Well - according to my transcript I have enough credits. However, during the intro on interview day they mentioned that your english cannot be writing focused. Welp - I've got two ENGL writing courses and one ENGL other course. I'd hate to have to take another. Will call today to figure it out. Thanks guys.

I wonder what they mean by "can't be writing focused." My pre-med advisor told me that they expect the standard 1 semester Lit/ 1 semester Comp plus one additional English course. But at my undergrad, Lit & Comp were combined each semester.

Do u guys know if there is something u can substitute? Like an art class with a writing emphasis or something?

Damn. Guess that means I'm waiting til March to hear, and that doesn't bode well.

Congrats to all of you who got accepted 🙂

Mvenus,

Not necessarily, at the end of every month some acceptances are given out, some of those are not necessarily to the one who interviewed in the prior month. They tell everyone to wait until march so that they don't get anyone's hopes up prematurely.

If you have 9 english credits, you're good. She was talking about 'writing-intensive' courses not listed in the English department.. like considering a history class as an English class because you wrote a lot of papers.

I'm not getting my hopes up, period. The two other schools I've interviewed at I got an acceptance the first opportunity they had... and I'd drop both if I could go to CU. Unfortunately, they don't much care about letters of intent.

Last time I applied, I was hoping for a waitlist slot come March, and I was rejected. CU evidently doesn't like me.

Ok so as far as english goes...I called today and the lady said that you need 9 units specifically from the english department (I asked if I could use a Spanish literature class and she said no)

Exception: if you have above a 10 on verbal and above a P on the writing section on the MCAT they will consider substituting a WRITING-INTENSIVE class in another subject area...and they go off of course description...the problem is, even though some of my classes were writing intensive, they don't say anything about it in the course description...i wonder if i could get a professor to write something out for it...

I don't know why they are not giving out acceptance to you.

Your stats look fabulous and your EC's are fantastic...

And you are instate.

It's really weird I think...

Congrats everyone! I got in too! CU 2014, cant wait to meet you all!!!!

Definitely know that feeling. I got on waitlist 2 last year, got my hopes up and I'm pretty sure that few if any got in off of that list.

ANybody heard anything about interviews? I completed much sooner than I did last year (late October, early November) and have upped my stats by alot (150+ more hours in the ED, more shadowing, 4.0 so far in masters program etc..) and still no word. Not that I worry or anything....

I was just about to ask the same thing. Has anyone that was waitlisted last year heard anything? Had an interview/been accepted?

Well, a lot of people have had interviews already... late Oct really isn't early still...
That was last year. I was sent everything in this year in August but the check didnt clear and get the official complete until September.

Congrats to all who have been accepted 🙂! If you are going to interview and have questions or are going to be a part of the class of 2014 and have questions let me know!!

Hi everyone! I have an interview Jan. 8. Is anyone else interviewing that day???

I really hope to be joining those of you that got accepted - I got an interview last year, but come March 31 I got the dreaded rejection email!

Hopefully that doesn't happen this year! Good luck to all that applied!

Good luck with your interview.

Just be prepared to answer basic questions, and always stay positive with a smile on, even when situations get awkward.

I think that's what got me in...

good luck with your interview!!!:luck:

on an unrelated note, we should totally populate this thread more. We have to have some Colorado pride!

Hey 987, I have a question for you. Do you know what the back up plan is if campus is closed due to snow? I am interviewing on the 23rd of this month, and the weather people are calling for a 30% chance of snow. As most of us know the weather here in Colorado can be some what unpredictable. I know campus was closed for a day and a half a few weeks ago because of snow. I hope they wouldn't cancel the interview because I have already prepared myself for next week.

obviously I don't know for sure, but it seems like it would have to snow a lot for them to close campus. When campus was closed a few weeks ago it had snowed a couple of feet, right? I think you will be safe, good luck on your interview!!!

I live in East Denver and got 7", and I don't think Aurora got much more. It surprisingly does not take a lot of snow to cause panic here in Denver. It all depends on when it actually snows. A few weeks ago it snowed all throughout the day, and in a city that relies on the sun to clear 90% of the snow, as unbelievable as this sounds, a little bit of snow during the day can cause a whole medical campus to shut down.

I don't want to jinx myself and everyone else interviewing, but it's more than likely that no snow will even stick to the ground I was just curious to find out if anybody had an interview that was snowed out and if so how long was it before they got rescheduled.

hmm.. Yeah, my interview was the Monday before the crazy storm. I guess it snowed more up north, my parents sent me a picture (I am out of state finishing school) where there was at least a foot of snow on our deck.

I totally understand the stress of the thought of moving an interview you are ready for. Just try to relax and focus on things you can control, like having awesome answers for the questions you know they'll ask. Don't worry too much about the 30% chance of snow.

You are right I keep letting my mind wonder about the "what ifs" when I just need to relax and focus on answering my questions and smiling.

Does anybody know if people got accepted before march but maybe a round or two after they were interviewed? CU is my number one choice and I interviewed in late October so I know they have already sent out acceptances that included my interview date but does that mean I am definitely waiting until March (and then HOPEFULLY getting a much desired acceptance???).
I know I am asking for the inner workings of this process but i'll take any glimmer of hope so even if you don't know, maybe just make something up that sounds real and i'll take it 😀

I know that they stressed the wait till March, but obviously lot of people already got accepted way before the March date.

I think acceptances will be flying out every Month, so the next batch will be out by early December.

Although you weren't accepted in November, you might hear in December depending on quality of those who interviewed in November.

I'm in the same position. I'm not getting my hopes up. I'll somewhat patiently wait til March to hear. If I hear before then, great. If not, oh well.

When I interviewed one of the students said that they accepted 25 people a month until march. It sounds like they make a ranked list of all the people who have applied up until that point and the top 25 get accepted. Of course I have no idea if this is really true, but if it is, you might not have to wait until March. Good luck!!!!

If anybody cares, from my interview yesterday I learned from the associate dean:
1. The admissions committee has met once this year and has given out 40 acceptances

2. The admissions committee is going to meet before Thanksgiving holiday and offer more acceptances (she did not say how many) this week.

3. The admissions committee normally meets once a month.

4. They must have 160 (the size of their class) offers out by March 31st

5. It's good to interview early because each time the committee meets your application is reviewed again, and you could receive an acceptance. (this advice was from a MS1 not on the admissions committee)

I am wondering the same thing. I was complete late September and have heard nothing. Should I be calling them or just holding on tight for a long wait? I am OOS, 31R MCAT, 4.0 GPA.... and a little bit anxious.

Congrats!

Thanks so much. I really wasn't expecting to hear back for a while because it sounded like they were granting a minimal amount of acceptances in the rolling phase. I just wish OOS tuition was more reasonable.

Ya, why aren't there more people posting acceptances....? Maybe you were the lone acceptance...that would actually be kind of cool (for you, and torture for the rest of us)

So second round of acceptances went out yesterday then? Or do you think they will trickle out the rest of the week as well? CU doesn't seem to have a huge SDN component...

Ha, I hope that I was not the lone acceptance yesterday; I know others were probably anticipating a response more than I was. I have to say that the first-year students I met during the interview did not seem like the type that would spend hours on SDN each day, so maybe yesterday's other acceptances are the same way.

I really don't know much about the selection process and how the adcom operates. I wonder if your interviewer's presence is required for discussion during a committee meeting? If so, faculty availability could be responsible for getting a response. A previous poster said that 40 acceptances have been given out with more coming this week. My guess would be that this week's acceptances have already gone out with Thanksgiving tomorrow, but who knows for sure. My tour guide reaffirmed that many in his class were not admitted until March, so I would certainly not be discouraged with not yet hearing.

09/08/2009 We have received your secondary application payment and have begun processing your completed application. The final status for most applicants will not be decided until March 31, 2010.

anyone else been waiting this long?

They have the committee meeting the same day as the interview. The individual conference rooms act as the interviewing rooms, but there's another, larger room, where the committee gathers together and they present each student that interviewed that day, I guess over lunch.

I've been waiting since 9/21 and haven't heard anything either. My online status says the same thing :/

I'm out OOS btw. :sigh::

Momanddoc,

You're the only one I've seen in my quick scan of this thread with that interview date! I am going to be there too! It will be fun to meet all the people!

And btw I don't think it does a lot of good to watch your online status :\, I got the invitation to interview a few weeks ago and mine still says the same thing!

Great to hear that someone else who is on the thread will be there too! I know one other person who is actually in my master's program who is going to be there too!

I'm really excited and look forward to meeting you!

Hey, I'm also going to be there on that date! (Jan 08) I actually received an invite only 2 weeks ago or so.

Nice! Another person! Did you get your invite on the 10th of November?

Just got an interview invite for this Friday! I got a call asking me if I could come on short notice and then followed by an official email for Friday! Holy Crap, that was not expected at all!
