complete also...how bout we hope for an invite! :xf:

No rejection yet but don't think I stand a chance for this one. Fingers crossed for an invite.

I'm also having issues with the problem essay as the largest challenge I've faced is pretty fleshed out in my personal statement. Would writing about overcoming an injury (not season ending, but definitely one of the most painful experiences of my life) mid-season and sticking to a team commitment be an acceptable avenue?

I think it would be... most people don't have really incredible obstacles to overcome; tell what you learned about yourself from it.

hey did you guys put anything for the "extra info" section?

I was thinking of telling my summer plans, but I wasn't sure if that might be better for a letter of update type thing

I just used it as an update section

So I got an email today that my application is on hold.
But when I logged onto my page (after reading this thread) I couldn't figure out what the "status page" that everybody is talking about. Could somebody please tell me how to get to the page?

Thanks in advance!
BTW, it looks like they are really looking at your secondary and your whole application since I have lower MCAT scores than a lot of people who got rejected. Though obviously, I didn't get an interview so I can't really be happy either.

So when we copy/paste our essays, should we do so with line breaks at different paragraphs? I couldn't tell if they actually see them separated into different paragraphs (I know it doesn't show up for us when we're reviewing our app)

I was wondering the same thing. I have tabs separating my paragrphs in microsoft word, but when I paste them into the secondary they disappear. I'm just not sure if they are still there and will show up for anyone reading them at the school, or if they really got deleted and I should insert an extra line between paragraphs to separate them. Anyone have any insight? Thank you!

I need a simple clarification - I have assigned LORs on AMCAS but in the secondaries it states that letters must be sent by the authors, advisors, or school. Will my school have to send LORs directly to Pritzker or will they take it from AMCAS?

At the very top of their secondary it says (in a gray box) that they accept letters via AMCAS

Did anyone else have a bit of a delay in submitting their payments and being notified that their payment had been received? Its generally been pretty quick for me at other schools, but its been nearly a full business day and no word from Pritzker as to whether or not they're received my payment.

I totally agree with this statement. I got an interview. This is my top choice. PM me if you want more info.

I'm very frustrated with the second essay since the only thing I can think of doesn't fit the prompt very well...I live in a very Christian community but I'm not Christian. I joined this community program which pairs college kids with "urban" youth and we mentor them, etc. However, after I got really close to my kid, his mom wanted to yank the whole thing because she found out that I'm not Christian (although religion is not a prerequisite for the program). She wasn't mean or racist or anything, but she just wanted her son to have a mentor with the same values, etc.

Now, after talking with an old mentor of mine (hence support person..?), I decided to talk to the mom in a very civil way about how my religion and her religion are actually way more similar than they are different, even though the differences get all the attention. Plus, I left religion out of my friendship with her son completely so there's no reason she should worry, considering that I was not trying to convert her son and was still developing the values she held dear.

In the end, she came around, but I didn't have to use any "coping" skills. I just talked it out. Could this be considered a "challenging" situation, and does there need to be coping skills involved?

Confronting the situation, planning points of discussion, and talking it out are coping skills. That is certainly a difficult situation that you handled well. The only iffy aspect of it is that it includes religion. Some people would say that religion, politics, and other touchy issues should be completely left out of applications, so it's just a judgment call for you.

Thanks for the reply. I'm surprised to hear that religion should possibly be left out. The mission statement says that they foster diversity. I see plenty of divide in the political arena and on social issues such as abortion and stuff, but all religions, in my opinion, basically say the same thing (i.e. be a good person, yada yada), so I can't see why someone will get mad about that...Plus my ethnicity/name is a giveaway about my religion if you're suggesting that I should hide it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that you should try to hide your religion or anything else about your identity. I just wanted to give you a heads up that some people recommend staying away from mentioning those topics in essays and interviews. I think the decision to talk about it is purely a personal one. As long as you aren't evangelizing or criticizing a religion, it should be completely fine.

I agree, you should handle the relgion topic delicately (don't criticize other religions, etc...really a no brainer). But the way you describe the situation sounds like an excellent essay and one that an adcom would want to read. Since Pritzker LOVES all forms of diversity amongst its students, I don't think you at all need to hide your religion. It makes you unique and helps you stand out from the crowd. I vote for writing your essay about this experience, it seems like you handled it very maturely and it will only say good things about how you dealt with a difficult situtaion.

do they screen prior to sending secondaries?

This information can easily be found in the MSAR. If it says "all applicants" after "Secondary application sent to", then no, the school does not screen. If it says "screened applicants" after "Secondary application sent to", then the school screens pre-secondary.

Hey got put on hold this morning, said they would get back to me before January 1st to schedule an interview. Kind of a bummer, but at least not a rejection. Think I still have a decent shot or is this pretty much a death sentence?

Thanks guys.

Sorry to hear that. 🙁 When were you complete at Pritzker?

I don't think a hold is the worst thing- you're not rejected at least! 🙂

I was complete on 7/20. So took about a week.

Rejected...complete 7/20...best of luck everyone!

got put on hold, too.

what happens when people get on hold, generally? is it pretty unlikely to be accepted?

mine was via status page...no email

yeah, I have been neurotically checking my status page like every hour. Nothing...

It just says:
"Final Decision for Interview Invitation has been Made: No

A decision has not been made"

Just got my first rejection...complete 7/17... Good luck to the rest of you!

i was placed on hold, complete on the 22. found out via status page and received an email about an hour later.

hold (c7/20)

I'm thinking the hold status isn't probably terrible. I assume they give interviews to only the top candidates this early in the game...they said in the email they're waiting for a larger applicant pool. Let's just hope this a legitimate chance...maybe think about what you can do to update to them in the Fall to make them more interested in you. I'm doing 8 hours/week of clinical research in the ER starting in September through a graduate school program and I'm gonna send them a course description once I start.

If you were complete on the 20th and haven't heard maybe that's a good sign? Like you got an interview! Good luck.

It might be helpful if people posted stats as well with the decision.
On Hold (7/28) 36T, 3.7 cGpa, 3.8 sGPA

I know this sounds stupid, but all these rejections are making me scared to apply. That first rejection is going to feel very discouraging.
