Anyone tried calling the admissions office to ask about decisions? At my interview (9/3) they told us they would get back to us by November 1.

I'd like to know this too!! My interview was late Sept, and they told us pretty much Oct 15... then of course we got the email saying it could be "through early Nov."

I glanced at the thread from the 2009-2010 application cycle, and it looks like on November 5th last year, they came out with the final decisions for a large number of interviews conducted throughout September and early October.

Of course, this is the first year Davis is using MMIs, so it's actually highly likely they won't be going with the same schedule as they did last cycle.

But, there is a chance.

Just call Ed and apparently there are only 21 interview spots left for the last interview day in March, and about 250 applicants competing for those spots......man this is getting intense...

Who is Ed and how does he know this?

I don't suppose Ed was nice enough to mention when the remaining 250 of us would be finding out, was he?

He told me that we'll be waiting to hear back until January, but according to last year's thread, a lot of people will hear back by December as there was a mass rejection sent on on 12/1/09. Keep your fingers crossed people...

If anything, the MMI should make it easier for them to evaluate a candidate.. aren't we graded in numbers instead of opinions?

At any rate, I hope we find out soon!

After waiting waiting waiting for all this time, got a terse email from them about 5 minutes ago.

Rejected.

Hey guys, I'm sorry to hear that, but keep your heads up. It's darn hard, but we all knew it would be walking in =/.

It sounds like a wave is coming.

rejected as well 🙁 my first post-interview news..

hopefully im not just lying to myself but dont feel terrible about the rejection.. they seemed like they were tweaking mmi as they went along so we were kinda guinea pigs.. im really digging for positivity here haha still pretty bummed though

Rejected post-interview 🙁. I haven't been invited to any other interviews... so I'm feeling pretty glum...

wooooww sorry to hear that everybody. You still got plenty of time though. I'm sure you haven't heard a peep from half of the schools you applied to. As for me, still no word, interviewed 9/10. Anyone with good news this week? 😕

You should probably be hearing from them today. I have a feeling they are blazing through just the September interviews right now, as I have only heard or read about final post-interview decisions being given to September interviewees. (I interviewed on 10/1, so just on the border). If that is true, and if it is also true that the adcom meets only at regular intervals, that means more weeks of waiting for me. Unfortunate, but that's okay. Best wishes to all applicants and to the adcom.

Seems like no news may be good news for September interviews.

Rejected last night via email. Ouch. 🙁 Interviewed 9/10.
Good luck to everyone else.

Dang...this doesn't sound good!
From my interview (10/15), it was obvious that they are changing and bettering the MMI's every single time due to feedback that they get. So, all the september interviewees, as well as some october ones were the Guinea pigs. However, they mentioned during my interview day that it didn't matter because you would be graded based on how well you performed compared to everyone else that day.

This doesn't make sense...so either they lied and everyone who interviewed early is totally at a disadvantage, or they have a certain number of open slots per interview group invited and it's the luck of the draw depending on who else is interviewing with you. I don't like either of the options.

Regardless of which one it is, Davis isn't doing a very good job of making me like them right now.

I did the oct 15th date as well and thats what I remember hearing too. We were told that we will be evaluated against only the other interviewees on that day which makes a lot of sense.

I think the way they do it must be numerical. I think every applicant is assigned a numerical value and then people above a certain cut off point will get offers while mid level get a hold and others a rejected. This is only speculation but it seems like a logical way to do it since its a standardized way of evaluating applicants.

Does that mean there are only 21 spots left for rest of the cycle? Or 21 spots left for that day?

Dude I haven't heard anything from them either, and I was complete on 10/19/2010.

I asked Ed about remaining interview spots left last week and there are only 21 spots left for the last interview date in late March. All the other spots are completely filled. It's probably even less than 21 now since it's been a week...

Really? Davis stops interviewing ALTOGETHER in late March?

Thats so weird .. I'm doing an internship at the UCD Medical Center, and one of the M3's told me he interviewed pretty late .. definitely later than March hmm

I'm pretty much giving up on Davis at this point. I doubt they're holding one of those <20 interviews for me.

This thread has grown eerily quiet.

I know right? I interviewed 2 months ago and still no word. I would LOVE to cancel some upcoming interviews and save some money if it's an acceptance. :xf:

Odd that practically no one has posted even a single acceptance ... They said "early November" =/. Oh well, they're trying their best I'm sure. We'll just have to wait it out.

Waitlisted today. I'm pretty bummed since I really liked this school. They said the waitlist is unranked, how do they make decisions on who to admit off of it?

Good luck everyone! :luck:

Sorry Moogle, I don't know the exact answer to your question, but I wanted to encourage you a little bit. During one of the interview day lunch presentations I was sitting in on, somebody asked how many people typically get in off the waitlist. One of the second years that works with the admissions committee said that they expect to pick up about 50 from the waitlist... 50/100 is decent odds! Of course it's not ideal but you are far and away from being in a bad spot. Good Luck!

P.S. I love your profile pic... hilarious 🙂

Sorry to hear abt the waitlist moogle, but you still have hope! :xf::luck:

Anyone else hear back from the 10/15 interview group??

I was 10/8 & haven't heard anything. I don't know if I should be encouraged or discouraged when I hear that people who interviewed after me have been wait-listed.

Davis only places 100 people on the waitlist???? where did you hear that? That makes me feel a bit better about being waitlisted :-\

You can you find that information on the website: http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/mdprogram/admissions/process.html

Wait-list obviously suck, but a lot of my classmates are off the wait-list. Because of our small class size, our initial acceptances are just enough to fill the class. So there is sure to be a lot of movement as those early acceptances decide between schools.

Thanks! I guess being in the top ~205/450 of interviewees isn't so bad! Still hoping for some movement though....I loved Davis 🙂

To those who interviewed already (or current students)

Is there no student hosting at Davis? I can't find any mention of it in either of the emails or on the website. Up until this point I have always stayed with a host and don't want to miss out on the opportunity if it exists! Plus the idea of staying in a hotel by myself is depressing haha.

All of my interview emails had information about how to contact the student host coordinator.

Anyone lucky enough to receive one of the last few spots? I feel hopeless 🙁

I lost hope when I got a 29R on the MCAT and thought that I didn't have a chance this application round. But the next day I got a secondary from Davis and before I knew it I had secondaries from all the UC's, including UCSF. I actually got the interview notification from Davis last week, but I'm still waiting for them to update the available interview dates so I can schedule it. So remember to never lose hope. If you're determined to get into medical school you will, it's just a matter of time and perseverance. Best of luck!

ACCEPTED!!! I got the call this afternoon!!!:highfive::clap:

OMG!!! I received an interview call from the PRIME coordinator this morning! WOO...!!! I'm there 1/6 and 1/7. IS, 3.55 BCPM, sub 30 MCAT, tons and tons of experiences (I'm old 🙂!) Good luck all!

I just want to hear something from Davis. Good or bad. I've been complete since 07/20 and this is the only school I am still waiting to hear from. I can't wait to be done with this process. I will be thrilled to never come on these threads again!!!

Complete-8/14
Interview Request-11/22

Hey does anyone what Davis's policy is for letter of appeals to rereview a rejected application? Do they just outright say no appeals or actually read it first?
