I called Tucson on my lunch break to get the official waitlist #, but they told me they are not releasing it until tomorrow because things are still shifting pretty quickly over there.

Hopefully that means good news is on it's way!

I called yesterday around 4:30pm and the person I talked to said they were at #49. She was off by at least one (since we know medgolfer was accepted) but the waitlist definitely seems to have slowed down.

Hopefully it will start moving a little more soon.

You're right. It's just hard to wait for so long, and then have the waitlist get so close to my number, but not actually reach it yet.

Also, work is slow which is leaving me more time to stare at my inbox and will e-mails to pop up. I can't start any new projects since I'm leaving soon, so things are kind of starting to wind down.

I'm not allowed to take on any more projects either. In turn, I'm stuck at the computer calculating delta delta CTs from the 20 qpcr plates I ran last week. In any case, I know you'll feel better with the acceptance in-hand. If I were you, I would go ahead and start filling out scholarship applications, since the deadlines for those are coming up soon.

Concerning Phoenix: Tara Cunningham said yesterday that Phoenix has to fill 4 positions. I would assume they have already done that on the waitlist. Ouch. Good thing I am not holding my breath for that waitlist to pan out! It's nice to hear that the Phoenix campus is so popular- on my interview day it was clear that a lot of effort has gone into selling the school and making their program attractive. It is obviously paying off for them!

She never really made the distinction. It sounded more like they only had to fill 4 spots up to now. But, she did not make it clear. It could be that they are still trying to fill 4 spots, but I am not sure.

I think I figured out how to make it appear larger...maybe got carried away with the size.

Anyway, as you can see we are still tracking with last year's numbers for the most part. I promise there is a tiny purple triangle under there!)

Hopefully we'll continue this trend and see the waitlist go up higher than last year!

We are already over halfway through the entire SDN waitlist. Good luck to everyone still waiting, I hope the movement is swift!

In my acceptance letter, it stated that I had about 2 weeks to respond (although let's not kid anyone- I sent off my letter yesterday). So my guess is that after this initial movement, there will be another jump in a week or so as some of the people pulled of the waitlist decline.

I was sent an acceptance email a few hours ago! A few hours before that, though, I confirmed acceptance at a school that is offering a much larger scholarship but is also in a much colder state. Give me a couple days to think but it's likely I'll be giving my spot up to some other lucky waitlister.

Hello,

As you know, the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix required students to confirm their intent to matriculate into the entering class of 2011 on April 18, 2011. Many other medical schools made the same request of the students holding acceptances on May 16, 2011.

Despite these two national deadlines, the College of Medicine-Phoenix has experienced very little movement and our roster of entering students has remained unchanged since early-May.

I encourage you to continue planning for your next step, whatever thay may be, while you remain on our waitlist through mid-July. Again, our class will be considered final on July 18, 2011.
