AHHHHHHHHHH I GOT IN!!!!!!!! I interviewed on 11/2 ... I just called Brian he is awesome!!!!
Has anybody heard anything or called about the decision meeting yesterday? I think I might call at my lunch if I haven't heard anything by then. Good luck to everyone!
Rejected.
im sorry about the rejection. do you mind sharing if this was pre-seconday, post-secondary/pre-interview or post-interview? it would be helpful for people im sure. thanks and good luck with your other applications.
I think lastcall is referring to the "Acceptable Pool". They don't start rejecting just yet. I have yet to hear anything =/
^ That's it. Sorry.
The fact that the acceptable pool doesn't move until MAY makes it sound pretty awful. I don't know about everyone else, but I really despise the idea of waiting until May or June to find out where I'm going to school. By then, I'd like to be finalizing financial aid and looking for housing.
Also, it's unranked. What does that even mean? Do they pull names out of a hat or something?
I can't remember if SD said this or another school, but while there is no "official" ranking, there's kind of like an internal ranking in the sense that the adcom has a general idea of where you are, although there is no set order. but again, I don't remember if this is what I heard at SD or another school I visited...
Edit: also, for those of you who were accepted, does it have a date next to "Final Decision Letter Sent" on your application status? I guess this question goes out to the "pooled" people as well, although I doubt you would have one since a waitlist is not a final decision...

once you get a secondary, do OOS and IS have the same chances? or is it still heavily IS favored?
Interview invite today (11-18) for all the way in March 😀

Hi everyone - I'm an MSI at UCSD SOM, and I just wanted to suggest that everyone invited for an interview do the free clinic tour and dinner, especially if you're not staying with a student (which is a super good thing to do too!).

I registered up for the clinic tour, but I was wondering what the dress code is? Its in PB so I assume board shorts and flip flops? Ed hardy tees?

Or find an MSI/II to have coffee with, or whatever. It's just so hugely important to get to talk to students to get a real feel for the school (especially UCSD, in my opinion).
Congrats to those accepted, and good luck to everyone else! Don't give up hope if you don't hear for a long time, are on hold forever, etc. I know there are people in my class who interviewed in June 2009! (the waiting is terrible, but at least there's hope 🙂)
Secondary complete: 9/11, Interview Invite: 11/4, Interview date: 2/9, ISucsd sounds pretty great about being transparent with their applicants post-interview... anybody know if they're willing to share our app's progress if we've been complete almost 2.5 months and haven't heard anything at all?
I just found out that I got in, and I'm really excited. The only thing is that at every other school I interviewed at (especially Vanderbilt and NYU), the students seemed super happy and enthusiatic about the school and said how much they loved it over and over. UCSD students didn't seem horribly unhappy or anything, but they weren't raving about the school either (maybe I went on an off day?). Are there any current UCSD students out there who can elucidate the situation there honestly? I know the curriculum is going to change a ton next year and move to entirely pass/fail the first two years so that is positive for sure!
Thanks for any feedback you have!

Plus the curriculum changes look pretty sweet for your incoming class, so that's something else to be happy with.
Could someone elaborate on the curriculum changes? I'm interested. Is UCSD totally revamping their curriculum or just making some minor changes? I think I'd personally fare better with an organ/system based approach than the traditional breakdown by class. It'd be great if UCSD were switching to the systems approach.
anyone get off pre-interview hold yet?
Systems approach + P/F first two years + in general less lecture time
does sd do silent rejections/straight rejections without a hold pre-interview/post-secondary?

Nov 12 interviewee here. Apparently our apps go to the admissions committee tomorrow and news on acceptance/acceptable pool on tuesday? Anyone in the same boat and nervous as balls as I am? UCSD rocks!
Hey..to all the interviewers on Nov 9-12ish, have any of you guys received the email to fill out the post interview survey?
I did email them directly and got the link, but I don't know my student tour guides' names. Is it okay if I just leave 'em blank? Thanks!
