Oh congrats, I didnt think they updated onestart that fast. guessI should start checking more often.

Congrats LadyGwennie! Could you see when it was post-marked? I've been lurking for some news from the school. I keep getting transcript requests but I'm not sure if thats a sign or just protocol.

Did you receive this as well?

I can check the post mark when I'm home later, I know that on the phone she said letters had gone out. I'm in town so I might get it quicker. I did get a trasncript request at the beginning of June. I tried not to get my hopes up too much at the time. My onestart has me as accepted, so you can always check that. I was convinced it may have been a mistake until I called the office and also got my letter. I must admit that I am grinning and still in shock. Thank you everyone for the congrats!!!!

I must admit that I am grinning and still in shock.

Congratulations.

So, they did say that multiple letters were sent out?

How long did they give to accept?

I didn't realize that OneStart is used to indicate acceptances. I am sure that a lot of applicants who are non-IU UG do not look at OneStart at all. What exactly does OneStart say?

Congratulations.

I was waitlisted in mid April, wondering if anyone else got their waitlist letter during that time and has been accepted.

trying to figure out if there is a correlation between waitlist letter and acceptance dates

I got my letter today. I live in Evansville, but was assigned to Gary. Not too happy about that. Anyone want to room?

I am actually from that area. It's not as bad as it seems. May I suggest living in Chesterton rather than Gary? You've got the Dunes (a beach!) and Chicago right there.

Anyways, congrats on your acceptance! I'm still waiting, crossing my fingers. :xf:

Oh, and if you don't mind me asking, what were your statistics? You don't have to tell me if that's too personal, but I was just wondering where I stand. I got a 29 MCAT, 3.5 undergrad GPA, and a 3.8 graduate GPA (obviously not stellar, but I'd just like to get a better idea of my chances if possible...)

I was waitlisted early May, postmark on my acceptance is June 23rd. Not sure if that helps.

For those of you still waiting through this painful process, don't give up hope! I got my acceptance yesterday so the waitlist here is still moving. My first acceptance and I'll happily go to the Gary regional campus that someone else apparently didn't want to 🙂

Consider yourself blessed to not only be accepted, but to be assigned to the Indy campus so far into the summer. See you in the fall.

Sorry if it seemed like I was ungrateful about being placed in Gary. I'm not! I'm just worried about living in a new place where I won't know the area (and won't know where it's safe to go). I'm so happy I get to be a doctor, and am hoping so hard for those of you who haven't heard yet (don't lose faith!).

As far as stats go, I had a 30 MCAT, 3.8 GPA, some shadowing, and some very interesting experience/research.

Good luck to all, and everyone have fun packing!

Congrats!!!!!!

Congrats to all that just got in off of the waitlist!
For those of you who got in last week around July 1st, did you get a phone call or was it by mail that you got your acceptance? Also, how long are they giving you to decide if you want to accept your spot at IUSM?

Thanks so much!🙂

I was notified by phone call and told letters would be sent out next week. I feel very blessed and grateful that I received Indy as my campus. I sincerely hope that all those still waiting get good news soon!🙂

I was notified by snail mail only for those who were wondering. The mail was postmarked on June 30th and received the next day by my parents in Indiana.

Hey PhoenixRising!

Yeah... I have not heard much lately either 🙁
There was a bit of movement towards the end of June/beginning of July.. but I don't know, trying to hold on to my last bit of hope.

Let's hope and pray for some goodluck next week!

Yea I can see there being waitlist movement at the beginning of August, just because people will get off waitlists at other places at the last second, opening up spots. However, as time decreases, the safest bet is to prepare for the next cycle. Out of a class of 280 at the present time, there may only be 5 people over the next 3 weeks that decide to not go or go somewhere else. Idk how many kids are on the waitlist, but it is likely that that makes the odds very, very slim for an individual person.

I just received a call that I got off the waitlist. aakdhfslkjas finally!

good luck to everyone still waiting

ME TOO! Where are you headed? Im going to gary and living at home and commuting (i'm originally from northwest indiana)

I am SO happy for you guys and happy to hear that there is more movement!!! I am from NWI too! You guys will be in the GI and it will be awesome, plus you can't beat the cheap rent 🙂 I really hope there is some more movement for all of the rest of us still waiting! :xf:

I've never been so excited about having no life for the next four years. 😛 I got a phone call this morning too (which I almost didn't answer because it woke me up and I didn't know the number )!! I'll be in Fort Wayne. I'm soooooo pumped.

HUGE CONGRATS sheikhyerbouti and Discipula!! 😀😀😀😀😀

I just got the call yesterday morning at work! I'll be at Bloomington campus🙂!!!!

Thanks everyone,

I was told the northwest campus added 2 more spots (which I and Discipula seem to have taken), they may have added spots in other campuses as well which maybe the reason why we are seeing some movement now.

Added? So, the total class size is getting upped? Last I heard (granted, March) the class was underfunded so they had to cut back on enrollment. Any idea as to how many spots got added and what happened to allow such a change?

I believe so, last I heard it was suppose to be 308, may have gone to something like 314

Wow really 308?? At the interview I seem to remember that they had wanted to increase to 322ish but had to remain at 280ish due to funding?

Where did the 308/314 number come from?

314 I just made up (from knowing they added a few more spots), the 308 I heard from many people back in march or april.

Uh oh! Are they affiliated with IU?

MUNCIE, Ind. — A transgender woman said she was ridiculed by hospital staff and eventually denied treatment when she went to a Muncie emergency room coughing up blood.

Officials at Ball Memorial Hospital said they are investigating Erin Vaught's allegations, which triggered complaints from advocacy groups.

"The irony here is that we spend so much time teaching about transgender issues at Ball State University," said Vivian Benge, president of the Indiana Transgender Rights Advocacy Alliance. "And yet there is Ball Memorial Hospital treading a transgender like this. It is so sad."

Vaught is a transsexual, someone who has transitioned or is transitioning from one gender to another, The Star Press reported Friday. In her case, it's from male to female.

Vaught said when she, her wife and son went to the ER on July 18, she was entered into the hospital computer system as male despite an ID that stated she was female.

"I pointed out that my ID says female," Vaught said. "There were two ladies there, and one of them snickered a little bit and covered her mouth. The other got a very annoyed look on her face."

When she went to the exa- room, 3he was met with stares and insults and was referred to as a "he-she," an "it," and a "transvestite."

Vaught said she was kept waiting for two hours without any treatment before a doctor saw her and said she couldn't treat her because of her transgender condition.

"I was confused," Vaught said. "I told them I didn't know my condition, that's why I was there. She said 'No, the transvestite thing.' She said I couldn't see a doctor until I came back with test orders from my doctor in Indy."

Benge said such reactions are not uncommon. But Vaught and her supporters wrote about her experience on the hospital's Facebook page, attracting the attention of advocacy groups including the Indiana Transgender Rights Advocacy Alliance and Indiana Equality.

The groups sent a joint letter to the hospital about how Vaught was "inhumanely treated, dehumanized and disrespected."

Ball Memorial spokesman Will Henderson said the hospital first became aware of Vaught's concerns on July 19 via a Google alert, and that a patient representative was investigating the issue.

"We take our patients' rights policy very seriously," Henderson said.

While the policy doesn't mention transgender people specifically, Henderson said it would apply.

"And, should there be any merit to the concerns expressed in the comments, the Hospital will respond in the appropriate manner," hospital president Michael E. Haley said in a post on Ball Memorial's Facebook page.

Haley said the hospital is "committed to providing care with respect, dignity and courtesy."

Meanwhile, Benge said the Transgender Rights Advocacy Alliance has arranged for Vaught to be treated at an Indianapolis hospital.

"We are trying to help her to regain her dignity and humanity," Benge said. "This is a very difficult kind of thing to go throueh."

do we think there is any more movement tomorrow? it is only a week before school so I'm thinking of solidifying my plan b!

Hope... There is always hope, but you should go through with your plan B now and hope for the best next application season. Weirder things could happen and people could not show up for orientation, but that would be not something we could bet on.

Good luck next year though 🙂
