When were you complete? i've heard nothing but was complete later because the admissions office "misplaced" one of my letters. kind of really turned me off on the school but would like an interview invite since i went to undergrad here.
 
hey everybody... for those of you that were accepted, did you receive a handwritten note from dr. gessner at the bottom of your acceptance letter? i'm just wondering because i don't know if i should be really honored and excited about the note or not 🙂 i figure it would be cool of him to write on everybody's acceptance letters though.
 
I got my email/calls, and yesterday got a financial aid packet, but I haven't received the actually mailed acceptance yet. (2/19 interview) I'm assuming there was something else I should have received too?

Yep, I received a handwritten note as well. Guess I'm not that special... It was a very nice gesture though.
 
Hey folks,

I'm not counting on an acceptance from UF, but I am curious: at my interview, they DID say that the people who weren't accepted immediately would get a decision in March, correct? I'm currently deciding between Indiana or Maryland, both of which might be too cold for me!

I think they said they would begin to re-evaluate all of the people they had "waitlisted" in March. I think they said they'd begin to give final decisions around mid to late April.
 
I got an interview invite today for 3/19. Was absolutely shocked haha...but oh so happy. Looks like I just barely made it!

Congrats, when did you complete your app? and are your stats in the range of UF stats?

Oh - I was complete way back in August or September. I'm a reapplicant, but I think my constant updating is what helped me get it.
 
Hey guys I have a question. The conversation with my interviewer yesterday was really fun, we talked about 20 min about cats and dogs and music. But, now that I think about it, I didn't talk about things on my applications at all..

Do you think that is bad when she present my file to the committee?

I mean, what would she have about me to present... in fact, it was more I was interviewing HER because she has a lot of good viewpoints 😳

I think ALL interviews should be that way. As long as there wasn't anything that needed clarification on your app, I don't see a problem with not talking about your app. An interview should be a way for someone to get to know you and see if you have the personality to be a good doctor and fit in at the school. I interviewed here and my interview was nothing like that. I actually didn't have that great of an experience there. But my interview at USF was exactly like that. We just talked about our families (we had similar family issues), his job and how he got into his specialty, and about being irish (I'm irish, he was irish, and the guy he interviewed before me was irish...kinda funny) among other random things for about 45 minutes...he learned a lot about me and my personality, and I ended up being accepted. So I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Yay! Congrats on your acceptance to USF! I'm waiting for both places. That made me feel a bit better. I guess getting which interviewer is based on luck huh? I heard some others on the same day had interviewers who went through each item on the application and asked details. Then, they jot down notes of the responses. Both of my interviewers didn't take any note.

I also think that one big mistake I've made is that when she ask, 'what do you do outside of school?' i accidentally talked about my hobbies instead of volunteer work, though she seem to respond pretty well. It is not really my nature to talk about EC's unless specifically asked. UF..if only there is another chance to talk...............!

I wouldn't worry about that at all. There are different ways to interpret that question. I probably would have answered in a similar way. Although my work pretty much fills my time outside of school, so it would be hard to not mention it. Anyway, I wouldn't stress over what you said or didn't say. You can't change it now, and worrying about it will only make you crazy. If you felt it went well, it probably did!
 
Rejected via email on 3/17 pre-interview. Oh well. Good luck to everyone else still waiting/interviewing!
 
Just got a call from the admissions office, from Chet specifically. He said since Denise was still out he wasn't sure when the email or package would be sent out. So idk if everyone should be expecting a call or what!! But good luck everyone!!!

Dude! That's amazing! I remember you just barely missing it last year and busting your ***** again this year. I'm so glad it paid off.

Do some heavy drinking this weekend and don't come back to SDN until Aug! I'll probably be in Gainesvill too come Aug so I'll see ya there 😀
 
I also interviewed on 3/19 but have not gotten a phone call or email. I am taking this as bad news. Congrats to those who were accepted.
 
so weird that other people get the call. i waited 'til 4:30PM.. before the office was closed because didn't get any email or call. So i call them right?

Chet was like.. "the email for on hold was sent 20 min ago, so u know what that means right? Congrats! accepted... ahhh!! that's really weird b/c i was the one who called. i was like ur not kidding?? its not a mistake right!?!??!!?!?!?! 😱

Interesting...so that means either I got rejected outright or they just did not call me? congrats by the way!

I just called the admissions office and I got in!! Can not believe. It's great to be a Florida Gator! See you all in August
 
So if we didn't get the hold/waitlist email we're in? Yikes.

I wish I could call right now, but I'm in class. Although, there is no way I'm going to be able to pay attention now!

Edit: Ha! Misunderstood what was posted. You're all talking about recent interviewees. I still need to wait til April. Oops.

I believe March 19 was their last interview day. So perhaps they will begin looking at people placed on hold now or soon...:xf:

When I called Chet said those who are on hold probably wouldn't hear anything until mid April. Talk about a bummer.

Last year they put it off 'til mid May, so consider yourselves lucky!
 
Actually, last year they made the decision about acceptances and waitlists in March. Maybe you are talking about waitlist decisions but I found out I was on hold in March, along with the other applicants.

You find out you're on hold a week after your interview(unless you're accepted, of course). I found out about waitlist information in May. I received this email on May 8, 2009:

Thank you for your patience!

The University of Florida College of Medicine is pleased to inform you that the Medical Selection Committee recommends offering to you a position on the alternate list for the Class of 2013.

We will mail a formal decision letter with all the details to your preferred address as listed in AMCAS.

Yo! Congrats yall!

For those who were accepted after the 3/19 interview... did anyone get anything in the mail yet? The financial aid stuff is due soon right?? so should we get that in asap?

yup - I can attest to the fact that they got decisions out awfully quick this year as compared to last year...it wasn't until 1st week of May till they told me I was waitlisted last year...
 
Hey,

So I was just walking to a meeting in Shands and went past the office of admission. I decided to count the number of accepted photos. There are currently 140 accepted, which should leave about a 100 spots still left to fill. Hope this info is useful, I cannot wait to hear back soon 😉

They have 140 photos up on the wall? 😕 I thought it looked less than that, but I didn't count.

Yea, no one was in the office that late at night so I took about 3 minutes looking through the window to count all the pictures (not including the junior honors).
