Yes, but they told Nov. interviewees that they would hear around the 15th. Lili said something to the effect of: "Traditionally acceptances have gone out around Jan. 15th and we plan to keep with that" when I interviewed. So far my "final decision letter sent" field remains blank.

Yea they told us the same thing. but who knows. A friend of mine who interviewed w/ me on the same day (we both currently go to ucla) said they r not gonna get back to us till later this month. idk where he got that info. oh well good luck to all of us! :xf:

No change in status, no email, no mail...

BTW, that's very , wildlifeiskey. Sums up my weekend accurately.

I called the admissions office and was told that we'd hear back after Febuary 15 because they started late.

Another month to wait, but at least we can breath till the 15th, again.

Thanks Opthope, I love how no one else thought to call the office as we are all nervously sitting on the edge of my seat, checking SDN and our status every 2 minutes.

Hopefully my blood pressure will drop for a week or 2 then. 🙂

Got an interview invite here today, complete 8/27 (MCAT wasn't in until 9/14). I'll be withdrawing my spot. Good luck!

Thanks for doing this dude/dudette. I will now be able to focus on classes and research (at least for a month, that is!)

Anyone going to the pizza dinner tonight? Tomorrow is my first California and MMI interview. It could be a roaring success or a total disaster, but at least I will have pizza in my belly. 🙂

Interview invite at UCLA been complete since 08/16!!! Don't give up hope!

I just got an interview invite today, complete since the end of October. Thought I'd never hear from them now! Time to wonder about the MMI...:xf:

I also just received an interview invite! Completed on 9/13, IS.

Interview invite (IS)....I don't believe it! AH, my #1 school. 😍
I don't know what I did to deserve this (def on the lower end of the MCAT/GPA spectrum), but THANK YOU UCLA. I :biglove: you

Congratulations you guys!!!! man am I envious.

hey kachan, I too am on the low end, but how low we talking here 3.8/33 or 3.4/29? Also when were you complete?

I'm OOS complete late October as well. Pleeeeeasseeeeee let me be in the next batch :xf:. Best of luck to everyone!!

Congrats to all of the OOS kids getting some Bruin love.

I'm still waiting for an OOS secondary invite....at this point in the cycle I think that speaks for itself. Sad. This is one alum who'd love to return to Westwood.

Here's hoping it goes well and I get to stay in California after all...:xf:

I'm IS (even from Southern California) and I haven't heard whether I'm going to get a secondary invite or not.

Do you think it's worth it to call UCLA admissions about this?

Dude...waiting for post-interview decisions is so freaking nerve-wracking. Going from Jan 15th deadline to Feb 15th deadline??!

haha hang in there everyone, it'll be a 3 month wait after interview for...geesh

I want to but I've resisted the urge b/c a) I haven't been screened out yet (that I know of) whereas others have received their pre-interview rejection, and b) UCLA interviews very late into the season as compared to other schools.

Come February, if I haven't heard anything re: secondary, I'll call. I don't want to give them a reason to discard my application if there's a chance I can advance.

I'm trying to respect their process -- though, it's really hard.

I completely agree with you Cster0905. I was planning to call them to ask just what's going on with my application since I've been complete since 9/3, but resisted the urge as well. I just want to know whether they've reviewed my application but decided not to decide upon it, or if they have yet to even read it. I think many applicants would appreciate a greater degree of transparency/communication in their admissions process. This is not an insult to UCLA; just an observation.

Yeah, I feel ya. The application process has been entirely jading and irksome. Not because I'm not getting my way, per se, but rather because we're just left in the dark and I don't understand each school's review process.

On the other hand, I appreciate that 99% of the schools I applied to - much like UCLA - receive an absurd number of applications and they have to sort through them. I suppose it's good news I've not received any news yet.

Michigan, for example, has some pretty cool admission tools for applicants to follow, such as their Twitter feed and the admission tracker. It would be nice to know if a school has looked at your application - even if they haven't reached a decsion yet. I'm all for the 'rip the bandaid off quickly' approach. I'd rather receive a rejection in December than March.

Oh well, not much I can do other than remain patient and hope for some favorable consideration.

Just wondering- what interview dates are available now?

Is it into mid feb?

They keep it mysterious on the interview preference page, asking you to select the day of the week first and then informing you of a choice of open slots through email. Mine went on to early February but I've heard much later from others. They interview like crazy - Monday through Friday - but I'm not sure when they wrap up :luck:

Do we need to send our official transcripts even if we had submitted them to AMCAS? I hadn't taken any classes since 2008...

Also, does anyone know if there's student hosting available? Thanks!

This may seem a bit nit-picky, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should wear to the "Pizza Social" That UCLA invites applicants to?

Obviously I'm not showing up in my interview suit so I can have pizza sauce on it for the interview, But I don't think showing up on my Tony the Tiger t-shirt will be appropriate either.

I really don't think this would have any bearing on admissions decision whatsoever, so I would recommend the vague "whatever you're comfortable with." I'm wearing a tshirt and jeans 🙂

the pizza social is very informal and it's just a way to meet M1 & M2. Wear whatever you're comfortable with and have a good chat with them. 🙂

Can someone with access to the newest US news report post the number of interviewees and accepted at DGSOM?

Thanks

I was actually just wondering about this... It seems like, since they've just started MMI and it feels like they're moving quite a few people through their interview process, numbers from past years might not be relevant to this year. Anyone have thoughts?

That being said, I'd appreciate seeing the interview/accepted numbers as well.

I perused the US News and World report at a bookstore the other day and from what I can recall DGSOM had a ~4% acceptance rate last year (super low!) I'm not sure how many people interviewed, but I think it was around 600? But then again with the MMI they may interview a different number.

Poster above me, how do you know that they are moving more people through the interview process? I'm inclined to believe you, I'm just curious.

Interviewing here next week (Feb 3, who all is with me?) Super stoked but the only problem is that last minute flights cost an arm+leg+first born ($200 round trip for an hour flight? good grief!)

I honestly don't *know* that they're moving more people through. As I said, it's really just a feeling. Not trying to spread unsupported information here, sorry.

The feeling is merely based on the fact that the group on my interview day felt huge (maybe around 30+ people?), and it seems like they have a lot of interview days.

It might still be the same numbers as they started their interview season much later than they usually do...

Interview invite today! Been complete for nearly five months now, so to those who are still waiting, don't lose hope!

I got my interview invite on the 20th at 11pm, The next morning I get a call at 8am telling me they want to put me in for the next morning.

I told them helllllz no! so now my interview is this thursday.

I know its a long-shot, but for those of you who already interviewed- any tips on how I can prepare...
-brush up on ethicals issues?
-find ways to pat myself on the back with every question?
-show some man-cleavage?

Thanks for the insight. I'm in the same boat as well. Complete since August and still waiting for the secondary..

does anyone know of the email address for the admissions office or where to send updates?? all the emails i have received from them say "do not reply to this email"

Received Secondary invite today. I guess it is worth doing if people say that they do interviews late in the season right?

Do you mind sharing your stats? I wonder who still stands a chance (I am in the same boat on the secondary). Thanks!

OOS. Secondary invite today. Laughed when I read my email, considering I had withdrawn my applications elsewhere and thought I was done interviewing/writing secondaries. UCLA was my initial #1 (close to my hometown and parents), guess I'll be putting on the essay-writing cap; this secondary looks to be quite comprehensive.
