Thanks. I was asking so that i can figure out the waitlist movement, it's 1/6 of the total interviewed so about 80....my status is still blank and fingers still crossed

I just got my interview invite yesterday, after 2 months of being complete. So for all those still waiting, good luck andkeep your fingers crossed 🙂
I was wondering.. not to sound stupid.. but where's this Statement of Legal Residence Form?.. We are supposed to complete and turn it in on the day of the interview.. but I can't find it anywhere.. I still have awhile before my interview in January.. but I guess I'm just anxious 🙂

Question for y'all:
This is my absolute top choice school. I interviewed here last year, was waitlisted, but didn't make the cut. 🙁 I'm still "Pending Review" this year and just past the 2 month mark from being complete with no interview invite yet. I'm getting really antsy/nervous. Should I send a letter of interest? I don't have much to update at this point because my fall grades aren't out yet and my activities haven't changed much since I submitted AMCAS. I did get a new job but I've only been working there since beginning of October. Could sending a letter detailing my undying devotion to this school help? Advice?

You give me hope =]. I was completed 2 months ago too, and I'm starting to despair. I guess I'll just keep waiting... only UC that hasn't given me a response yet...

your interviewers only have the basic information before and after you interview (demographics, activities, essays)

I would definitely send in your fall grades when they come out. Did you also have letter of recs from all of your pertinent activities? that is very important. G'luck and hang in there! there is so much time left.
I'm not sure where the statement of legal residence form is, but they should have given you directions for where to find it--I think it's on the UCI website somewhere.
For your interview-be yourself, be real! 🙂 let your awesomeness shine through.
also--the night before your interview there will be an organized pre-interview dinner through admissions so you can hang out with other interviewees and med students.

I'm pretty sure that the interviewers have everything (essays, recommendations, application, activities, secondary) but not your numbers (GPA, MCAT).
Hey guys....the interviewers will see your essays, activities, and demographics but they do not have your recommendations, or any numbers!

Yes, Confusedchild, don't worry. I didn't really expect to hear from UCI, and I haven't heard from the other 2 UCs I applied to.. 🙂 So don't lose hope! I'm sure you're a great candidate and will hear from them soon! 🙂 Good luck! :]

Thank you IheartUCI! I went back to reading the instructions..and I can now click on the "Statement of Legal Residence Form" and have access to the file 🙂 (lol.. although I'm pretty sure I couldn't before :])
For the night before my interview, does it mean that I can stay with a medical student, even if I'm an in-state applicant? I'd love to do that.. but I was afraid it's only reserved for out-of-state.

I have a question for those who have received interview invites. Did your status change from pending review to decision pending before you got the invite. I ask because my status has been pending review for quite some time and I was wondering if the adcom just hasn't gotten to my app yet or if they have looked at it and just havent yet made a decision. Thanks in advance for any responses!

I interviewed last year and I can tell you that your status doesn't change prior to receiving an interview. It just goes straight from "Pending Review" to being granted an interview with a link to schedule it.

anyone is eligible to stay with a student! You should totally do it 🙂 Then you can come a day early and get a free meal that night and meet other applicants and med students!

correct
i'm curious to hear from people who have gone to the pre-interview dinner about how useful they found it. if i choose not to attend is there time on interview day to interact with students?

the only other med student contact you will have is with your student interviewer. (that was my experience at least) i liked the dinner a lot, the students who put it together are really nice and you get to hear about their life at uci med from a number of people. its very relaxed and i recommend doing it if you have the time.

Do it. It was good pizza and a great opportunity to hang out with the med students and other interviewees. It was one of my favorite parts of the UCI interview.
Of course you an stay with a student! most of our interviewees are in state 🙂 we have 2 MS1's who organize all that, so just get their emails, give them your interview date, and they will set it up for you 🙂 GOOD LUCK!!!!
Just checked my status and interview status = denied. I am sad because I want to stay in California... also surprised given that I have interviewed and been accepted at much more competitive schools that uci... =(

What other schools have you gotten into? California is a different type of difficulty, I'm sure that if you try real hard the state will let you back in, however i hear once you leave CA there is no returning....no soup for you.

what pre-interview dinner? i never heard anything about it...?
you will get an email about a week before your interview inviting you to dinner at Gina's pizza usually (sometimes it's at another place). It's at 7 pm the night before 🙂 it's a lot of fun you should go!

It's like when you get rejected and say oh well i didn't really want to go there anyways
seriously. I dont understand why people on here are as arorgant to think that if they get say a UCSF acceptance or cornell that all cali schools and others below them need to fall in line. If UCI is so lowly for you then you should move onto your higher rankings and be happy 🙂

An acceptance at Harvard doesnt mean you are automatically accepted at every school in the U.S. Thats not how it works. School X doesn't care about your application at school Y. They care about your app in relation to the students that they are looking for to enter their class. For whatever reason, they felt that wasn't you. Now, if you really are interested in UCI, its not over. You can write a letter of appeal. It may seem like a long shot, but it does work. There are a handful of people in my class that did just that last year after pre-interview rejections.

Hey IHeartSleep, if you fall into any of the URM categories (or filipino) then you probably will be invited to the Diversity Coalition dinner. If that is the case, I would definitely try to go. It was AWESOME. Before my interview everyone was talking avout Gina's Pizza and I wasnt invited and was so confused.
If you dont fall into URM then, maybe they just havent sent the emails out yet. Either way, you should make it to the pre- interview dinner.
