Have you experienced the 105 degree heat? Bring lots of sunscreen if you get in.
 
Ways to survive in southern AZ:

1. Never go outside from 9am - 7pm May - Oct
2. Make sure car has good air conditioning and has a carport

Luckily, as med students, we'll be studying all the time indoors.
 
You guys are exaggerating. If you dont work outside it doesnt really matter. The part that sucks is never seeing clouds or anything other than the heat. Its really the autonomy. Kinda like Seattle people hating clouds. Seattle people have no idea how awesome that is. If I went to philly or chicago or something I would be worshipping clouds everyday they exist.

👍+1 :meanie:...seriously though idk how you know if you are complete, theres no status website, at least that i found. I submitted like 2 weeks ago or more and i have received no info as of yet.
 
i got my notice yesterday for a secondary and it said it would be available the next business day, but when i try to sign in now i get an error... i guess i'll wait a few hours

Don't worry, same thing happened to me too. It started working after 2 days.

they don't take online payments? i am submitting soon but if we have to mail anything can i do that before submitting the online app?
 
on the domicile affidavit, at the top they ask for a Student ID number.... do we have one? or should I just leave it blank? (same thing for the "semester intended" portion right underneath)

Phoenix campus is very holistic, in my opinion. Maybe that's what he means by being "like a DO school". We do rotate one day per week working at primary care practices and other weeks work on our interviewing and physical exam skills in a doctoring clinic with standardized patients. There's definitely a heavy focus on the art of being a physician.

As for being disorganized, I'd have to disagree. In general the school isn't really bogged down by tradition, since it's so new. We wrote our own oath, choose any topic we'd like and work on a scholarly project (research, health policy, public health, etc.), and have a huge focus on biomedical informatics. So, if you're looking for a school that holds your hand and ushers you to class, then UA Phoenix campus is probably not your school.
 
So just moved into my apartment in Tucson (for my senior year of undergrad...) and the 110 degree heat SUCKED yesterday moving at 4pm...i still love the school though...
 
Are we supposed to submit the residency affidavit and $100 to both Tucson and Phoenix if we applied to both?

I don't think so. I only sent my residency affidavit and fee to the Tucson campus or whatever address that was on the signature form.
 
Has anyone else still not heard back from this school about a secondary? I was verified 07/07 and haven't heard anything good or bad.
 
Has anyone heard from them post-mailing in the secondary? I think I might call them to make sure they got it...

i called them they said they had my stuff and i should get a decision soon, i sent my stuff in on like 7/31 or so. dont think they send complete emails or anything

Yup, for the purposes of applying, they're considered 2 different campuses.

So you might get one for Tucson, and then another one for Phoenix, 2 different dates.

I think I was complete 8/10. Good luck!

very unexpected. so unexpected I decided to make an SDN profile. might be because I went to undergrad east coast?
...at least I still got a Chicago interview!

Wow holy crap. Maybe they thought you would just reject their acceptance or something.
Yeah the invites were email, I think if you put both campuses for your interest you get them both. Kinda weird, it seems like they consider them two different schools.
I was complete last week

UA is NOTORIOUS for denying overqualified applicants that they think will matriculate elsewhere. I know someone who got into Stanford AND UCSF, and was rejected at AZ.

No lie, who knows what their adcoms are thinking.
 
so there is a possibility to get into one campus and not the other? or if one rejects you then you're completely out?

Its weird though, I just submitted my secondary on Wednesday (8/18) and they received my check, signature page, and domicile affidavit on thursday (8/19). And I get an interview the next day (8/20)?! I think that means they might offer automatic interviews for AZ residents? Im not complaining though. With a 27 MCAT, I will take any interview I can get 😀

Yes, you can get into one campus and not the other or you can get into both. You can still get accepted at one campus and get rejected by the other.

I have actually heard this too, but I don't know if there is any truth to it. I have a 35 and slightly above a 3.8 GPA, and I got invited to interview at both campuses. I hope they don't actually just reject high stat applicants, because some people may really want to stay in AZ regardless of their GPA. For me, I have lived in AZ my entire life and would like medical school to be my time to live elsewhere in the country, becuase I know I probably will come back after to be near family.
 
how long does it take to get their secondary? I applied a 10 days ago and I'm OOS.
 
Hey guys, how did you all abbreviate University of Arizona College of Medicine? I noticed on their website that they used "UA College of Medicine" but that is way too many words, and I need to cut my essays down. Is UACOM ok or did yall just put UA?

Hi, for those who have gotten an interview... How did you know when you they received your paperwork? Did they send you an e-mail? Thanks in advance!

I hadn't heard a single word from them until the interview invite. I was starting to wonder if they actually received my stuff, but there was no email saying you are "complete."

they dont send complete emails.
 
I got an interview for the Tucson campus. Should I assume I received it for the Phoenix campus as well? Or should I be expecting a separate email for Phoenix?

My email says:

They are separate. It is easier to just think of them as completely separate schools instead of the same school with two campuses, because they seem to do everything separately. I got my Phoenix invite after Tucson.
 
interesting that we dont have to apply to them separately on amcas! so just putting both on the secondary gets you to apply to 2 arizona schools? if so yay this make me more excited about arizona now 🙂

they ask u if u have a preference. you can say tuscon only, phoenix only, or something along the lines of both = ok. If u choose no preference or w/e id assume u are considered at both.
