Does anyone have a saved copy of the domicile affidavit? I submitted my secondary yesterday, and now I can't access the affidavit. I tried calling both offices, but they are not picking up 🙁

Hey I attached the signature page to this post. Here's the weird thing - it opens up fine through my phone, but I have tried opening it on several different computers and it doesn't work. Try different ways.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know any cheap motels near Tucson or Phoenix, or are there any students willing to offer rooming for a low price? I'll be interviewing Sept 22-23, and will be driving there the night before with my mom. Kind of tight on money, so any information is highly appreciated.

U of A website gives a list of nearby hotels on their website, but it's kind of expensive (>$100).

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Can someone clarify what they exactly mean by "how you can contribute to a discussion of cultural competence?" I have had a lot of experiences with people of different backgrounds (in a healthcare setting), but I'm a bit unsure what they mean by contribute to a discussion. Am I just discussing it, using my past experiences? Or am I saying how I have developed the skills necessary to provide culturally sensitive care?

More of the latter. Talk about your experiences and what you have learned/qualities you have developed that makes you more culturally competent.

I found a Comfort Inn and La Quinta in Tucson for like $44/night...which isn't bad. And they're both only 4 or 5 miles away from the Medical Center.

Can someone post UA's match list? I only saw the 2004 one, but I hear it's not bad.

This year will be completely different than years' past, so its impossible to know what will happen. In the past though, somewhere in the range of 30-40% of interviewees were accepted at one campus or the other. That's a pretty huge percentage considering that every applicant had been extended an interview invitation.

Anyone know if they are still interviewing all applicants this year?

Every IS applicant gets an interview. They screen the OOS pretty hard for interviews (or so I have heard from them)

Actually, it's not 100% IS get interviews anymore... I heard that it's like 80% or something. correct me if I'm wrong.

according to the msar for AZ resindets, 641 applied 553 interviewed...granted im sure some turned down the interview but id guess not that large of an amount. So im sure its not everyone gets an interview, but damn near everyone it seems

anybody know what percentage of OOS receive secondaries? still waiting on a secondary to come. Its been 2 weeks.

Still waiting to get my secondary :/

I don't think that the MSAR numbers can be very accurately relied on this year, given the change in admissions policy to allow for non-resident applicants.

Not sure about the exact %, but my AMCAS was verified on a Friday and I received the secondary the following Monday. I'm OOS with pretty average stats.

Hey so I think that prompt is old or something, my essay question was "How does your education, experience and background demonstrate your ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures?" Which I think is what they were going for with the cultural competence question but it spells it out a little clearer.. I actually had to edit my essay when I went to enter it because I had something specific in there about I am equipped to contribute to a discussion blah blah blah....

Verified 8/19 received secondary 8/24, OOS / below average MCAT

At the mock interview that I went to (which was put on my the school) they said that every IS applicant is OFFERED an interview...they might not accept but I don't know. There is the possibility that the person that told us was misinformed but that is what I am going off of.

I know that every IS applicant isn't offered an interview because my friend who graduated from UofA did not receive an interview last year...which was strange. But for the most part, almost all IS applicants gets an interview.

Oh my goodness this is sooooo awesome (the video). Am I the last one to stumble on this? www.medschoolhell.com

I can't believe it is from UA.

Correction: Derm x3 (4 applied, 3 matched)

Anybody know what floor we are supposed to go to for the interviews? they put the address but not the room/floor...

When you walk into the front door of the College of Medicine, you'll see a big sign that says Interviews for Medical School (insert arrow). Basically, as you enter the building from the main doors, take a left into the first hallway, and it'll be the room that says "Admissions Office". I can't remember the room number.

Just had my interview! It was a really low key conversational style interview. There were medical students EVERYWHERE that were telling you how much they love U of A...pretty fun!

Glad you found your way haha. That's what everyone told me about their interviews...but I had a very strange interview! It definitely took me by surprise.

lol were you there today too?

The admissions office said themselves last year that every IS applicant was offered an interview if their MCAT was above 22. Either your friend had a low MCAT, or she wasn't considered an Arizona resident. They have specific guidelines for residency status, and being a student at UofA won't qualify you as an Arizona resident.

He is an AZ resident (was born and raised in AZ) and has a 31 MCAT. No idea what happened.... He never called and asked as to why he wasn't offered an interview, so who knows.

I'm out of state and I just got an update email saying although they haven't interviewed me at the moment, they're still interested. So on hold basically

hmm did anyone else get an email that says "know your file is competitive and we remain interested in your application."?

Dear Applicant,

The University of Arizona College of Medicine is actively reviewing the high volume of nonresident applications for an interview invitation and, while unable to extend to you an interview invitation at the moment, know your file is competitive and we remain interested in your application.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as the season continues.

Sincerely,

Office of Admissions
University of Arizona
College of Medicine

i really dont know what to get out of this 😕

orly-owl.jpg
well you tell me you are a student there i was only guessing not speaking as if i knew 😛. At most id imagine they got like 2k? Which in the grand scheme of med apps isnt a lot when many get 6k+? If im wrong please let me know as i have no idea how they are doing this OOS stuff for the 1st time nor do i pretend to know 🙂

I didn't get their secondary app yet...ugh and its been over 2 weeks. damn they pre screen pretty tight or what? im OOS

Last time I heard they had already gotten over 1,000 OOS applications. They're used to getting about 600-800 applications every year (when it was only IS), so they have a ton of applicants compared to previous years.

I'm interviewing at Tucson on Monday. Anyone else interviewing Monday? What kinds of questions did they ask those of you who have already had the interview?
