"Highly Desirable - December decision"
Oh well... From last year it appears almost none got off "highly desirable."
Do you mean the waitlist?

Does anyone know approximately how many merit scholarships are given out each year?
Wow. And I wrote an update letter for Michigan two days ago. Thanks for wasting my time. Go Illini! 😀Twitter: "After much deliberation we've decided a majority of remaining interview offers will be allocated to Michigan residents."
This + my unending "under review" status = 99.9% guaranteed rejection. dang👎
+1. I'm interested in this too. I know there are about ten full scholarships, but how many 3/4 or 1/2 tuition? If anyone knows I will appreciate it.

Imagine how I feel. I'll be the first member of my family for 3 generations not to go to U of M.
Fingers crossed, at least BU might say yes.
U might do residency there!!!
One can only hope.
Incidentally, anyone here get one of those coveted interview invites that are supposedly being doled out today?
no they can't until may 15
Thought it was mid march -- i might/probably am wrong.
They can see where you got into mid March. Hence the reason UM gives out scholarships starting March 25th.
Dear Adcom:
"When an applicant cancels their interview less than 24 hours prior-we can't recover review time or fill the spot--poor form indeed ;-( "
I just need a 1 hour notice. I'll be there!!!

Haha, send an e-mail to any one of the remaining "File Complete - Under Review" applicants and I'm sure they would gladly drop everything and go 🙁
I hope the Adcom doesn't outright reject me because of this post -- When a school interviews & selects only "top" candidates -- aren't they playing with fire, in the sense -- these candidates will have multiple acceptances from top school's, and most of them are pretty much going to go to the school, which offers them the most money. So -- and I am sure that some of the top candidates will choose MI over everyone else no matter what -- where's the love for U of M in these candidates? These candidates are bound to treat the school as just another feather in their hat.
Or maybe it just doesn't matter. I am confused.
seems like someone seriously pissed them off considering that twitter update and the one they posted more recently. a shame they aren't taking some of us who are dying for interviews
"we understand some of you would interview on short notice but we don't have that luxury re; file prep/review, hosting and aec review : - ( "
i love that they responded to us on twitter.
Dear michigan:
My name is rachel and i'd love an interview!
Please and thank you!
Ps. I promise not to cancel.
wait... maybe that was too informal.now I'm hopeless... ugh
I think that unless someone says or does something really egregious on this forum (showing that he or she is a bad person, e.g. cursing someone else out) even if the ADCOM can figure out the identity of the person posting they should not use it to evaluate us.
The process is really stressful and students should have a safe place to post questions and comments about the process without the fear that our postings will hurt our application.
I doubt that when they refer to a lack of courtesy it does not apply to anything on this forum. I'm sure they only read this to help keep us informed and do not take our negative/inappropriate comments personally.
I have my interview scheduled for January, and today noticed that UM has a 1 semester biochemistry requirement!!! I graduated a year ago and NEVER took biochem, so are they expecting me to take it (assuming I receive an acceptance) before enrolling in the fall?? aghhhh

i agree.
on another note, if any of you ever decide to apply for a job, please do not facebook friend the recruiter (me). thanks.
that is all
Since some schools like asking hypothetical questions on the interview, I have a couple for you guys.
Where would you go
A) Full Ride at Wayne State University or Michigan with no scholarship
B) Full Ride at Michigan or Harvard with no scholarship
They may actually read your suggestion and pull the plug. Oh UMich 🙁Hey Mich, why are we still "under review" for 3+ months, if you've decided to give your last few invites to Mich residents. If the books have been closed, I don't think it's unfair to expect formal notice. Thanks.

They said a majority will be Mich residents. That could mean 51/100 or 90/100 who knows. They said they'd be closing files more rapidly this month so it looks like they are at least trying to let people know when they are out of the running
didn't they say 99% would be michigan residents? sorry if that bursts your bubble, but that's just what i understood.
