It doesn't really make sense. Stats look amazing for UC's and obviously there was a Harvard interview. AND the person is a CA resident.

Maybe red flags in the LORs?

Or maybe it's because of MSTP.

It's definitely because of the MSTP. If you're going to do a 7 year program during the prime of your life, where would you rather live? All of the UC MSTPs are open to applicants everywhere (no Cali residency taken into account). That's why their GPA averages are about 3.8-3.9.

Haha, same here. My Cali dream is more or less over.

sorry guys. was the rejection via email?

yeah email saying all the hold decisions have been made, <50% of those receiving secondaries get invites, yawn

i didn't really want to go here. obligatory IS attempt. still, would have been nice to have another shot at my first acceptance.

Hmm...I haven't received a rejection email or an interview invite. Either I'm getting one of the former and they're just doing it in batches ( 90% likely) or I'm getting an invite ( :xf: :xf: :xf: 10% maybe less...). I checked my online status but it hasn't changed from hold. I'll update when I receive any news.

As far as UCSD goes...I don't care as much now as I did at the beginning of the cycle...but it would be nice to get an invite from at least ONE cali school.

Got rejected from UCSD yesterday, after being on hold for interview for 2.5 months. Does anyone know how to appeal, or if it would even be worth it at this point? UCSD was a first or second choice school for me.

Same, via email. I pretty much counted this as a rejection when I was placed on hold, though.

Rejected here yesterday by email. Kind of don't care was expecting it. Bye bye san diego! Your loss!

Appeals, letters of intent, and letters of update don't work. Brian said so.

UCSD needs to make a decision (and let me know about it!) about me already. I'm tired of waiting for them to take their sweet time rejecting me 🙁

Feb 23rd can't come soon enough.

good luck! how did the interviews go? and what'd you think of the school?

Radiation Oncologists named Mell are scary. Interviews with PhDs from your old lab are fun (she showed me her first publication! And asked if my parents are excited that I'm published.)

I went there for undergrad, so...

Anyone else still in the no invite/ no rejection limbo? I'm not expecting an interview but I would appreciate a decision...

how long is the usual interview to final decision turnaround here?

I've heard rumors taht they willl accept off the WL in april instead of may. True?

People can get rejected/removed from the Waitlist in April, but I'm pretty sure offers won't go out until May 15th because they over accept.

Has anyone recently received an interview here? They have clearly weeded through a bunch of pre-interview applicants, but seem to be hanging onto a few of us. I wonder why?

No idea. Last year I was on the pre-interview WL until May -.-

They interview in two-week phases until April. Then they give out ~250 acceptances to a pool of ~600 interviewees. In May, they give out another 40-80 acceptances to a pool of ~350 acceptable pool applicants, post-interview, with no internal rankings.

If you ask Brian he'll tell you the same thing, so this isn't like top-secret information.

I'm still in the same boat but I'm counting on a rejection. Maybe some people are pulled to interview if those with late interviews cancel theirs last minutish.

Does anyone know if UCSD accepts appeals? I know UCI and UCD do.

Brian says no, but you're always welcome to try.

Everyone not interested in attending--withdraw so I can get in!!

So to be clear, are they sending out acceptances tuesday?
I'm still on hold for an interview. Will they be making any decisions about that this tuesday?
Where did these dates come from?

they said it during the interviews. committee meetings are every other monday so they announce decisions the tuesday after. not sure about invites though.

I interviewed a few weeks back and just called Brian to see if I was on today's agenda. He told me one of my interviewers took a while to fill out my evaluation and so I'd be on March 8th's agenda instead : \

So for those of you nervously waiting until tomorrow... don't freak out if you don't hear anything! Kinda bummed, but whatev...

^ Proof that it's never too late to send roses and money to your interviewers.

It is just me or does UCSD not have a separate listing for their medical school on the FAFSA?
