Seriously UIC? I'm still decision pending, getting discouraged 🙁 I interviewed way back at the end of November too. I guess here's to hoping 5th time's the charm like some of you guys! :xf::xf:

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has recieved an interview invite to the ubran med prorgam recently? I believe they interview during 2nd look day, which is April 22nd. Just checking, thanks!

The last interview day is indeed April 5 (which is when I'm interviewing). There's also interviews in Rockford on the 31st, cuz when they called to invite me I had a choice between the two. And unlike all of you, I'm hoping they don't meet again before the 5th so I have a better chance! (which I don't think will happen because it seems like they meet monthly?)

I'll try to weasel some info during the interview and post accordingly.

:xf:!!!

So I actually have an interview in Chicago April 18th. I was also offered 3/31 and 4/5.

still no change...sucks!😡 But I am happy for everyone else! Congrats!🙂

hello. among those who had their status changed to final decisions have been made with additional correspondence, can you tell me when and if you have received the cbc email? thanks a lot guys and good luck to those who are still waiting?

Do we want to start guessing when the next meeting will be?! April 21st?

interesting...yeah, i got the actual letter today and it says to answer the interview invite by April 21, 2011 or they will assume I'm not interested, so I guess I was wrong. good luck!

I have not received the cbc email yet, but then my status change was just yesterday.... 😉

With that being said I assume April 21, 2011 will be the next adcom meeting. This is consistent with the third Thursday of the month schedule they have followed in the past.

I sent my application in like 2 days before the deadline and haven't heard anything yet. :xf:

Haha that is exactly what I did. But I also just had a status change + additional corr. tab this past monday so I am hoping its an acceptance and that a urban med call will follow. I guess I need to be patient!

Did anyone receive an email saying their application was reviewed this month? Does that email come monthly?

Still waiting on a UMed invite 🙁

Anyone else received an interview invite for this program? Or are you still waiting like me? :xf:

got an email regarding financial aid processing requirements. If it has my UIN number on it, is it safe to assume I was accepted?... I have a hard time believing that I got in until i see a letter of acceptance...

anyone else on the same page as i am?

Hi IrishCalini, I have received an interview invite with the Umed program about a month ago. The interviews take place on second look day....hope you will receive an invite soon!!

So this is probably a ******ed question this late in the game, but how do you check your application status? I keep seeing people talk about checking their status and I have no idea how to do it. On the UIC website, it said to check AAMC, but all that has is my AMCAS status (not individual schools). Thanks.

I'm still waiting for a UMed interview invite too, I'm really hoping to get one!

On the subject of second look day though, does anyone know if parents usually come? I have many friends at other schools with varying reports on their school's second look days and I want to know if I should invite my parents or not. It doesn't say on the Save the Date.

Does anyone know if we have to take the behavioral courses for a letter grade or pass/fail? thanks!

anyone receive their letter of acceptance in the mail yet?

Does anyone know how UIC accepts people of this "hold" list after the May 15th deadline? Do they just automatically start accepting people based on when you interviewed or is there some other system that they have?

Thanks!

Yes. Mine arrived in the mail today (all the way to California) so I would anticipate that those people with decisions made this past week should be seeing their letters in the mail soon if not today.

To everyone else still waiting, don't give up hope! :luck:

Got Chicago placement yesterday, but considering I withdrew this week, hope it goes to someone who had been hoping for Chicago. Maybe you guys should call if this is where you really wanted to be. Good luck

As I understand it from past years, there are a number of acceptances in April from this "decision pending" group. I'm hoping to be one of them! 🙂

As for those decision pending beyond this month, I think either a waitlist or rejection is in store. Once on the waitlist, I'm not sure if you know where you sit on it... Hope that helps!

This makes me wonder how they determine placement then, because I got placed in Urbana mid March . . . I thought it was first come first serve. My first choice was Chicago.

A number of acceptances as in just a handful or a fair amount? I've been decision pending since December and I really hope I get some good news this month! Hope you do too! :xf::xf:

Are you doing the MD/PhD program? If so, I think (but not 100% positive) that all MD/PhDs are placed in Urbana.

This is similar to how I understand it as well. I think I remember on last years' thread that they told them approximately where they were on the waitlist. I am also under the impression that UIC's waitlist movement is fairly good. Basically, we are totally not out of the running yet!:xf::luck::xf:

Actually, I am not currently in the MD/PhD program (already have my PhD). But you can also do an MD/PhD from Chicago if you wish. What is true, is if you wish to stay at Urbana all four years, you probably need to be in the MD/ PhD program. Otherwise your clinical years are in Rockford or Peoria.

But, back to the original topic. Does anyone know how they allocate people to the different campuses? When I interviewed Feb 14, the dean said that the Chicago campus was almost full, hence I wasn't surprised that I could not get Chicago. On the other hand, it seems at least one person got Chicago as recently as last Friday.

Well, some people that originally got Chicago (I.e. Me w/ an interview in early January) ended up withdrawing our acceptance (I.e. Me a few weeks ago). So they might have given my placement to someone who had recently been accepted instead of backtracking to someone who already had a placement? Just a theory.

I'm a current student and I can tell you that site placement being first come first serve is a lie that they seem to tell all students. There are students in my class that were accepted in March/April that got Chicago, while students accepted in November that did not. Its been a mystery and I have never fully figured out how they do it. They also seem to grant appeals in a mysterious way as well.

Also, to confirm, there are several M.D./Ph.D. students in our class here in Chicago.

From past threads, it seems like a number of people who have been decision pending for 3+ meetings received a final decision. This is based on good old snooping though, so no hard facts. I've seen you on this thread for a while so I'm pulling for you as well!

Well my second theory is that since Chicago is by far the most popular campus, they probably measure it out to attract students. It's not a surprise that many people they initially give Chicago to go elsewhere, since these students probably have multiple acceptances. Guess its part of the game we all play.

Accepted !!!!!! 🙂

Interviewing for the Urban Med Prog
OOS

Good luck to everyone else!

Just withdrew tonight from Chicago's campus. Hope it goes out to one of you guys!

Thanks for clearing that up.

Hey, everyone who is attending second look day in Chicago, are you planning on bringing your parents? Or students who attended in the past, did a lot of students bring their parents? I'm getting mixed answers from friends at different schools. I want to invite them, but I don't want to miss the opportunity to meet classmates if no one else has parents with them. Let me know what you think, can't wait to meet people! 😀

Everyone waiting to hear back... Good Luck!

Is second look day something you have to register for? Or can you just show up?

I'm bringing the two women in my life (ha), my mom and girlfriend. I agree with you that it will be awesome to meet some possible future classmates. However, the second look day at UIC seems more "presentation oriented" or a day to check out the school and hear more details about it. It doesn't necessarily seem like the best opportunity to really get to know your future classmates (I could be wrong). I would assume that a lot of people are still choosing between schools and that the real class bonding stuff (aka getting weird at the bars or stuff that would be much more informal) will occur sometime this summer. So, no I don't think you will be hindered by bringing your parents. Either that, or you and I will both be the odd people that brought family haha.

You are suppose to register/say you are coming by April 15th.

And BOOOOO I just got rejected from the Umed program. I didn't have time to write all the short answers so I was really hoping for an interview.

They should have a committee meeting before second look so that us "decision pending" people have the possibility of coming 🙂

Not quite sure what you mean by behavioral courses (human development? clinicals?) but everything your first 2 years is pass/fail/honors.
