All we need to do right now is fafsa. Then, we need to submit some stuff to the financial aid office by May. Atleast that's what it says in my acceptance packet. I'm not sure if Kip is just really early or mixed up with another school, but we're fine.

I'm talking about the "some stuff" that is due by May. The SOM Institutional Form found here:

http://www.ofas.uci.edu/content/ApplyingForAid.aspx?nav=19

Tells you to login to access it. I guess I am really early, but I want to see what they offer as soon as possible/I'm bored. Your UCI ID can be found on the top of your admissions status page.

I interviewed 9/21 and was accepted 10/31

Anyone know if we are getting ipads next year?

Was a "maybe" when I interviewed.

Reaching into my pocket and finding an ipad during my white coat ceremony would be sweet 👍.

For those accepted.. mind posting stats?

Got the call over the weekend, really excited. Love the school, faculties, and students.
GPA ~ 3.3
Mcat > 30
IS
non traditional app, mission based
Good luck for everyone who is still waiting.

So I know they call you if you're accepted, but how do they inform you if you're on the alternate list... or rejected? Email or just status change?

I'm hoping I get a call, I love it here! 😍:xf:

Alternate Lists are done through status page. When did you interview? Goodluck! I wish I get the call come May since I got waitlisted :/

I interviewed today lol 🙂. Obviously I know it's going to be a while until I hear back, but I was just wondering how they give out the news. Thanks for the info, GL to you!! :luck:

Does anybody know when the next batch of PRIME-LC acceptances will be??:corny:

haha yeah haven't really seen too much of 30 rock. I've seen a little and it's not too bad. I should get on it.

Has anyone been pending review since August and not heard back? Do they give out rejections?? Has anyone received a pre-interview rejection yet?

I've been pending review since August as well. My friend told me that hers did get updated a while back with a "Denied" or "Rejected" or something sad like that. They didn't even email her.. just a silent rejection.

I think there are a number of us who have been pending review for a long time (since 8/4 for me). I searched last year's thread and it looks like some people last year who were in this position called the office and were told that they had been reviewed once and were on hold to be reviewed by a second person. A few of them ended up getting interviews, and some eventually got rejected. I'm not sure if the same is true for this year, but maybe. I think there's still hope.

I finally got my W-2, so I completed my fafsa. I tried to log in to complete the institutional form, but I couldn't get it to work either. Apparently, we can get our UCI ID, but as applicants we can't log in. I assume they will either send us additional instructions, or if we wait it will work eventually. Did you have any luck getting it to work?

Still nothing. The Institutional form wasn't even mentioned in the acceptance packet of things to fill out, but I guess it might be a new thing this year?

Also, the Certification Form, which was mentioned in the acceptance packet is available but I believe its still the old 2010 version. They have yet to update it. Go to the financial aid page, and click "Login to My Aid" on the left. Under "print my forms" the old 2010 certification form is there. It's filled in with your name and everything, but I guess we have to wait for them to update it.

Anyone have any idea how much aid UCI gives in terms of both need/merit based aid?

Not sure how much its changed. Merit is hard to get. I know one person who got a 5k/year merit scholarship.

Need-based is basically filling in the gaps between cost of tuition and federal Stafford maximums for any student whose parents make less than 100k (or maybe 80k I forget what they told us). So if the cost of attendence is 50k and you can get 38k in Stafford loans then they will fill the rest with grants or need-based institutional loans.

Currently, the federal stafford max seems to be $20,500 (http://www.staffordloan.com/stafford-loan-info/).

They make up the difference in tuition, or COA?

Do we need to fill out a separate application to apply for the Grad Plus Loans?

No you fill out the paper work they give you and then when you get your financial aid package IF it includes grad plus or other loans they will have you fill it out. They will make you do your Stafford promissory note at that time too.

I don't know too many people who can't either have their parents cover the gap or get institutional loans/grants to cover the gap. They try to avoid the higher interest rates/private loans plus you need credit approval for those ones so it gets trickier.

Also, I don't think they're called grad PLUS anymore. I think they got rid of that program. I think its just private loans now (which is what it always was it was just government backed).

EDIT: yeah they're Direct PLUS now. http://www2.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/DirectLoan/student.html Just cut out the banks as the middle man.

I checked out the form you are talking about, but the financial aid stuff is still for last year. From my previous experience with financial aid in undergrad, after you submit fafsa and the school reviews it, then they request the certification form and your tax documents for verification.

So, I don't think it is anything to worry about yet.

I got my interview invite IN december, and the closest interview date was Middle March.

I live 30 minutes away, and would really like to go sooner. Does UCI have cancellation list I can get on if an earlier date were to open up?

Is it unheard of to request earlier dates?

Is it too late to get an interview invite here...?? Been complete since 8/16/10..

For anyone who was accepted. I received the acceptance packet and I mailed back the required documents without checking if the envelope needs stamps? I was wondering if anyone remembered if the envelope was pre-stamped? Or should I call the school to resend me the acceptance packet?

pre-stamped! 🙂

just got rejected. Sooo weird definitely was not expecting that. I have a 36 MCAT and a 3.7 GPA and a lot of experiences. Is there a way I could find out why I was denied?

I am sorry to hear this! Was this Pre or post interview?

Sorry to hear that. You can email the admissions coordinator/director and see what they have to say. They may be able to offer you something specific now or ask that you wait and if you don't get in anywhere they will meet with you and offer you some critiques.

Congrats!!...Mind posting stats?

Sure thing.

GPA 3.9 science and overall.
Average MCAT (~30)
Good volunteering.
Good research.
CA resident.

I think all the other stuff in my application made up for my lame MCAT score.
