How did you win? I said by 4pm it is only 2:30pm. We also need to take into account CP time. So 4 really means 7pm LOL😍😍😍😍
I am thinking I am correct that we are only going to get notice via snail mail. I refuse to believe Howard would say around the 18th and on the 20th still no word. I have faith because I am faith.

Thanks for asking! everything is good. Like several other people of this thread, I've been delaying my other interviews because I would like to go to Howard. I hope they get back to us before thanksgiving...

Wow all my hard work it came down to this moment when I heard those words accepted I had a flash back on all I had been through to be in this position, and wow how it brings tears down my eyez! I mean, they interview through April. If scores come in by Feb, it's pushing it, but I don't think it's impossible. Did you get an email or something saying that this would be the case since you're signed up for the Jan MCAT? B/c if they sent you an e-mail, then I'd assume you'd be fine. If you're just going off your own guesses, I'd say call them. Do they even take Jan MCAT scores?

Yea, I called a few weeks ago just to inform their office that I would be retaking the mcat and I was told that I would be okay...

I just don't want to hurt my chances....

Well, imo, if they said it's ok, then it should be ok. The general rule is being complete as early as possible boosts your chances. However, if you're hearing straight from the horses mouth that it's fine you do that, then I'd do it. If anything, I'd think improving your scores should boost your chances, right? Just use your winter break to focus on those MCATs and bang 'em out of the park! I'm sure you'll be fine 😉

I'm pretty sure they will start interviewing they were busy with the acceptance process. Now that it is done, I'm sure they will start more interviewing for the 3rd round acceptances.

I have a similar story, JClass. I know where you're coming from, and that's only ONE reason that makes me want to be at Howard. I know I'll be surrounded by peers that come from where I come from, and truly want to apply that background to provide the underserved with an even greater experience and resources in healthcare. I'm so excited! DC is gonna be the BOMB!

wow! congrats to everyone that has been accepted. seems like the golden key is that interview. ms.walk...send some love to the detroit area. 😍 wishing, hoping, and praying for one. thanksgiving is less than a week away and i would be VERY THANKFUL for an interview. congrats again prospective class of 2014ers. y'all deserve it!!

oh, and ncgonefla, you were right about making that follow up call. i got the official complete email an hour after calling but i dont know how they knew it was me b/c i never mention my name or ID. lol. oh well, good sign though. 🙂

This is one of the hardest decisions that I have ever had to make. I am not exaggerating when I say I am depressed over this. I know that this is my last chance to attend a Black school, and I am honored to say that I am accepted to Howard. Like so many of you said already that we would be in an environment that celebrates our differnces. For the most part we know what its is like to overcome hills to be where we are today. We are trying to make a difference not only for us, and our families, but the community as well. Very rarely am I emotional because life has trained me to be "hard" but this really tears me up. I do not want to talk anymore about it.


😍I hope everyone is celebrating. We did it. I hope everyone gets good news if not here somewhere. class of 2014

while talking to some of the other black applicants on the interview trail it seems like most of the "smart" ones arent very interested in the black colleges. seems like some of these people have lost touch with what they are. i laugh

that's a rather strong statement...what about their reasoning (assuming they explained that to you) leads you to believe that?

well, if you threw a bucket of white paint on some of these people there is no way you'd be able to tell that they were black... i find it kind of amusing, cant wait till some of these people get their first taste of raw outright discrimination... wish i could be there.

I don't agree with that, a lot of people just stay at their public university for financial and family support. It is not an easy choice when you throw those variables into consideration. Example you can stay in your state and pay 20000 a year vs OOS and pay 50000 to 60000 a year.

not going to argue with you because i don't have to. I know what i've seen. Not going to argue because what they are doing doesnt bother me. It's their life. Was just simply pointing out what i observed. I guess that explains why Howard's averages are so low.
