Got that same message.

Same here. I wonder why they waited so long since a lot of our status pages said complete a while ago. Maybe they are just letting us know they have started to review files. I wonder how that person earlier in the thread got an interview already then?

We just discovered that the campus mail servers were blocking some of our emails going out to the applicants. Since they have now fixed their issue, we are resending just to make sure all get the email.

I love it when school IT guys come on SDN. Talk about transparency!

Thanks for the info. At least it isn't one of those post-secondary holds.

Just got the complete email.

Uh... dumb question here.

Was I submit the supplemental AFTER my letters of recommendation came in? I just assumed submiting the supplemental was separate from everything else.

OMG So I just freaking realized that I made a small typo in my supplemental that I sent out and is now "complete". Instead of writing "person", I wrote "personl". Is this the end? OMG!!!

You can submit the secondary before your LOR's are in to AMCAS. But they probably won't review your file until everything is in.

Correct. Applicants submit the secondary (essays) which includes the pre-reqs. Admissions office submits the LOR and fees status. Once all four are done, the applicant moves on in the process

yes. the adcom puts apps like yours in the "LOL" pile. at their meetings they all have a hearty laugh over your application and then throw it in the trash.

Has anyone not gotten a receipt of primary application email? I've been verified since 7/27, and its the only UC I haven't gotten such an email from yet.

for the fourth question...

"Is there anything else that you would like the Admissions Committee to know? (E.g. ties to UC Davis, the local communities, or the State of California) (500 char)"

.. did you guys write about your ties to CA or did you write about whatever you to highlight? because i can't tell if this is an indirect request for stating why u wanna be in CA or if it really is an open ended question. and i don't really want to write about being in CA if i'm already from CA and went to a uc.. seems redundant. =/

but i shall do what i'm asked!

I asked them about this. You can write about anything you would like to add. The UC davis ties is just an example.

Umm, I think one of the things this question attempts to do is establish whether or not you have any other binding ties to the school that would make you want to go there over anywhere else, say in SoCal. If you're from Sac, or you're from the bay, then ya...you're gonna probably want to stay near your family and friends. If you're already a great applicant, they can bet you'll receive acceptances from the other UCs too...what makes them think you'll choose their school first??

FYI, these are the courses they say they require on their website. I wouldn't say this takes precedence over the secondary, but it is worth considering.

The following college-level courses are required:
  • English: 1 year (Courses in Comparative Literature and/or Classics will fulfill the English requirement.)
  • Biological Sciences, lower division (with lab): 1 year
  • Biological Sciences, upper division (lab not required): 1/2 year*
  • General Chemistry (with lab): 1 year
  • Organic Chemistry (with lab): 1 year
(If two or more undergraduate courses are offered, the more rigorous option is recommended)
  • Physics (with lab): 1 year
  • Mathematics (college-level math): 1 year
(College-level statistics fulfills a portion of the requirement.)
AP/CLEP credit is not acceptable for prerequisite courses. On-line, electronic, distance learning or correspondence courses will not be accepted.
* Upper division biological science requirement can be satisfied by one semester or two quarters of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or genetics. Admission to medical school requires that the applicant have an understanding of fundamental concepts of biomedical science. Although a biochemistry course is not absolutely required for admission, it is strongly recommended.

I have a question. I took 2 math classes at UCI, Calculus and Biostatistics.... I only had to take one cal class because my AP credit from high school satisfied one of the Cal requirement at UCI... so now im kinda in a pickle. I only have 8 units math credit without counting the AP class, i suppose... so they really DONT take ap credit? does that mean I have to take another math class somewhere starting this fall??

I had a similar situation I have 1 semester of English from my junior college and 1 quarter of Writing from UCD. I have an AP English class that my JC put on my transcripts. I called and they told me I'd be fine. I'd recommend calling and double checking anyway.

Hope this helps.

Hi, Does anyone know if UCD takes AAMC fee waiver? If so, is there a code that I should enter when I log in to pay for the fee?

Thanks

Hmmmm, I did not realized you can submit you secondary without the pre-reqs page? Aren't they in one form.

I still need to take one more quarter of upper div bio before Jan 1 to satisfy UCD's pre-reqs. But I can't really indicate that in the pre-req page. Anyone have similar issues?

yeah i was under that same impression that's why i ddin't think much of it. but they're different parts of the supplemental. there's a separate "submit" button on the prereqs page. don't make the same mistake i did. =\

is anyone applying to the prime program at davis? if so how did you indicate this on your primary app? or do you tell them you're interested in prime once you get a secondary??

on the 2ndary there is space to indicate interest in rural prime, you write essays, etc etc...before the 2ndary tehres no real way to let them know you are interested in rural medicine unless you either have exntensive activities involving it, have lived in a rural area or had a lot of experience there, or made it a part of your Ps. any of which would work

Wow. My app was verified 7/16 and I have yet to receive a secondary. Anyone in similar situation? I'm starting to get worried...I thought it would be no problem getting a secondary from Davis.

me too!! i was verified back in june.. almost losing hope here 🙁

i've finished this secondary but UCI and UCLA have yet to send me one 🙁 and i'm a CA resident!

Dang it, I just realized I made this same mistake! The "submit" button was way at the bottom of the prereq chart, and I never submitted it when I submitted my secondary application a few weeks ago. Gah, I'm so annoyed with myself...

Thanks for posting the info, though! I never would have checked it if I hadn't read this thread!

i don't remember hitting a separate "submit" button for the prereqs, but i have all green checks... does this mean i did it?

Me too, ziggy. I will cross our fingers for both of us! Davis, LA, and Irvine are the only UC's I applied to.

When do interviews typically start for UC's, like Davis? September...?

Has anyone gotten a secondary that had AMCAS verified after 07/23?

My AMCAS was verified 08/03 and I received a UC Davis secondary the next day, at 5:00 a.m.

You recieved the secondary? Or acknowledgment that they received your primary? And are you in-state?

Experience section in the secondary:

does it have to be something brand new? I have entered every significant experience in AAMC, what now? should I just elaborate more on ONE?

well crap, my primary was verified on 7/27 and still not a peep from Davis (not even to acknowledge that they received the primary, like all the other UCs).

Its been almost three weeks, should I shoot them an email?

🙁 I just got an E-mail a few minutes ago about being no longer considered for the entering class of 2010. Don't they usually say they are sorry they can't interview you? They made the decision within 3 days of me being complete for my secondary... =/
