Dude...we can't wait till you come! Do you surf at all? A few of my buddies here at the school probably would not mind taking you out to catch a few waves if that's your thing.
 
Since I'm now treading water in the Acceptable Pool, I'm wondering how many others have also been thrown into those muddy waters. Does anyone know? Since they are supposedly making some rejections post-interview, I'm hoping that the size of this pool is not as big as it was last year.

Never got into surfing unfortunately, probably cause I never lived near a beach. But I'd definitely take it up if I got in to UCSD.

I called the admissions office after I was also put in the acceptable pool and they mentioned that they reject about 15% post-interview, so it looks like the pool is a little bit smaller than last year.
 
Does anybody know when the MSTP will be making and releasing decisions?
 
post-interview rejection today 🙁 So so sad. I was super excited to get an invite at UCSD after being on hold forever. Interview invite Feb 1, Interview Feb 10, Reject Feb 15. I probably should have just kept my original interview day in late March. Super quick (in terms of admissions time) rollercoaster ride of toying with my heart.

Acceptable Pool? Does this mean there are no more places in the class?
 
The acceptable pool is basically a large, (supposedly) unranked waitlist. Don't worry, there are still spots available 🙂

I SCUBA dive! I've only dove in the Caribbean and Hawaii. Really looking forward to trying out California!

I don't know of any people who regularly scuba dive out here off the coast; however, several people in my class do have their scuba diving certification.

I have a few concerns.

I have an interview for April 7. Will I be effectively interviewing for a waitlist position since its quite late?

Does MSTP have a totally different app. cylce? do MSTP applicants trickle down to MD program in the case of rejection?

I applied for the MD/PhD in the secondary application, but didn't say anything about it in the primary. I had a change of heart mid app cycle. The interview invite didn't say anything about the MSTP program, so i'm wondering if they just ignored my attempt at applying to it.

I'm definitely down for SCUBA diving, I did it in Hawaii and had a blast. First I'll need an interview though...

I called and asked for an interview a few weeks back but it doesn't look like it worked :/

Next time you're near the admissions office could you tell them that the guy from Hopkins undergrad with a bio major/math minor would like an interview?
 
Anyone else get a message from DoctorOY asking for help putting together interview answers? I appreciate digging for information, but can people at least pretend to do their own research?

I was wondering if I can ask for a huge favor. I eventually got an interview from UCSD. I was wondering if you can kindly give me some hints about the interview and what ever was discussed there.
Also I would really appreciate it if you have any recommendations for me regarding the interview day. And if they have any conspicuous features/programs that I should consider when talking about why I want to go to UCSD.

Aw, got waitlisted 🙁 Interviewed mid-Feb. Anyone know how many people UCSD waitlists, and what the rough # of accepts off waitlist was last year? I might call in and ask too.

I called on Monday and admissions said that the people on hold should hear back by the end of this week as to whether or not they will get an interview. :xf::xf::xf::xf::xf::xf::xf::xf::xf:
 
I hate to be a pessimist, but any time a date like that is mentioned, it is usually for a wave of rejections. Too bad, this was my top choice.

The end of the week would mean by tomorrow. Have people been getting invites/rejects all of this week? Or are all rejects going to get sent out at 2 pm tomorrow?
 
Ya I'm still waiting for an interview as well. Been on hold since November

Still waiting. Why 2pm, is that when all notifications of any sort get emailed out? Goof luck all!
 
Called today and they said another week before decisions are made for those on hold :/
 
did any accepted people get the financial aid app yet? im just making sure I didnt miss an email
 
BTW for WL people, I called last week and the numbers I were quoted were:

~300 waitlisted
~40-90 accepted off waitlist depending on how many they accept up front
 
I know they said between 1-4 weeks for a decision, but did anyone actually get a response in one week? Just curious?

Accepted! Interviewed last Tuesday (3/1). Just got an email from Sonya at the Admissions Office. I'm so excited!!!!
 
Do they only send out the emails around 11am or do they come out all day?
 
Rejected today off the pre-interview hold list. So long California, I'm going out of state. I'll be back.

me too. it stung a little more than all the other rejections since I'm a UCSD alumni. But I'm sick of this school anyways so peace out!

UCSD is my alma mater as well. Definitely stung a bit, but on to the next adventure! Nice avatar by the way! I'm going to miss Black's.
