BTW deferred peeps, an M4 I went out to dinner with before my interview told me recently that she was deferred and eventually accepted, so I don't feel as bad about the situation now. Keep your fingers crossed for an early Christmas present.
 
I understand that UMich is working hard to evaluate our files, but we haven't heard anything since then. Does this mean that UMich will send all interview invites on a certain day, or our files are not qualified enough to receive an interview invite?

I had options for the 4th and 11th very early in the morning, man they fill up fast!

Yeah, interview invite here as well. Very pleased. In-State, 38S 3.33 cGPA I'm not sure exactly when I was complete....my emails say that I turned in my view on Sept. 10th. And I had the option of 2 dates, the 18th or january 8th. Does anyone know if one can request a slightly earlier date? Neither of those worked for me, and I have to go see family on the 17th...obviously I'll change my ticket if I need to, but has anyone here tried to switch their date?

Admission team is meeting this morning to review calendar and discuss additional interview offers to make. This time of year is very hard...

Pre-interview. They haven't screened me out yet, but they did screen my application.

I think I'll be very bummed if I get a rejection, but I've been getting quite a few rejections lately, so it has numbed me.

Well, for what it's worth, I've been complete and under review since 8/5, so I don't have any idea what to think at this point.

I've had that status since July, almost 4 months now. I'm assuming it's either a rejection or it means they won't review our files again until they have finished reviewing every other application for the first time.
 
seems like it's pretty much a hold. not a real rejection, since it just depends on the other applications that they get, and where you fall into that mix.
 
I also just got the "Application Screening Complete" on-hold status... pretty bummed as a born-and-raised Wolverine. 🙁 Has anyone been offered an interview from this status? Many of the sites that I've read have given suggestions on how to get off-hold, but I think they're all talking about a post-interview hold (or wait-list). I wonder if updating our files would be of any help at this point...

It isn't a rejection. At least you've gotten on. I'm still in "file complete" limbo. fml

Don't worry everyone-I think UMICH loves me the least since I am still "Under Review" since late July...Maybe they forgot about little old me 😛
 
Has anyone received invitations from this round (starting this monday)?
 
Whoa, the interview tracker jumped up to 500/650 offers. How many was it at before today?
 
I've said this before and I'll say it again, MICHIGAN IS AN AMAZING PLACE!!! Since my interview in early October, I've realized just how much the school has to offer its students.

And, congrats to those with interviews! You're in for a treat because the interview day is incredibly well done!
 
So I'm starting to suspect that my unchanging "file complete-under review" status is a nice way of saying "no thanks" since they've made most of their interview offers and I'm not even on hold.

Changing tracker info, but did they send out the interview invites yet?

Blah, why am I even hoping? I'm not going to be on the that boat. 🙁
 
Hmmm...I'm glad their % of acceptances offered didn't increase too much. Hopefully there's a fair number left at the end of December so I might be un-deferred (in a good way.)
 
I too am wondering if the interview invites have gone out. But then again it might be a coincidence, that nobody from SDN got an invite.

I guess they are being safe and keeping a few (or a lot of) people on hold/under review until they fill in all their interview slots just to make sure they still have a 650th person.

I think its kind of unfair to let so many people believe they have a shot. There are probably WAY more than 150 people on hold or under review for just those few interview slots. I would like to think that if you have no chance at all of getting one they would just reject you but that might not be the case at most med schools.

Also, I really would like to know the difference between "on hold" and "under review." Which status has the better chance of getting those last few interview slots?

I'm thinking on hold is better. It means "we like your stats but we just aren't 100% yet". Under review for all eternity means "we're letting your file get dusty on our desks while we keep you in limbo"
 
btw, has anyone who has been on hold forever and a day actually called up UMich to ask wtf is up?

I've been under review for a month and a half and my stats are definitely better than some of the other people who got interviews. I don't have the 38/4.0 required for an automatic interview but I'm close (>35 and >3.9) and for such a stats oriented school I'm surprised I haven't been put on hold then.

The only think I can think of is that Michigan doesn't like my state of residency and/or my undergrad institution.

Have you noticed on their profile page pretty much all the students come from certain undergrad schools: http://www.med.umich.edu/medschool/admissions/apply/profiles.html.

Guess because my undergrad school wasn't in Michigan and wasn't Harvard or Yale I'm out.

You can get accepted from a no-name school. Just be patient. Good luck! :luck:
