Anyone else's pending review change to "under review - final interview status due by March 1st"? O___O'

Thanks for the heads up! i just checked and my status says that as well...

it's kind of sad to know that they ignored my application THIS LONG when they had it the entire time.... i was making myself feel better by convincing myself that they had lost my application. boo. 🙁 here's to wishing for miracles~<3

same as you guys. i was thinking the same thing. :xf:

No, I'm regular md.

oh I was thinking maybe the difference in due dates was because you were md/phd haha xD I guess it corresponds to complete date, reviewer, or they're just staggering the dates so they don't get flooded with decisions or something...

I got this too. My heart sank when I saw the red ink. I thought it was a rejection. Let's hope more interview invites come out soon!

I submitted early, like late July..so I think it has to do with date staggering..and possibly "priority/interest"

Yeah - I'm thinking more priority/interest than anything (this has been driving me crazy all morning). I'm thinking that those who have the April deadline will probably have a greater chance of getting invites, since they're probably not only reviewing you for April invites, but holding on to your apps in case people withdraw, right?

^ I am thinking it is the other way around. If they already interviewed people they are most interested in, why would they then jump to people they are least interested in? It seems like march 1st peeps are "2nd best" and they will fill up the remaining spots with them, while the "3rd best" group lasting into April just in case people cancel interviews, they can throw them in there.

I hope I am not right

What does everyone else think?

Omg you guys are so funny. I don't think it matters. They probably just can't get to everyone by March 1st, so they randomly split the remaining applicants in half. For all we know they divided us alphabetically.

ha you guys are thinking way too much about it. don't be so analytical about this. just let it be and see what happens.

Well either way is this game over for interviews already?

I think they just changed their status page and started giving more info to applicants.... my interview status said "denied" a week ago... today it changed to "final decision" and at the bottom of the page it says "we are sorry blabh blah you didnt get an interview blah blah"

I called and the lady said they just started doing that... so I don't think the dates on the under review statuses matter, they probably just give the reviewers a deadline to go through the remaining applications more efficiently and thats the date your status says.

good luck!

😳 Haha, that could be it, too! I have a tendency to overanalyze/overthink things, and apps aren't really helping that. If I were on a reality TV show, I'd be that contestant who's always going like "Simon Cowell is wearing a purple shirt today! He never wears purple! What does that meeeaaaan?!"

I hope I didn't induce panic/put anyone down or anything though. Apologies!

teehee i enjoyed your mad detective skills masterwolfie!

and~ it's just nice to know that I'm not the only one left on this planet still waiting to hear back pre-interview from some schools... best of luck everyone :luck:!!!!!!!

My changed to the same thing except that the date for me is April 15th.

My status is also for April 15th but it says "Decision pending" instead of "Under review". I got all excited because I just noticed the "Interview Status" button on the left side that says "Congratulations on being selected for an interview, blah blah blah". Has this button been there all along?

Yeah that button has been there, but can you click on it? When you get an invite I believe it works. When you get an interview, your status on the main site should say "Interview Awarded" I believe.

Nope I can't schedule a date. Thank you for your help.

im also decision pending for 4/15

I've had "decision pending" since I was complete in September, but only now do I have the 4/15 message. I spent a while trying to decode "decision pending" vs. "pending review", but I feel like they're the same...

Are you sure you haven't been invited to interview? I have a button to the left that says, "schedule interview" (when I click on it nothing happens). But I definitely don't have anything that says "congrats on being selected...". Maybe you should call? Or maybe mine's just different for some reason.

Well when I sent an update letter, I got an email confirmation 3 days later to let me know they've added it to my file. Maybe if you don't get a confirmation email soon and you're worried, you could try calling the office or sending it again.

Huh, I sent them an update letter back in December and I never got a confirmation email. Did I use the right address? I used:

UC Irvine Office of Admissions and Outreach
University of California, Irvine
Medical Education, Building 836
Irvine, CA 92697-4089

.If this is wrong, do you guys know the right address to send it to? Thanks.

By the way, my interview status is also "under review" and "
.preliminary review complete, final interview decision due by March 1st." It sucks cuz all my friends got interviews here, and I live 15 minutes from UCI. wtf =/

Mine said "Pending Review" for about 5 months or so but now it reads "Under Review". Scary!

I emailed my update letter to [email protected]. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I also recently emailed them an LOI and again they emailed me back 3 days later confirming they received it.

Maybe I misread my status and everyone else's earlier..but if I remember correctly:

March 1st due dates say "under review"

and April 15th due dates say "decision pending".

If that's the case, it makes sense--01 march is in about 11 days, so they're "under review"...the 15 April kids have about two months to hear back, so we're "not necessarily under review" so a decision is "pending. Maybe that's the logic...how we got into those piles, no freaking clue lol.

Well, as for wording, here is what it says verbatim :

Preliminary review complete, final interview decision due by March 1st

Dunno if this helps.

Yo guys it's great you guys are trying to break this down, which is important, but it seems like you guys are going too indepth? Either way you guys will know soon if you're either going to interviewed or not. gl guys.

Cool, that's not what mine says...so that helps me in terms of knowing what each status actually says. I was confused initiallly and thought they were both worded identically with the only difference being the date, but apparently that's not the case.

Mine says "**Final Interview decision due by April 15th", with two asterisk by interview decision and "Decision Pending" in the box

hey applicants! havent been around much this cycle, but if you have any questions about Irvine feel free to PM me! Or if its something you'd think others would benefit from hearing about too, then just post it here! I'm a 2nd year at UCI 🙂 Hope its been a low stress application cycle for you all!!!!

This thread is so quiet...

Has anyone here interviewed on 1/24? It's almost been a month, so hopefully it won't be too much longer, I'm definitely getting nervous!!!

Just waiting and hoping... :xf:

For anyone itching for updates, I interviewed on Dec 13, was accepted on Jan 23 (phone call) and received the packet on Jan 26.

Best of luck to everyone!

March 1 is so close. For some reason I am doubting though they will get to us (pending interview) by then.

So my interview with UCI is march 8th...

...its so late in the game; anyone know how many spots UCI has given out or will have remaining (estimations of course). I just ask because I heard some schools give the bulk of their acceptances in march- not sure if UCI is the same.

I think it is probably too late in the game... I would just withdraw if I were you/ I mean what are the odds, really?

No, its not. They accept a set % per each interview day. The rest are waitlisted. Doesn't matter if you are in the first or last interview you have the same chance of being accepted.

Something seems wrong about this... but I'll hope its true

My Interview instructions PDF stated that I should expect to be at UC Irvine interviewing until 4pm.

FOr those who have gone already, do they typically finish before this, on time or stay late?

^ some previous posts to answer your question.

It really depends on whether your faculty interview is at the school or at the medical center. I had to take a shuttle to the hospital and we didn't make it back until almost 4:30 pm. Then again, there was a girl who had an earlier flight, and the shuttle dropped her off at john wayne before going back to campus. As for getting to long beach on time...I'm thinking it might not be very feasible. Hope that helps!

Yeah, it really depends on the faculty interview. Mine was on campus so I was done at 3pm, but others still had their interview start at 3pm on campus.

Plan to be there until 4. Like it says. As others have said, you may get out earlier. But they won't know that until the day of when they have your interviewer scheduled. Please don't email them asking for a main campus faculty or to "get out early." That would be very unprofessional.

You've spent thousands on this process already. Are you really going to pinch pennies now?

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😱 :soexcited:  :highfive: :biglove: :wow:  (there are not enough smiley faces to explain my excitement right now!!!)
