i did my undergrad here and lived in verano. My advice dont ever live in verano unless you have kids/want to be cheap. Even then palo verde also offers family housing. Veranos housing isnt very nice and doesnt offer a lot though they are the cheapest on campus (for a reason i might add). VdC is nice i knew a lot in undergrad who lived here. And puerta del sol are brand new so i dont know anyone whos lived there but i imagine they are nice though will likely be the most expensive ones. All of them are fairly close to campus and you could easily bike to class fast. If you want to live off campus there are a lot of options that are a bit cheaper in newport and elsewhere depending on how far you wanted to drive. For undergrad a lot live in newport but for the med school i think ryserr lives off campus he could probably tell you where. If i decided to attend UCI, i would choose vdc or puerta if you want on campus housing.

Most of the students in my class lived at Palo Verde or VDC. VDC is a little more expensive but has amenities like a dishwasher and a laundry machine in the apartment. PV actually has larger rooms than VDC, but is a little older. Verano is older and cheaper, but some people do live there and I feel as though it adds a more "home-like" atmosphere. Your interpretation of that may vary. Puerta del Sol is new so I have very little input, however it is owned by the same company as VDC. All are very close to campus.
 
How long does it take for them to update my status once I turned in my intent to register form?

I mailed it last Saturday using the envelope that they provided. Anyone?
Should I start calling and bugging them?

Took them about 2 weeks for me. They only get mail twice a week at the office so I would wait a little bit longer.

Someone asked this same question at second look and they weren't able to give us an exact number. Said we would find out for certain when we get the tickets in the mail. However, Barclay Theater seats 750, and there are 104 of us. You can get a very rough estimate that way. Also if you end up needing more tickets, it should be pretty easy to find a fellow student with extras.

I called the office sometime last week and was told that we would be allotted approx. 6 tickets per student. I'm not sure if that is a final count, but my understanding is that the invites should be coming in the mail sometime July.
 
Anyone figured out how to get their uci email address, register for classes, pay fees online, etc?

On a side note, Dr. Peterson is out of the office until June 28th, any idea who is handling admissions/waitlist right now?

I would think the dean needs to ok any new acceptee so it would have to wait. Hopefully one of us gets it. I really want to stay in So Cal. :xf:
 
Maybe thats why the waitlist hasn't moved lately. When she gets back there could be a few open spots.
 
When is the last date that anyone was complete that someone received a secondary and interview?

I really would like to attend UCI but I will not have my MCAT scores back until mid-august. My application has been submitted and my transcripts are on the way. I was hoping that mid august when my MCAT scores came back that i could expect a secondary and return it right away and be able to get an interview.

My stats:
cGPA: 3.8ish
sGPA: 3.7ish

Hoping to get MCAT 30-34ish



Please let me know the process works and if I am reasonably going to get a good chance at UCI even though I won't be complete til mid or late- August.

my stats were similar to yours (slightly higher mcat) and my scores weren't recorded until sept. 8. i was accepted. don't worry too much about it.
 
Anyone know if VDC has let people move in early (i.e. in August) in the past? I know some on campus housing places don't allow this, but I think someone said that a few do.
 
I just got accepted off the waitlist!! Now I need to figure out housing... how can I get hooked up with the facebook group? So happy!

I just got of the waitlist today at 6:47 pm!!!! I hope everything works out for everyone. UCI has been my top choice since forever!

Does anyone know of the fb group that I can join and also if there are still housing?
 
Can a current MS1 tell me if there is usually an exam on the first Monday after orientation week or anything important? (Aug. 16 for us)

I know a lot of schools require a CPR class before matriculation. Does UCI? I've looked at the information they sent but don't see anything regarding this. Thanks.

Also, has anybody applied for the GSHIP exemption and seen it gone through? Or been able to access your zot account at all, for that matter?

🙁 Things don't look so good. Only 1 person last year on SDN posted an acceptance in early July so if the trend is similar, it looks like the waitlist movement is essentially dead. Has anyone tried calling Dr. Peterson directly? I know that email says to not bother them, but some people were able to get some information out of her last year.

I'm assuming all pre-matriculation requirements are addressed on the incoming student's website that was emailed to us. There is no mention of CPR certification, so I'm pretty sure we don't need to have it done prior to the start of school. Some med schools have CPR instructors come onto campus in order to get the entire class certified at the same time. Perhaps UCI does this as well.

hey check,
i haven't been able to access my zot account either. i called around and the financial aid office wrote down the problem, said they would get back to me, and told me to try logging on again later in the week. i'll post here again if they send me some useful info.
 
anyone planning on withdrawing?

Dr. Peterson:I really want to go to UCI so can you let in 1 extra student? I won't take up a lot of space and not everyone goes to class😱
 
Hello Guys,
Does anyone know how we can get our UCI Net ID? When I try to access my Fin Aid it says that my UCI Net ID has been issued but I do not know what it is. Also, when I try to follow the housing procedures to get my UCI Net ID activated it says my ID # is not in the system...
 
To those who were taken off the waitlist: how long did UCI allow you to think over your decision to accept the offer or not? Hopefully someone rejects their offer and there's movement this week. *wishful thinking*
 
Sorry I figured out the Net ID problem.

I think Dr. Peterson calls everyone once they get off the waitlist and ask them if they would like to accept the open position.
 
She doesn't give you a period of time to decide? Oh man, that doesn't look good for the rest of us on the WL.
 
I'm sure they'll give at least some time to consider things such as financial aid, etc.

OK, thanks, that's helpful. I actually talked to someone from the Office of Information Technology, who I guess maintain the Zot Account server. They said that I was still listed as an applicant. I'm not sure when that will change, but I'm not planning on accepting my loans until I can access the Zot Account to verify my GSHIP waiver. :shrug:

rls303 everyone who interviews that isn't accepted gets put on the waitlist unless you do something incredibly terrible during your interview which is extremely rare (even people who do bad during their interviews are put on the waitlist, so I guess you would have to tell them outright that you would never go to their school or you committed some heinous crime since you filled out their application to get rejected post-interview), so the waitlist is really large for this school

error message = "HTTP Status 404 - /servlet/. type - status report"
 
Hey guys, is there any affordable housing available cause I know its already too late for Palo Verde and Verano Place. Either on campus or off?
