It's official. My head has officially blown off and I am now headless. Fortunately, I have trained all this week engraining this final message into my muscle memory in case of such an event.

Oddly enough... My headless body can also check the MEDS page, my email, and page 3 of the sdn forum quite seamlessly...

Yeah... nothing here either. I'm stuck at my computer until 1, but after that I'm just going to come back at 5pm with fingers crossed.

I work in a lab with 20 different computers. It's so hard not to check it every time I walk by one.

Hah, no, I have nerves of cotton. I've got to get away from the computer before I drive myself crazy and possibly break the F5 key.. I just can't do anything productive here, so I'm going to go run a bunch of errands.

Well, I just got home from work and checked the MEDS page. Didn't see anything new in the blue box, but scrolled down to the bottom anyway.

It says I've been selected for an interview and that an email with details will be sent.

I have not yet received such an email, but will post any interesting details when I do get it.

Edit: I'm in panic mode right now since some have gotten the update. Wondering if it was a mass update and those who didn't get an interview didn't get an update, or if they are doing them one-by-one. ~eek!

Well, I got the email.

I'm in Group B on Tuesday, September 15th.

From what it looks like, there are six groups per day, and the group you are in determines the time of your interviews and the rest of your schedule.

I'm curious as to whether everyone thinks how they group people pertains to the strength of the applicant. Like, Group A people on Monday would be the strongest where Group F on Wednesday would be the weakest?

I could totally be off with my theory, but again I'm just curious.

I don't know about you Omzy, but I'm starting to think that I didn't get an interview if I don't at least have that little notice on my MEDS status page.

I'm not sure. Marele and scout are both in Group B, so maybe they are still doing the later groups. I just would be surprised if I didn't get one since my stats are 32mcat (10P, 10V, 12B) and 3.65gpa. Keeping my fingers crossed

I've looked over the MEDS page meticulously and it is still the same as it has been. Nothing at the bottom except File Complete and Supplemental Application Received. I can only hope they aren't finished and that they will continue after-hours or maybe Tuesday. For now, thats all I have to go on.

Omzy I think you're right they're just doing earlier groups. Also, I don't think the day you interiew has any indication of the strength of your application. I think this done by order of secondary submission / file completion. Unfortunately, I think that everyone at KU med wants to get started on the holiday weekend so we'll have to wait until Tuesdayor Wednesday... Maybe they'll just call us up the day we're supposed to interview and tell us to "come on down."

We had many more well-qualified EDP candidates than we have interview slots, and I am sorry to inform you that you were not among those selected to interview under the Early Decision Program. With this email, you are free from obligation to KU as an EDP candidate. You may return to your AMCAS application at www.aamc.org/amcas to change your program type to Regular MD, and, if you wish, you may also apply to other medical schools at this time.

At this time, we do want to acknowledge your commitment to KU School of Medicine by extending to you an invitation to interview in October. That interview block is slated for Monday through Wednesday, October 26-28. Just checked my email. Group C on Tuesday.

I checked with a few people whose GPA/MCAT/general app strength I am aware of and there does not seem to be any sort of pattern in which days or groups people ended up in.

Last year, the offer to interview in October was not extended to "edp rejects." I know, because I was one and didn't get the October interview invite until later in September.

On that note, I got EDP interview this year!!!! I am feeling a combination of great calm and peace, as well as extreme excitement!! Going for a celebratory drink 🙂

I interviewed regular decision last year and was given the earliest interview time on my interview day. I was told (by Sandy McCurdy I think) that interview times are given out depending on how far away the applicant lives. For instance, people driving in from several hours away are given the afternoon interviews and those of us that live close had the earliest interviews. I don't know if that is true for ED though because I haven't moved yet I have an afternoon interview this year.

I'm curious as to the percentage of EDP interviewees that did not get accepted through EDP, were rolled into RD and eventually got accepted there.

Do any of the current KU Med students who look at this thread have any insight?

From what i understood last year, those who were rejected post-interview in the EDP had a fairly high admission rate after being put into regular decision, although honestly i don't know what that number is. I think for now, just concentrate on the interview and cross that bridge if it comes (hopefully you'll all be accepted within EDP!!)

As a side note, I would definitely check out the interview feedback part of the forum, i was surprised at how much stuff written there popped up during my interview

UTKD pm'ed me that he talked to Jason Edwards about this.

Basically, he said that the October 26-28 interview invites were not given out to all of the "EDP rejects". Apparently, many/most of the people who got EDP invites are actually older or reapplicants.

Maybe they felt it would save them from having to look at our apps again if they figure we will end up getting RD interviews anyway.
