Depends on the reason for your low GPA...if you've got very good reasons for a low GPA, strong MCAT score, and excellent activiites..it may offset your GPA!

If you ahve the money to throw around..then go for it! Never hurts..especially if something about you adds diversity to their class.

I had a 2.8 Undergrad GPA (I know its no excuse but it was aerospace and mechanical engineering). I attended a post-bacc program at Hunter College and got 3.9 GPA and my overall jumped to like a 3.1 and my BCPM was a 3.4. Also got a 31P on the MCAT. Along with crazy volunteering and extracurriculars and I was invited to an interview at Einstein and already got accepted into a couple schools. So if your heart is in it and you show them you have the mental capacity to handle to rigors of med school, a low undergrad GPA can be offset.

Just got an invite today, I was marked as preliminary screening complete about 10ish days ago I think.

so, i've been complete for about 6 weeks. i'm not too worried yet, except for the fact that my status has said "Status About To Change" for about 2 weeks. i keep checking because i think it's just...about...to...change, but it never does.

anyone else have this status for so long?

about...to...contact the school if no one suggests additional patience.

also, this is my first time quoting myself.

Anyone else have their "Preliminary Screening Completed" since mid October and still haven't heard anything?😳

No worries! I had the prelim screening complete for 3 weeks (at least, I don't know when it went up haha), and then one day I surprisingly got an interview invite.

Well, I've had the "preliminary screening completed" status for at least 1.5 months -- maybe it is a silent rejection? I don't know.

I received the "complete" email around 2 weeks ago. is this different from the preliminary screening complete email? confused.

Dude I was complete for over 2 months before I heard anything. I would wait a little longer.

yeah me too. i've been complete since the end of august. the issue is that, if you saw my original post that i quoted, i have had the "Status About to Change" Status for about a month now. THAT'S what i'm getting curious about. no one else has reported a similar case...

Same with me! I've been complete since August 10, had "Status About to Change" for about two months now. Glad to know I'm not the only one stuck like this...

Interview invite for Feb. 28th. I saw some people interviewed in october. Is that early decision? besides them anyone have an interview in Nov. or Dec. or do they start interviewing the main bulk of students in January?

Also, has anyone been rejected, or are they interviewing everyone based on some low cutoff. If so, that would explain why interviews are being scheduled so far away. 4 months is a long time to wait! If you have not submitted your 2ndary yet get on it, probably not a whole lot of interview slots left.

Congrats TacTown w/the interview! do you mind sharing w/us when you were complete?

No problem. I'll share my stats too. Complete Aug. 15 got the invite Nov. 1st. 3.7 science, 3.77 overall, 32R. So...it was a 2 1/2 month wait. Hang in there!

I have an interview in mid-December. I was complete late August and got an interview invite mid-September. Really excited about AECOM!

32S, 3.91s, 3.88c

Good luck to all those still waiting to hear!

They interview 1200 of 7400 apps, so hardly everyone. Apparently about 500 people will eventually be accepted. Keep in mind that they have one of the largest med school classes, around 180.

I interviewed here recently and everyone there really seemed to love being there. Guaranteed housing for all four years with absurdly cheap rent is a great plus too.

In response to TacTown:

I'm not an early admit, and I'm interviewing there monday (11/8)!

I actually had that happen to me as well, I probably wrote about it a few pages back. I had that status for about 5 or 6 weeks and then it changed to an interview invite. So it looks like you're in a pretty good spot 🙂

thanks, moogle and waffles. i'm not gonna assume too much, but at least i know my file hasn't fallen through the cracks, yet.

I was complete Oct 20th... at this rate, it doesn't seem like I'll have a spot to interview. 🙁

Yeah, this wait is forever. I was complete late August, and it says my preliminary screen was completed. I've had this status for about a month now, unless it was there earlier and didn't notice it.

I was complete in mid September and received an invite around 10/10. Stop worrying guys, it's a lengthy process but AE is non-rolling and it's still relatively early.

Hey all,

I'll be interviewing on 11/15. Can anyone who has already interviewed at AECOM shed a little more light on their experience? Types of questions asked? Conversational or stone-faced? Would be much appreciated!

AE is probably the most laid back school I've been to so far. The day itself has no info session (so read the booklet before in case you have questions) and consists of just one interview and then lunch/tour with some current students. The interview was extremely conversational, and I actually didn't want to leave the interview since I was having such a good conversation with the doctor. The only stress you should have on interview day is getting there on time - dealing with NYC traffic/transportation. It took me two hours to drive there and I live 45 miles away.

Did anyone receive any complete emails this past week, and if so when did you submit your secondary? Thanks!

anyone here with more bronx commuting experience than I?

I know the options for transportation (express bus/ subway then bus/cab) but here's the question: Is there a consensus on the easiest/fastest way to get from midtown (east) to AECOM during late morning?

I believe the easiest way is the BMx10 which picks up in midtown and drops you off directly in front of the school. I'm sorry im not a native new yorker so i have no clue where you would get on board.

I hope the stress of application season isn't too bad for everyone. I remember last year the "unknown" of where i was going to end up was not fun, but it all works out 🙂. Again if anyone has questions about Einstein please feel free to pm me or ask msgs on the board. MS1's just finished histo and immuno now we are on a cancer and anatomy block, so things are a little busy but ill get back as soon as i can. Side note: our anatomy labs are on the 6th floor with huge open windows, with both PhD's and MD's circulating around always available to answer questions or point something out or teach you some random cool fact... im absolutely loving it =).

Good luck guys, this school is purely awesome.

Hi Everyone,

So I have an interview scheduled here for the 17th, but I may have to reschedule and I don't know if this is actually allowed but I was wondering if anyone that has an interview on Wednesday the 24th would be interested in switching with me? Like I said I don't know if this is possible yet, but if there is someone that is willing to do this, Please PM me. I would contact the lady with both of our infos. and hope that it is possible. I just don't want to reschedule to a much later date, so if any one is interested, please let me know! Thank you! :xf:

Late morning you are probably fine taking the express bus (Bxm10) from midtown. You can also take the 2 or 5 subway to 180th street and then take the Bx21 which also stops right in front of the school.

Hey, good luck with getting it rescheduled! I was told when I was scheduling mine back in July that they cannot be rescheduled...I am guessing they'd do it if it was some sort of "extenuating circumstance".

By the looks of things, it doesn't seem like they are anywhere near later applicants. How much of a disadvantage do you think people are that applied in late September/early October?

Secondary submitted 9/6
Complete email 10/28

Everyone I know who goes to Einstein whether medical student or researcher is in love with the place. Def keepin my head up for this school 😀

Hello from the admissions office! I'm sitting around waiting for my interview... my commute from the UWS only took an hour so I got here with plenty of time to kill. The admissions office is super sweet. And there's wifi, obviously.

Good luck!!

So does anyone know how long people tend to hang around with "Preliminary screen completed"? I've been following the thread but the statuses seem a bit random, or at least the time frames. Was just curious if this is turning into a hold or some sort of silent rejection?

I've been in the same category since late August! 🙁 no word yet

That's longer than me. I first got that status early October, maybe late September if I didn't check for a few days.

Argh, secondary was completed on 6/29 and I still have not received an invite or a no!
GPA: 3.3
MCAT: 32
I guess this is better than a no!

is there a status page? people keep talking about one but i cannot find it!

+1

I called admissions and they said the standard "there is no deadline on when a decision will be made and we continually look over applications during the cycle"

so basically, we've been looked over multiple times. I am thinking they dropped my application somewhere and its laying there, lonely on the ground hoping to someday be picked up our of "preliminary screening completed" 🙁
