Let's not get too excited... rejections weren't posted yet either.

Rejections won't be posted ever. If people have been waitlisted from your interview day and your status page is still unchanged that is VERY VERY good sign. Its obvioulsy not gauranteed, but last year i had this theory and i was right every single time. THey waitlist very quickly. If you are accepted, your status is unchanged until you get that phone call. So if you are still unchanged status then take a breath, you are probably in.

I could be mis-remembering, but didn't Dr. Peterson say that almost nobody gets rejected outright after an interview?

So some people get accepted, but pretty much everyone gets put on the waitlist to be re-reviewed later.

No you did not. There are no post interview rejections. Acceptance or waitlist.

So if we are waitlisted this early...does this mean we might find out of a possible acceptance BEFORE the may 15th deadline, aka, they re-review our files and decide that they want to offer us a spot. or are they just going to wait until after may 15th ?

No, you just have a really really long wait. Sorry 🙁

yay good to know i am not alone. i have been "decision pending" for the last six weeks. so you may have a long wait coming. I called the school three weeks ago to express my strong interest and ask about what that meant. no clear answer and still nothing.

i am just happy it's not a rejection.

I'm still pending review 🙁. Complete mid-September.

Decision pending to me is a scary message. That's the status I had at VCU before getting rejected.

None of that talk! Most of of the class is taken from the waitlist. Its exactly that kind of attitude that will allow your app to float away in to the dust pile. If you want to go to UCI you need to show them. No pity parties. Take action. Write them a letter of intent to show them why you want to go here. Send them new LORs, tell them how f*ckin awesome you are and what they missed during the interview. These things make a HUGE difference. You dont need to bombard them all at once, you can spread it out over months. These acts will act as friendly reminders that you are interested in their school and they will make a difference. I promsise.

I just checked my status page and noticed for the first time a "student ID" under the AAMC ID. Does everyone have that? Its probably been there the whole time but just in case...

I think it has been there a while for me. Even before I interviewed. I remember during the interview day, there was a student ID section on some of the forms and heard other people say that it was the number on our status pages.

Know what would be WAY better than reading into every detail of the status page is if Irvine would pick up the phone and FREAKING CALL ALREADY. lol

They call at random times. I was called saturday afternoon. They may call you Sunday evening, Sunday morning....really all times of the day on any day of the week.

So I have a NY trip next week that I would cancel if the UCI news was good. I called today to tell them that my full refund cancel date was this week. She basically told me that they were finalizing decisions and that we would find out latest by end of the week. It was kind of odd how long the pause was when she pulled up my file. Hopefully RySerr's theory holds up.

Play it cool. No need to send anything unless you have been denied an interview or secondary. I know its hard but try not to be impatient. Pending review does NOT mean "waiting to reject you." Dont be pessimistic. If you DO get denied interview THEN you send in the troops - more LORs, letter of intent, explanation as to why you are so awesome and they made a mistake. Sounds like a long shot, BUT IT WORKS. They want kids that are enthusiastic about coming to their school. I know a handful of students in my class who were initially denied interview or even a secondary.


Nane - sorry about the delayed waitlist! My theory has been proven wrong, altho i did warn to take my theory with caution! Seems to be a "general" rule.

out of curiousity now that it appears that being blank isnt an acceptance..does it mean those who were waitlisted asap on the 1st day (me and others) were not as "competitive" persay as say someone like nane who was blank for a while and just now WL? Or is it more like they could in no way view all 40 or so applicants in one committee meeting so it just happened nane and others were not reviewed 1st? Or am i just reading too much into nothing? lol
