I stopped in the admissions office to see where the list is at and Ann said it is at number seven already!

That is is pretty good movement for just one day 🙂

Good luck everyone!

Anyone know if there is still a chance for people on the wlist for phoenix? Haven't heard much about movement off the w list at all...

The final decision day for Phx campus is in like a week, so I expect we will see some movement off of that pretty soon. I am on the mysterious Phx waitlist and I haven't heard anything yet.

My SDN homies on the WL,

There is good reason for you all to still be hopeful, especially if what Ann told my group on our interview day holds true. More specifically, she said that the COM was anticipating more waitlist movement than last year (71). She also agreed that Dorothy Mantooth is, in fact, a saint.

I hope all is well,
Brandon

I agree, she is already in med school but still shows the wait list love.

PS
MedHopeful777 you really need to work on that CBI presentation. I mean seriously, come on.

There's a starter. I replaced 2006 with this year's, for multiple reasons. I actually have to run, but someone think about taking the 'WL graph baton' in a month or so 😀

Sorry bout the size - I'll shrink it in a few hours when I'm free.

I kind of like it enormous 😀 Makes it feel more... encompassing?

Thanks everyone for pitching in to the charting effort!

Congratulations! See you this fall.

Quick movement already on the waitlist!

Just wait for May when movement really picks up!

Hi guys!

HOLY MOLY! I called this morning and it was at #8, wow.

BTW I saw the threads about Eddie Izzard, I just watched the madison square garden show on netflixs. "weave mother f*!...wait it's stuck to my pants"

My favorite is still the squirrel in make up

Just curious if anyone knows if the wait list people are notified only one time a day or is it throughout the day whenever someone drops their acceptance?

They send them out throughout the day whenever someone drops their acceptance. That is why this morning someone called and it was at 8, then later in the day it was up to 10. Last year the Monday after National Decision Day, something around 10-15 acceptances were sent out in just a few days, so it keeps up a pretty nice pace.

Just curious if anyone knows if the wait list people are notified only one time a day or is it throughout the day whenever someone drops their acceptance?

Watching ya'll go through this is giving freaking me out for next year....People interviewed in september and didnt hear a word back untill Mid- April....WHAT! That is crazy...
I hope everyone gets in off the waitlist(because I'm a nice guy...or because it means less competition next year 😉

Good luck!

Does anyone know what kind of movement the waitlist for Phoenix had last year, especially for OOS?

Does anyone know if U of A has a list of match results from 2010 or 2011, I'm having a hard time finding anything other than articles

wow...just saw the front page of the arizona republic - 22% tuition increase??? holy moly...

From what I have heard this is just undergrad. Med school tuition will be raised too most likely, but not 22%.

I hope to god this is true. Why don't they cut funding for useless crap like the english department and put that money towards a program granting useful degrees like the college of medicine? I'd rather have a piece of toilet paper than a paper saying I had a philosophy, english, etc. degree, cuz at least the toilet paper will be beneficial to me at some point in the future...🙄

Also, I'm not sure if I trust this post by MedHopeful, because SDN says it was made at like 7:45. Unless there is some kind of emergency, I've never known MedHopeful to be up by 7:45 voluntarily on the weekend...😛

Holy bigotry batman! Don't assume that medicine is the most important degree simply because its the one that interests you. 👎thumbdown👎
Good undergrad programs aren't really designed to teach a subject anyway - they're designed to teach learning skills and prepare students for future education and a lifetime of learning.

Wow! That is definitely the most ignorant comment I have heard in a LONG time, especially from one that is "educated". Those people that got degrees in philosophy and English are most likely the ones that will eventually go to law school to keep your butt out of mal-practice trouble.

I agree that a simple liberal arts degree is not vey marketable right now however, to say it is useless is a stretch. I would not recommend anyone with a fiscal budget to pursue such a degree.

I suppose the key statement from you is "beneficial to you"

In my opinion there is far too much push for secondary education in the US. It is far to expensive and bloated. What we lack now is work ethic and personal responsibility. Just my rough and very generalized opinion.

Come on everyone, lrkoehle is just joking around. That wasn't by any means a serious comment. Irkoehle makes just as many jokes about the medical specialty as any other (this time it just happened to be English) 🙂 When you study around the clock day in and day out you have to be able to laugh now and again.

I was joking around. This is like the 3rd time in a couple of days that I have flippantly posted something here or on facebook, and then realized after I did it that maybe some one would be offended. In my defense though, I did use an emoticon to indicate I was jk, rotflmao, LOLz-ing.

We have many non-science majors in our class, and I absolutely respect the hard work those people put in getting their degrees. Plus, the only way I'd rather have toilet paper than a philosophy or english degree is if it was Charmin, which I didn't say in my original post. No way I'd trade an english degree for some single-ply crap; I'd just use the nice paper they print the degree on...:meanie: 🙄 😛 😀 😱 :zip: :scared: :poke:  :biglove:

What if said degree was printed on Charmin ultra soft?

If people here lurked last year's thread they'd know that almost everything that comes out of Lrks mouth is pure 100% drivel. 😉

Yeah it was really great meeting all of you Phoenix second lookers on Friday. Sorry I wasn't able to make it to the events on Saturday, I tried to study up on the renal I'm behind on (that didn't really happen, though I did learn that we have two kidneys. Which is more than I knew about the matter before I started). You guys and gals all seem like a really cool bunch of people and I'm very thankful to be at a school that accepts great candidates like you. I hope that we can help you out with the transition as much as the current crop of second years has helped us, so hit us up with any questions or concerns.

It was really great to meet the Second Lookers. Not only are they a bunch of pretty great candidates, they were also really fun. This is going to be a great class. Good luck to all of you on the wait list. There were a few people that weren't 100% decided on where they were going yet, and there were several no shows, so anything can happen. I figure that after meeting Shep and me, there will be a bunch of people that are going to strongly consider their other options. Just trying to help out the SDNers.

Also, two kidneys? I feel like they should have mentioned that in the lectures. I should be studying twice as hard, but as of now I'm at about 20% of normal. Second look ≠ good studying time.

I haven't heard anything about how Tucson's second look went... for those that went, how'd it go?

Speak for yourself man. I was listed as 3 of the 5 top reasons to attend UACOMPhx in Awesome Weekly.

That's because it hasn't happened yet 😛

The Tucson 2nd look is this Thursday through Saturday.

They changed it to a multiple day affair this year? I feel like we got short changed last year now...

Long time follower, first post EVER 😎. Waitlisted at UA PHX. Does the April 15th deadline mean anything besides some hopeful movement of the waitlist?
