i was thinking about attending here, but the cost would be a some more one of you probably got my spot!! 😉

Don't do it, seriously.

Where there's life, there's hope. I'm right there with you, waiting on the morrow for something good to come through this haze that my life has become. But if nothing comes again, if all I am destined to be for right now is still a pre-med, then so be it, at least we still have hope, have a chance where so many have none.

You rock it, yoman! I hope for the best for you today (or tomorrow)! 🙂

Ah, would never actually do it. At least I have plans for next 2 years if I don't get in (M.S.).

If second look doesn't blow me away I may be withdrawing, if that's the case I hope my spot goes to you!

Would you be going to Loyola instead? I've heard good things about that school! I didn't apply, but in the end, I am of course partial to UIC 😉

I think at the end of the day, whichever school we choose will be great.

So today's a committee meeting and I was interviewed just few weeks ago....so when should I be expecting a status change following the meeting?.. today or tomorrow?

Yeah trying to decide. The terrible fin aid from loyola made it less than a lock.

Just send along a P.S. with your letter...btw...I know this guy...you've driven him to the brink of insanity...the least you could do is throw him a bone...

Anyone with a status page update? I know for the last meeting a few people had status updates throughout the week of the meeting.

I think that's a good sign. The first acceptance reported on here for the last meeting had status change after 5:00pm

I had a status change the same day as the meeting, and it was after 5:00pm as well. Good luck everyone! I hope you hear some good news tonight! :luck:

I guess no one has had an update yet. How hilarious would it be if the meeting was moved to next week. I haven't been able to study for the past few days! This is too stressful for finals.

hey all, does the status page tell you if you've been accepted or not or does it just simply say that a decision has been made? super nervous! mine still reads decision pending so no updates here.

It just says decision made. It basically only gives us news that they said yes or no. I think it continues to say decision pending if you're on hold until next meeting.

BTW this is TEN times worse than waiting for my MCAT score. :-(

Hey can anyone post the website for the status check? The page I found keeps redirecting me to the AAMC page. Help?!

so what kind of status changes indicate acceptance? What indicates rejection or hold??

From what I've read, hold would just stay as decision pending, theres speculation on what acceptance and rejection are but it'll say final decision made (or something like that).

Well didn't some one say that if there is another tab that says something about correspondence, then most likely it is an acceptance :soexcited:or they could just put you on hold😡. I don't think they reject anyone this early and so they could just put you hold and there would still be hope. Although, an acceptance would be really really really coooooooool 😀

btw. no change on my page either....

Delayed April fool's joke maybe? Our status will change to (HAHAH fooled you! Our meeting is NEXT Thursday!) :-(

Yeah trying to decide. The terrible fin aid from loyola made it less than a lock.

BBender, I admit Loyola is a great school, has happy students, great facilities, and an amazing atmosphere.

But I'm gonna try to convince you to come to UIC lol. Im not trying to start a UIC vs. Loyola thread just a few coments.

As you probably know, UIC isn't much cheaper than Loyola, prob 10-20 grand over 4 years.

But here are the reasons that made me decide

With loyola I was so overwhelmed by the facilities and how pretty the place was, and it really is amazing. But the more I thought the more I realized, in my opinion, that UIC lets you do more in terms of research, patient care, and overall has a more visceral experience with medicine.

Since U of I hospital is public, Med students get to literally participate in everything and anything. I feel like M3 and M4 at UIC is stronger than loyola (not that loyola's isnt good). You get to see the craziest diseases of downtown chicago and you get to take the lead on them. Also Maywood started to sound really isolated and random.

At first glance Loyola's block schedule sounds amazing, and it is good. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized they require you to be in class and in discussion far too much. Were gonna be dying for more time, I think all those discussions are gonna kill us. Also UIC classes start at 930 on average, Loyolas at 830! And UIC has a pseduo block schedule where you pretty much focus on one subject and have some lectures about other topics.

And the coolest thing I realized about UIC was that they sorta have made the pre-clinical years into much more clinical work. for example, 6 full weeks in M2 are devoted to in the hospital rotations. If you look at the M2 live block schedule at UIC's website, it seems like the majority of their time is doing hands on work. Its pretty wild. I was so surprised. And M1, in my opinion, has more on hands work with patients than loyola, at loyola I felt like it was more like demonstrations and discussions on topics.

Yes UIC isnt a homey place, but it grows on you. Im not trying to start a UIC vs loyola thread ( I already did lol), but i want you to give UIC a fair shot before the Second Look. Its really difficult to look past the happiness and prettiness of Loyola. I think youd be an awesome addition to the Class of 2014, Im sure MyBubbles and Quinn Would agree!

Sorry for the long post.

You think you're tense? I interview in SEPTEMBER. This is my SEVENTH time waiting for an adcom decision.

Yea honestly I couldn't imagine. But, I also did spend the past 9 months with no interview and just rejection after rejection. Either way getting interviews early or really late suck. :-\

Look on the bright side though, they have liked you enough to keep you out of the rejection pile SEVEN times. That means a lot since people are getting rejected left and right. I have faith that you'll get in eventually. I don't think they would have kept you this long to reject you in May. But what do I know.

Have you sent updates and LOI?

Hi everyone - I was accepted back in Feb and have been keeping up with this thread for a while.

Thought I should finally introduce myself :hello:

Hello! If you don't mind be being completely obsessive about this and asking how long after the meeting did your status change? hahha

This was a very informative post, and it made me even more excited to be attending UIC! Good work 👍 and thanks 🙂!

Hello! If you don't mind be being completely obsessive about this and asking how long after the meeting did your status change? hahha

If I remember correctly it was in the afternoon of the Thursday they met, definitely before 5 PM. However, I can imagine that the lag time might be longer now, seeing as they are probably going through all the apps they have held over from all the previous months.

Or it could be something completely random like the administrator who changes that statuses is out sick that day...ha. Have hope...no need freaking out until there is something to freak out about?

Btw guys, a few times some peoples status changed late, or on Fridays. Its possible youll find out tomorrow!

visionarytics i hope you get in man, I remember the first day you got deferred, I feel for you man.

relax yoman786.

My apologizes Cookie, its just been a hectic time for well all of us still posting here. UIC is my only chance to matriculate this cycle, so I'm kinda tense. I should have been nicer though, so my apologizes yet again.

i just got accepted in march...and i went to bed early the night after the committee met. i fell asleep around 9:30pm and i woke up at 5:00am for work on that friday. i checked my status, and BAM! it had changed overnight! 😱

perhaps they update it but then it takes a few hours for the system to show these changes? i am sure there was not a person updating our pages at midnight, LOL.

Yea, I mean its a big school, so everything related to IT probably takes a bit of time

Now I really want to stay up till midnight to see if it changes
