Nope! My guess is tonight...as that has been the time when I've been receiving the Mayo emails...
Yeah, it seems like they email late Friday/early Saturdays so far.
If they already read our primaries prior to LOR requests, you'd think it would go pretty quick from here on out. Good luck everyone.
The admissions office told me that they sent over 40 sets of letters to the committee to review day before yesterday.
Sadly, my set was not one of them. Still waiting on one more (should be in the mail now).

Hey I'm pretty new to this site, but I received the 'complete email' on Tuesday the 6th. Went like this:
Dear Mayo Medical School Applicant,
Thank you for your continued interest in Mayo Medical School and for your patience with the application process. Your letters of reference have been received and attached to your AMCAS file. Your application is in review and you will be notified as soon as the review is completed.

I called to ask if it was appropriate for me to upload a few of my letters and what would trigger the file would have so that they would know that all of my letters were available.
Carmen's reply was that they would know the file was complete when all of the letters assigned to them were marked as received.
I then asked if I had missed the early batches of LOR's that went to the committee and she replied that she had already sent them the 40 that I mentioned.
Ya, I had submitted them via AMCAS to all of the schools to which I had applied. They still sent me a LOR request last Friday; however, I did not receive any kind of confirmation as of yet...I'm guessing they just haven't downloaded mine yet..*hoping*...
If I just found out that I'm going to get published as a co-author in a peer reviewed journal printed later this summer, when can I send them an update? I'd like to try to maximize my chances for an interview. Thoughts?
I'm reading this as I'm NOT complete because I assigned five letters to Mayo but only three are received by AMCAS.
Hmm...personally, I'm a bit stubborn and am against the whole update letter thing...but then again, it's one of those things that could, in theory, be the tip on the iceberg (whatever the phrase is)...meaning, it could be what scores you the interview! I don't view it as such, since Mayo doesn't seem to be looking "too much" at things like publications..although it certainly can't hurt.
I would send it to them now IFF (if and only if) they've already requested for your LORS, so that way they can review that update and the rest of your application...
There is no way that I would fail to tell them of something like that. Yes, absolutely, give them an update.

to you guys who are still waiting. I suspect they are "buried" under applications so they simply haven't gotten to yours yet. I say that because they sent me an LOR request last week and my letters are all on file with AMCAS, but Mayo hasn't sent me a complete email yet...
i called mayo on thursday, and they told me that they were receiving letters from several hundred applicants, so they probably are really backed up. has anyone at all who received a LOR request gotten a complete email yet? anyone with an interview invite?????
Haha, thats amusing. I can picture that exact scene with the mother getting excited happening too.
But yea, Mayo does like their admissions fees. I recall last year someone got the application fee request from Mayo so they went to the post office and dropped off the check... and then the very next day (before the check even arrived) he go a rejection letter from Mayo. So acording to this guy, Mayo still asked for the money even though they knew he was going to be rejected immediatly. : |
My guess is that the same as yours...that they are backed up. I got my request on the 2nd of July and it's been about 10 days...several epople on here have already received "complete" emails...but hey...I guess it's a waiting game. The only thing keeping me confident is that AMCAS has sent my letters to every other school, so it's not like Mayo "can't" find my letters lol.
I think they either ask for an LOR, reject you immediately, or reject you like 3-weeks later -- based on last years Mayo thread. I am about to get a letter ready for them -- begging them to consider me -- before they reject me in like a week (Of course, I am going to call first and ask if that is OK. haha)
So, basically, at this point I should be expecting a rejection any day? I wish they would at least give me a shot. Not really sure of any shortcomings on my application.
well... there is hope that they will consider your application for longer -- I mean, that's why they hold on to it for awhile -- they probably look at it one or two more times and consider if they want LORs from you. Honestly, I just feel like if they don't want a LOR from me immediately, what will make them change their mind the second time they look at my application... especially now they have more individuals to look at. There is still hope though
For those that are complete, has anyone heard anything?
I am waiting on 1 more letter to get to Interfolio before I submit all of them to AMCAS and attach them to Mayo. I wish that I had pushed all of these harder, on the other hand, telling your professors that their letters will be read by Mayo clinic tends to improve their writing skills.

Has there only been one wave of LOR requests?
Edit: nvm, it seems like it's in waves. The last major influx of LOR request was on July 2nd. Which was friday morning.

Received letter request early this morning (2 am).
just thought I would say... Mayo must care about more than numbers because I got a LOR request... with a 29 MCAT and 3.8 cGPA.... I didn't think I stood a chance.. especially after seeing people with better MCATs getting rejected.. I am not URM either though I am non-traditional

I was verified for my payment on 7/1/10. So 2 weeks to the day. I am shocked.. I figured I would get cut the first time.. so don't give up hope!
So these LOR requests are a good thing? I just thought they were routine emails!

but in all seriousness, you're not TOO late, as long as you have your MCAT score/app verified by the end of this month or at the latest, some time in August...That's the absolute latest to be "competitive" (in my opinion)..
just keep this in mind, the EARLIER, the better at this point.
Thanks for the encouraging replies everyone!! So I'm not out of the game, but I should really get on top of this... Even though I'm sure Mayo is out of my league anyway!
And I would way rather apply to McGill and of U of T for you - Canadian schools don't seem to care about how early you submit your application, so everyone just waits until the last minute (which means you have ages to go). Which is why this whole AMCAS system took me by surprise!

Montreal is a great city! Also maybe think about Vancouver - quality of life is amazing, like I've heard for Rochester too (though MN is a lot colder!)

Was verified yesterday and got the fee request early this morning. I paid it immediately and am waiting. Hopefully I get the LOR request. 😱
