Soooooo bummed that a ton of other schools are giving out acceptances today.....I want to hear from UC DAVIS!!!!!!!!!!! Although, ethical kudos to Davis for actually listening to AAMC........even if it is bumming me out. :scared:
 
It's exciting to be soo close to getting some students into the UCDSOM class of 2015! I'm a first year, and if anyone has any questions I'll do my best to answer them. There is a lot of time left in this application cycle, so "try" not to fret too much... Good luck!
 
After a month of being verified, I finally got done yesteday. This morning, I got the typical "Your application is under review"...Less than an hour later "we regret to inform you ...."

😛 I mean, I knew I didn't really have a shot as an OOS, but we can dream right!
One less secondary I have to do I guess.
 
What did they write in their "we regret to inform you" email?

to all who have/will have interviews, i wanted to let you know a couple things....

1) davis is awesome...but i'm sure u knew that
2) they were pretty good at helping everyone relax b4 the mmi
3) they answer every single question you have about mmi before you start so don't worry, come with questions.
4) I actually enjoyed the mmi, pretty fun...and so did everyone else interviewing with me.
5) Good luck...and yes the rumors are true, they make you sign a waiver not to talk about the interview...so all i have to say is....be prepared to play hide and seek.........just kidding.

(I'm pretty sure I told davis that I'm more efficient when I make lists...i hope they believed me!😀)

Thank you for applying to the UC Davis School of Medicine. Your application was thoroughly reviewed by at least one member of the Admissions Committee. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you a position for the class entering in July 2011. I mean, it's a pretty polite rejection but I want to know how someone could have "thoroughly reviewed" my application in a matter of an hour. :laugh:

I don't take it too personally. not a CA resident, though I do have pretty strong ties. Woulda been nice to at least get a secondary but I guess they saved me the money.

Only like 5 of my 25 schools screen so I've got a ton of essays to write.

If that were true, there is NO WAY in hell I would have gotten a secondary. I have a sub 30 MCAT score, decent GPA, pretty good ECs...I like to think schools look at the whole package. 🙂
 
for those of you who inteviewed on the 15th was that day for people of applied as disadvantaged? I remember there were 2 dates like that.

Do you guys know if there was anything different on that day?
 
Nothing so far. Afraid that they made calls starting at 8 AM...
 
I want someone who got the acceptance call to post already. So I can be put out of my misery.
 
daaamn i have a midterm tomorrow. This is going to be difficult. I figure the only way I'll get an A is if I get rejected today.

I'm having some frustration trying to schedule this interview. I got my invite on Friday and the ONLY available day is February 25th, 2011. Which I know already I'm not available on (parents are flying across the country to visit that weekend). I called to see if they had a waitlist for cancellations for earlier dates, they don't. I asked if they were planning on releasing more dates, they said "not many, we only interview through March". I asked if they knew WHEN they'd release additional dates, they said no. "You just have to keep checking back every day". They also said that they wouldn't be releasing ANY dates before Feb 25th, anything new would be after that date. :annoyed:

Has anyone else had any success with having any more than ONE option for scheduling?
 
Crap I got sooooo nervous when I saw the Davis thread pop back up to the top. I was hoping it meant calls had started coming out. This is the longest day EVER!!!!! I even took my phone into the bathroom with me while I showered. Pathetic I know but necessary!

This makes me feel like if I haven't received an interview invite yet (I haven't), it's unlikely that I will.

This school is a super reach for me, but I was trying to keep the hope alive anyway...

Hahaha I've been feeling like that the whole day and I'm on the east coast.. An extra three hours of suspense
They could call afterhours.. OSU does for interviews. But who knows maybe they're not even calling today
just gotta muster some uh .. patience
 
Maybe we should start taking bets on when they will start the calls.....
 
What theshellyb said makes me so sad! I hope they open up more interview spots for those who need to resched. and those who dream about an interview invite(me)! It's kind of amazing that they are filled all the way up to almost the end of Feb.

Yeah this is getting a bit ridiculous.... When I interviewed they were so confident that people would find out Oct 15 (or within 2 weeks of the interview). I met a guy today who interviewed at Davis this past Friday and was told he would find out in 4 weeks.
 
Whelp, I just popped my rejection cherry about 10 min ago...

Edit: Something interesting I just noticed... I no longer am anxious/happy when I check my email compulsively, now just anxious/jaded if that makes any sense... 🙁

I submitted my secondary on 9/26 and just got an e-mail with the PRIME secondary attached. Did anyone else indicate interest and wait for the e-mail from PRIME, or did you guys manage to find the secondary on your own?! I hope I am not TOO late...🙁.

The already have interviews scheduled through Feb??!! I've been complete since July and haven't heard a peep since. :idea:

I filled out & turned in the UC Merced-PRIME at the same time as the secondary. Not sure how the rural-PRIME program app works.

Update, for anyone interested: They just released a March 11, 2011 interview date (which I had to sign up for, such a bummer it's so far away). The February date has been filled (or, at least it's not showing as available on the web site, which I'm assuming means it filled up).

I called today to try to get an idea about my status since I've been complete since ~8/20 and it seems like they've far past that date in extending interviews. No luck though, I was just told that 2 months in a normal amount of time to elapse between complete status and interview invites/rejects, and that I should just be patient.

This makes it sound like they either invite you or reject you on the first pass. However, I have been complete since mid-July and still haven't heard anything. I think this must mean that they have a third category: a "maybe we will interview this guy if we have some extra free time at the end of the cycle," kind of category.

Hey SirOliver sorry to hear about the waitlist. I'm sure there will be a lot of movement for Davis since they're accepting so few. When was your interview day if you don't mind me asking?

Wait list is ok! Didn't someone say they accept 20%, waitlist 20%, and deny the rest? I'm hoping for a lot of activity from Davis this week!!

When did you interview? But also, how did you hear about the decision, if you don't mind? Email, snailmail, online status, etc?
