That's kinda weird. Either they're just telling you that so the dean can be the one to tell you, or they legitimately haven't made a decision yet. If the latter is true, that means they haven't accepted anyone from our interview date? 😕
 
i'm on the alternate list too and interviewed on the first day. 🙁

sighhhhh, i was hoping to get an acceptance so i could cancel other interviews.
did she say we could send in additional stuff, or are we only allowed to just send them an email telling them that UCI is one of my top choices?

there were like 40 people at our date, so i wouldnt say no one was accepted since there are what only 6 of us here? Anyways typically everyone accepted does get a call from dr peterson, so calbear may be accepted and they want the dean to tell him. Or no decision who knows. Thats just how its been done in the past.

Maybe, but I bet people would come out of the woodwork if they got in.

Last year I read that, at UCI, 33% of interviewed student's get accepted post interview, 50% overall.
 
come on UCI... don't drag it out any longer, its not fair to let half the people know and keep the rest to yourself!

haha after I posted I thought of that, if I saw you post or itsalovestory I'd probably freak too... sorry. I have a feeling the news is good instead of them just not making up their minds, but then why would they wait so long to call?

Didn't they tell you to call back today? Maybe you should? All they told me was to stay positive lol.
 
Hahaha, I'm sorry if I freak someone out with my posting!

I actually remember Gayle being very chill about phone calls during the interview day-- she said something along the lines of, "Yeah, I'll try to squeeze in phone calls whenever I get the chance to and hopefully within the week!"

Which probably means that we're waiting on pins and needles while they're taking this nonchalantly... it's kind of the So-Cal way. Let's not flip out! 🙂
 
the committee already met, and since WL were listed fast i mean you guys should know what that probably means🙂. Though i know id be freakin out too if i wasnt WL lol.

I could be mis-remembering, but didn't Dr. Peterson say that almost nobody gets rejected outright after an interview?

So some people get accepted, but pretty much everyone gets put on the waitlist to be re-reviewed later.

Did I imagine this?

nobody is rejected at UCI period lol. If you arent accepted you are WL at this point. Even later usually its a continual waitlist.

So if we are waitlisted this early...does this mean we might find out of a possible acceptance BEFORE the may 15th deadline, aka, they re-review our files and decide that they want to offer us a spot. or are they just going to wait until after may 15th ?
 
I called the admissions office and they told me we "should be hearing in a week or so." I'm confused.
 
I interviewed on 10/7 and don't have anything up yet, but Gayle told me Monday that we'll find out this week. I hate calling and asking because they just forward to me somebody else (could be Dr. Peterson) and that doesn't help much. I'm really not sure what's going on.
 
I wonder how many applicants become clinically insane before matriculation. It would be a very interesting study.

I think we'd be lucky to even find out this week. I'd call but I don't wanna get on their **** list since I've called so much. I wish somebody else would though who hasn't called that much or at all.

idk that unfortunately, though ill probably call the office or ask some people at the campus about it.
 
got a call from gayle at 8:30!!....aannd she was just returning my call from earlier and didn't know about my status. :scared: I guess she was working late but come on!!! I almost died of excitement when I saw the 949 area code. She was super nice, and apparently they are understaffed, so I'm not mad but its still hard to get my hopes soo high, i mean 8:30pm!!! ahhh

So she had no clue about your status? Did you specifically ask her when you might find out, or did you not even go there. Grrrrrrr so frustrating, this is the worst wait of them all.

Hopefully we will hear something soon.
 
ya I asked specifically, I believe she mentioned we'd hear by sometime next week. Though on a nicer note she affirmed that our positive suspicions may have merit, but wouldn't go so far as to say it was anything for sure...

Well that is slightly comforting. Im just hoping they aren't doing a multiple rounds of cuts thing.

So did all you guys interview on 9/23? Does anybody know if all this applies to people who interviewed on 10/7 too? I dunno if we all got reviewed at the same time or what. I'm hoping we'll find out this week or next week too...

Yeah most of us freaking out were 9/23. So they told you that 10/7 would hear next week too? Looks like they have a lot of work to do.
 
Is anyone else from an august complete date still waiting to here back about an invite? I've been "under review" for almost two months . . .

I think they know, but why wait to call if they know... so tired of waiting :shrug: lovestory did they tell you for sure by next thurs?

Yeah I love how they ask for your name, specifically look up your application, and then tell you to wait longer! And no, she didn't say Thursday as a date but she said you should definitely find out by a week from now.
 
Hey Lovestory, when you called, what did they say the status of your app was. Did they say no decision was made, or did she say that she couldn't tell you?
Damn this is lame.
