Huh.... this is strange. I just received an e-mail saying my application was complete, but I interviewed a little over 2 weeks ago. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

This is normal procedure at UofA Tucson. I received the same email soon after my interview. It is them letting you know they have all materials (to include your interview) to evaluate you admission.

Oh, I just thought that you were supposed to receive the complete e-mail several hours after your interview at Tucson. At least, that's what it seemed like for other SDNers.

I received mine the day after my interview. Others I know was a week or so after. The wording you quoted earlier is verbatim from the email I received to that effect.

So no worries, all is well and normal.

When I call I have not been able to reach anyone but the answering machine?

I finally got through and the lady told me sometime this week. She said she had not been informed of the exact date as of now. She really sounded annoyed. If the decisions have been made for this round why don't they release them?

I suppose if you multiply all the anxious potential medical students calling the same office, asking the same questions would get old quickly. I propose they set up a status webpage to indicate the forecastable admissions information to avoid the likely pestering they must receive.

At least we share the info we find out individually here on SDN.

This is clearly why Phoenix uses a status page and sends frequent email messages after you leave campus about the process. As an applicant to many schools, including some of the older/established programs, I continue to be impressed with Phoenix.

Good luck guys. It's not fun waiting, but hopefully news will come your way soon.

Good Luck! Your file has been released to the College of Medicine-Phoenix Admissions Committee. Decisions will be sent anytime between October 15 through the mid-March.

You submitted your application on XX/XX/2010 for Application Year 2011. Your application was last updated 10/07/201

Hmm, well, I can't say I've really heard anything more from Phoenix than from Tucson.

I spoke with the admissions office roughly a week ago and was told there were two waves in December totaling roughly 30 acceptances (12+15).

Excellent. Tons of spots to go out. There are like ~110 spots(?), (of course 25% OOS), but then the waitlist can get up to #70 too!

If am med school posted information as they knew it generally, think of how much less headache they would have on the phones. If UoA Tucson projects release of the next wave midweek, state that on a status page. If it is to be pushed back, post a quick update. This little effort would go a long way for the sanity of the applicants and admissions support staff alike.

Then again why mess with tradition lol.

I called Phoenix and they said that the selection committee will be meeting on the 31st and will be releasing acceptances the same day. After that there will be one more wave in mid-february and then waitlist.

I can't call while at work, but what I do know is that my e-mail box is still empty. It is sad and lonely in there, except for the exciting moments where I get a "ping" and check my e-mail only to find it's another groupon code. Sigh.

I'm at work too, and every incubation step during the RNA amplification process is unfortunately, being used to continually refresh my inbox.

I am innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!! Good luck everyone!!!

Congratulations!! Also, congrats to anyone who hasn't posted their acceptance!

Nothing for me, this time. I shall have to wait until next month.

Accepted. Best feeling in the world! Good luck to everyone else waiting

Do they also send out rejections or do we have to wait and wait some more?

I believe that you only hear good news or you hear nothing until March/April/whenever they send out the waitlist. At that point you will learn your waitlist ranking or they will send a rejection.

Its in March.

Its in March.

Thanks! As I was typing that, I realize I had been assuming that May 15th (the deadline for those holding multiple acceptances) was the waitlist release date and I had no idea when the real release was.

Good luck everyone! I wish you all the best!

Cheers

Congratulations for those whom the wait is over. As for the rest I will be here with you. Pounding the refresh button on my inbox. You are not alone.

Congratulations to those accepted today! I was wondering if you'd share your stats???

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thank you!

GPA 3.7, MCAT 28M, Worked 10,000 hours in 4 years undergad, research, publication, worked at UMC for a 1 year, and have done general shadowing.

Its not all about the MCAT guys, so much more counts! If you work hard and really strive for this, you will get there!

good luck

congrats everyone who got in. i'm still in the same boat as the rest of you. really getting hard to keep my head up since i have a 4.0/36 and it's clear that they are just rejecting my personality..

they are just rejecting my personality..

Not necessarily. I happen to know a prominent UA physiology professor who stopped doing interviews at the UA because he was disgusted that the great candidates he interviewed didn't get in. There are many, many anecdotes about great candidates with great personalities not getting in to UA even though they get into great schools elsewhere.

does anyone know if its all the acceptances for this month that was released today? or are there going to be more tomorrow or friday?

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

To those who got in today...first of all, congrats! Second, when did you all interview?

Anyone know how to review process works at Tucson? Say, for example, people who interviewed after me have already been accepted, so it's clear that my app has already been reviewed. Is that basically an indication that I will be either rejected or waitlisted? Are my chances of direct acceptance very slim?

thanks for the morale boost. unfortunately, i didn't apply to any other schools. i was well prepared to take the hit of not getting in, but it's just very discouraging when it actually happens.

Out of curiosity, can I ask why you only applied to one school?

4.0/35 reapplicant without an acceptance here - also with significant volunteer/work exp. in health care. UA seems so random in their choices sometimes...

it's only my third year so i didn't want to put out 20 applications because i figured chances were slim given my age. i really want to stay in state and i figured it would be easier to get into ua than anywhere else, so i decided to just shoot the moon and see if i could make things easier on myself.

Fair enough, good luck!
3.9/36 here, also suffering through wave after wave of silence...

wow, solidarity with people who have amazing stats. we should form a support group.

The scary thing is, I was told that UofA likes to reject people with stats like ours because they believe we won't actually matriculate if accepted. Sucks when that is not the case :/
