New member, loooooong-time lurker (4-years long) 😀 Great to meet everyone!

I had a question: I am interviewing at the Phoenix campus next Monday (14th). I've become painfully aware that this is a late interview date, at this point would I be interviewing for a wait-list spot? Or do I have a legitimate shot?

Also, being an MMI, I'm very nervous - it sounds stressful! I've done some internet 'research' and asked my advisor about them, but I still don't feel like I'm ready to tackle this. Any last-minute pointers?

Forgive my ignorance. What is MMI?

To prep for the interview I would prepare for the obvious standard questions. Further I would highly recommend making use of the "Interview Feedback" section of the Student Doctor Network website! Breathe easy, they are humans just like you 🙂

From what I understood from my interview the people on the 14th still are interviewing for a spot and not just a waitlist spot.

Be confident and relate everything back to relevant experiences you had. It think it is important that whatever question they ask, you talk about that in context of some experience you had previousely.

Other than that, there is nothing else to worry about. People who interview are really nice. Also dont feel like you have to talk for the entire 8 minutes or so. Once you have answered the question sufficiently, you should stop and the interviewer will ask you follow-up questions.

If you do have a station where you "messed up" or didnt do as well as you wanted to do, just move on. Dont keep thinking about the previous station.

Congratulations to anyone else who got accepted (I presume there were quite a few), and good luck to everyone else! I understand there are still many spots to give, so stay positive 🙂

MSc from the International Max Planck Research School for Molecular Biology in Goettingen, Germany, with thesis conducted at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.

A loooong time ago. My birthday came and went, the snow fell then melted, I started and ended relationships, my hair is thinner and my face a little more tired, I witness the births and deaths of politicians - the memory of my interview at Tucson is a mere faint wisp.

But to answer your question, first week of September.

Is this the case? I'd be simply crushed. 🙁

I understand that the application process is lengthy and sometimes random, but I simply don't know what more I could have done. I have the basic numbers, the EC's, and the letters. My interview was early and, to the best of my knowledge, went well.
I simply haven't a clue what wasn't good enough and what I could have done differently. 🙁

73 Students from the alternate list were accepted

I don't think this represents the most recent class - the Tucson admissions page is outdated - says class of 2013, so these are 2009 applicants. Probably close, but not entirely accurate. Regardless, scores aren't everything.

I obtained the numbers from paperwork from the admissions office. I'm going off memory as I do not have them in front of me now, but I believe they were representative of the 2014 class. I will verify later.

Scores are not everything, I absolutely agree. UofA statistics show that they have accepted lesser score averages than what was in their consideration pool in some categories, thus indicating scores are not everything. Keep in mind the numbers given are averages. The speculation comes concerning the spread.

No, you're right, only one to go for Tucson. But two left for Phoenix, I believe. So 3 in total for both campuses.

I don't think I have it in me to apply a fourth time. I can't keep watching the years fly by with no career. Oh well, I have a Master's degree, community college faculty position here I come. 🙄 In any case, let's at least get some more SDNers in at these two schools...good luck to all for these final rounds!

I dont think you should give up if you dont get accepted this year. There is still enough time for you to apply for Caribbean. You can still practice medicine with a degree from there.

This wait is killing me, and at this point I am just hoping to land somewhere close to the top of the waitlist....it's painful. I wish University of Arizona just reviewed applicants as they interviewed, saving us these long months of extremely unpleasant waiting. I interviewed in September...

I dont think you should give up if you dont get accepted this year. There is still enough time for you to apply for Caribbean. You can still practice medicine with a degree from there.

After thorough investigation, I think DO is a better route. I've already been accepted to DO programs this year....I'm just really hoping for an MD spot.
