you have to have an siumed.edu email to join I believe.
 
In regards to books, wait for the book sale or buy from students. Many students sell their books for a LOT cheaper than you find most places. Good way to save some cash.

VERY good advice. It came a little late this year for CRR, but I got Blumenfeld for like $15 and a few others as well.

I was just accepted to SIU School of Medicine.

From the second quarter.

I can't believe this. This changes MY WHOLE LIFE.

...it's going to take a long time to set in.

Currently sweating and shaking and trying to process all of this.

OMG.
 
FYI, why I am totally freaking out is because I am a reapplicant with a lower GPA. I was going to do a SMP next year but no, I'm going to be a MD!!! Class of 2015!! Not 2017 or 2025! I'm finally in!

Thank you! I followed you on this thread last year and thought it was so sad that you didn't get in, but it looks like things worked out for you this year! Class of 2015 rocks!

I can barely afford my deposit, lol...

I am also worried about financial aid because I worked full-time in 2010 and FAFSA calculated my EFC at $7,500! 😱 Will SIU's financial aid office work with me on this? I clearly do not have that in the bank.

I have this same issue, my EFC was 22k and there's no way I can do that. I called and asked about it, the initial award is only given based on that EFC from FAFSA. However, later this summer you will be able to make adjustments working with the financial aid office to make it more realistic if your EFC is not accurate.

Call and ask if you like, they are very helpful! 🙂

Alright, that's what I thought. Are financial aid packages sent to us soon after they receive our deposit? (Since it is already May and assuming we have filed our FAFSA) Or do I need to contact them first and set up a meeting?

got acceptance today via email!!! 😍 so very excited!! I've been going crazy by carrying my phone around everywhere I went, only to discover I received the acceptance via email hours later! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I believe she was. Also, as an observation, I think they are sending out acceptances on Tuesdays. My friend got one May 3rd, I did May 10th, and now leighlo May 17th.
 
You are correct I looked up previous post by them. I should have searched before I asked. There are 33 people in the facebook group, that is in no way an accurate representation of the overall class size right now, right?

I think you are right. I got mine on April 19th which was a Tuesday also.

nope.

3 of those people are faculty/staff, then there is me who will not be part of your class.

I looked back to my group and we only had about 60 people join and some of those didn't join until September.

Yeah, tons of people from my undergrad there. I'm kind of happy I am going to be in a different class though because it would literally be undergradX2.

If I didn't have a cat I would probably go with G & R Rentals. I have been looking at housing info like CRAZY. They look quite nice.

I actually have two cats and finally decided on the quadrangle apartments It's a one time fee of $100 per animal but they'll only be aware of one 🙂

I looked at those too! One of the few places that allow animals. I have mostly settled on Brookside and will be looking at a place and possibly signing a lease next weekend. As long as it's not rat infested..it's probably the best I'll get. I should reconsider the Quads as that is a much better pet fee. Hmmm...

If it's rat infested your cat will have something to do while you're spending all your time studying.

Well she did try to kill my parents' dachshund so I'm sure she could take a rat.
