part of the "continue to review" category.

When they explained it at my interview, they didn't mention rejections yet. They said they accept or keep you in the 'continue to review' for the remainder of the cycle.

They put me on hold, but since its rolling admissions you can hear a final answer anytime from now until the end of the cycle..

I have already updated them with volunteer activity, and that i am shadowing a surgeon, and i am thinking of sending another recommendation letter from one of my current professors in my grad program..

other than that any advice?
anyone who was on hold and was accepted what did you do!? I reallyyyyy dont want to wait till the end of the cycle!

From what I witnessed, if one was rejected it didn't really happen until after a post interview applicant pool was built up and they had some basis for comparison. Now, I am not involved in the decision process in anyway nor do I claim to know what really is involved. That was just what I observed as an outsider.

There were plenty of waitlist type deals that were usually dependent on grades for a semester or MCAT score. I was put into that category since I was pretty weak in the grade department early on. I also didn't interview that great.

Sounds good. Yeah I'm down in Naples so I've got a long drive too but my family may come down for the holidays and help me look for stuff. I would also like to look for a 3 or 4 bedroom house and have one or two roomates. If I find anything worth looking at I will definitely keep in touch. I don't know about you but I really don't feel like moving all my furniture 7 hours north of here, so I would like to find something furnished. I'll keep in touch though.

I apologize if this was asked, I did a search and couldn't find anything. For the secondary where it asks for institution where the course was taken, if it's AP credit but listed on my undergrad transcript, just list it as the undergrad institution, right?

From the original message I got that it was bad news. Thanks for clearing that up.

Maybe later you can write them a letter of intent. stating that you will matriculate if accepted. I dont think that will hurt your chances to give it a try.

good luck

Does anyone know if the status on the website ever changes?? for example, if you are not selected for an interview, or the opposite, or it just continues to say "application under review" until the end of the cycle?
Also is FSU starting to send rejection letters or do they just wait until the end of the cycle to send you something?
Thanks

The status thing should change depending where you at in the application process.

If you are waitlisted they will make you wait until the end of the cycle just in case if they need you. At the end, if they dont then they will send you a email. If you are accepted they will call you.

Once my interview was finalized, 'interview scheduled' popped up, then the day after my interview, an 'interview completed' line came up. I'm pretty sure they e-mail updates before the status page reflects them though.

The committee is meeting tonight to decide on the people who interviewed on my day.. My head is going to pop off waiting for tomorrow. :boom:

I want FSU SO. BADLY.

Sorry. I needed to vent before I did something that made my coworkers think I'm crazy 🙂
:xf: :xf: :xf:

I interview there yesterday. I have officially fallen in love with FSU COM! The interviews were very laid back and friendly.

It'll surely be a long day but good luck. My advice? Get off SDN for a little. I went crazy on the 15th waiting to hear, refreshing every minute to see if anyone had gotten in yet. FYI they updated my status page hours before they emailed.
