Any idea of whether it's the Cumulative GPA or BCPM GPA?
I got the fee request on Friday at Midnight (Saturday at 12AM)...so I assume that they do it in batches, or they have an absolute cutoff. Granted, assuming that there is value to this formula people are posting, i did make the cutoff, so I don't really know what to say to you about your issue.
I would recommend not worrying about it and simply waiting for the fee request, because they do ask for money from all applicants (at least they say they do).

Yeah, don't worry: they will be asking for your money. 🙂
Besides, if they don't it will likely be one of the cheapest rejections you'll get 👍

250-300 get interviews
~72 are offered acceptances (including from alternate list)
personal statement is not read until after LORs are received.
42 MD-only spots available.
I don't think these numbers were completely the same as this past cycle (they are based on the class of 2013, IIRC), but should help just the same.

I got my LOR request this morning. It's very exciting.

They have a lot going on right now though so I would just get those LORs in as quickly as you reasonably can and try not to worry about it too much.

Do the letters automatically download from AMCAS or do they do it manually? I am wondering how it works if you designate some now and more later.
Mine are not assigned yet.
LOR request here as well. My letters were NOT on file currently, so I just assigned them this morning. However, similar to previous posts, it'll be a week-ish until all my letters are submitted. Putting my patience into overdrive, but hey it's out of my control right? 😎

Psh, at least you guys know the status of your letters. Our pre-med committee letters are going to be written "sometime this summer." I could get mine tomorrow or in August.

Hello my little chickadees! I am an incoming M1 at Mayo, and I'd be glad to help you with any questions/concerns you may have. I can offer particular insights on coming to Mayo from far away (east coast), the interview process, and what it's like to be hated by everyone in your class before they even meet you 🙂. But really, if you have any questions, ask away! Best of luck with your interview and decision processes - try to enjoy it!

I don't think you need to worry, Cole. You could probably apply the day after the deadline and get accepted pre-interview.
Though this is NOT directed at Cole, I will say that numbers, unlike at most other schools, do little for you at Mayo past a certain point.
As one of the deans passed along through a current med student there, they "look to make sure that the student has the horsepower (ie. minimum numbers they want) to do the work, and that's it."
Numbers alone, while great, will not get you an invite to MN.
Just be prepared for the time that someone on SDN with a 40+ MCAT 4.0 does NOT get an invite that is getting interviews left and right almost everywhere else; I'll bet it happens every year.
But on the upside, go for it. You never know...

Apart from Harvard, Mayo is the school I think I have the greatest chance of getting rejected from pre-interview.

Has anyone applying to the MD/PHD program at Mayo not gotten a fee request?
I'm above the cutoff, AMCAS verified the 23rd and sent to schools on the 25th, but I haven't heard from Mayo about the fee. I'm a little worried because people are already hearing back about LOR requests.

Don't worry about the fee...everyone is asked for it. Check your junkmail folders and whatnot. MMS may just be "late" in getting it to you.
Hey, I'm in the same boat. I think the MD/PhD program must just have a separate committee that looks over apps. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone though! I was starting to get nervous.

I believe that I would call and find out. You must have missed the email in some way.
Not completely sure as I did not apply MD/PhD, but I think they are on their own special little timeline, which IIRC is later than the MD only timeline (ie. I think they have later interview slots and the like, so I would imagine everything is shifted ever-so-slightly).

As mentioned earlier in the thread (for MD at least):
(GPA x 10) + total MCAT = 60+
I know someone with a 3.1 and 31 MCAT that passed Mayo's screen, so I wouldn't doubt this to be true.
So to receive a LOR request from Mayo, do you need to have a LizzyM score of 60 or above? I have a score of at least 61 and I haven't received a request yet. I guess I'm just a little confused about when this LizzyM formula is used. Is it before or after you send them the required fee? Some people are saying everyone gets the fee request.

The 10*GPA+MCAT formula is used before the fee request. If you got the fee request, then you passed that part of the screening. No one has figured out a surefire way of predicting the LOR requests. Last year it appears that Leadership experience was a key component on the activities. There were people with 39 MCAT's and a good GPA but no leadership that got rejected before the LOR request.
Along with nerday and bamtuba, I would like to offer myself as a resource to all students applying to Mayo right now. I have the additional benefit of having lived in Rochester for most of my life! While there are patterns to how things work (ie. most people will receive notifications at a certain time of day, some people will hear positive news quickly, and a few will be invited to interview at a very early timepoint), it helps to remember that the process can sometimes seem random, and the system is run by hard-working, but diligent people who are extremely busy.
If you have a legitimate question for the admin office, they will certainly answer your questions (as will my future classmates and I when we aren't off pulling teeth in Honduras or freezing to death in the frozen tundra that is Minnesota 😉). Just try to be patient with the process and give people time to do their jobs. You'll likely be glad you did 🙂

hopefully that's true b/c i submitted my fee on the 27th and haven't gotten a LOR request. hopefully it's not a rejection but at the same time it's only been a week..they might not have even looked at my app yet
Ya, Keep in mind these are HUMAN BEINGS spending 8 hours a day (presumably) looking at thousands of applications. Each person can only look at so many before needing to take a break, so these things take time...I had to wait a few days before receiving my LOR request compared to other students on SDN...so let's all relax, and be happy.

I stopped in to talk to Marcy yesterday, and she said they had already received 1200 applications. Don't get nervous if yours isn't processed right away - it is very early in the cycle, and Mayo does a very thorough job of reviewing apps. That translates to a lag sometimes, so think of it as a good thing. Also, I hope all of you make sure to enjoy your last year before medical school - while you're nervous, you're also free! Just sayin' 🙂
That's great to hear and also confirms what I had said earlier about them being swamped! We all just need to relax..if we're deserving of Mayo's precious time...then it will come! 😀 *fingers crossed that we all are...we SDNers can make up the incoming class of 2015 haha)
