This thread was all the way in the 3rd page! Unacceptable! 😡

I'm excited about potentially hearing back sometime during the next 1-1.5 weeks! The interview day at UIC was pretty awesome and the students who gave the campus tour were really fun to talk to. The anatomy lab was pretty cool to see. It was the first time I ever stepped foot in an anatomy lab, so it was pretty cool to see the set-up and all the CT/MRI images lining the wall, etc! 🙂

Edit: TOP!

Edit 2: Sorry if I got someone's heart racing about potential status changes! Not my intention!

Here, Here Kaushik. Looks like this will be the big week (hopefully!)

Kaushik, where did you interview?

Hey folks,
I just interviewed at the Urbana campus (10/22) and it was intense! I have been to 5 med school interviews so far and this was by far the toughest. It was a 5 person panel interview, non-conversational and very confrontational. They kept throwing difficult scenarios at me and did not seem real interested in me as a person. I don't know what its like at the Chicago campus but I was very turned off by the format of the interview.
I'm still hoping to get in because I would assume that the Chicago campus is very different. My status says "evaluation not complete" which i'm guessing means the panel did not submit its evaluation yet.
Does anyone know if because of the panel format the decision is made sooner or does it not matter?
Anyway, good luck to everybody else, I hope you do better on your interview than I did on mine!

When are you supposed to hear back by, as far as evaluations.

I am a 10/4 interviewee and have been feverishly checking status since Thursday. Anyone here noticed a status change?

Seems unprecedented for no changes to occur this far after a Thursday AdCom meeting, given my understanding of what occurred in previous cycles.

I wouldn't assume that the meeting has already occurred. I was told it'd happen "at the end of the month", so I personally think it hasn't occurred yet.

Hey guys,

Anyone know what the UIC Med school interviews are like at Peoria?? I have one there coming up and I just want to know what I'm going to be up against.

Also, anyone know what the acceptance rates are after you are invited for an intervieww?

Thanks!

Hey all,

I received an interview offer from UIC - scheduled for Dec. 8th in Rockford. Does anyone have insight into the format of the interview as well as the type of questions asked?

I am also curious about the acceptance rate for those offered an interview.

UIC you are taking too long! Now Rush is trying to win over my attention. ahhh.

But seriously, super psyched about them potentially meeting tomorrow.

Agreed! Hypothetically, if I get into UIC, it's going to be a fight between a state-run school (OOS here though) and a private university...and I think it's funny that UIC ends up being WAY more than the private school lol.

That being said, I still hope I get in! 🙂

So....if they're potentially meeting today...then we might be finding out tomorrow or Monday if we were accepted?? 😱

My status just changed to "A final decision was made on your application on 10-28-10. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone." I also have a new column in the "Interview Scheduling" table that says "Additional Correspondence." Not sure if this is good or bad news?!

Awesome! From past thread, it usually means acceptance! 👍

Sounds like it's going to be good news. Congratulations in advance. When did you interview?

Thanks! I interviewed in the middle of September at the Chicago campus. Fingers crossed that the pattern is the same this year... good luck to everyone here! 👍

Mine says the same thing, too! I hope it really means an acceptance. If anyone is curious, I'm OOS and interviewed on 10/13 at Rockford.

I'm interviewing at the Chicago campus at the end of November. How was the interview day and what were your impressions of the school/campus? Any suggestions on how to prepare? Also, is there validated parking?

Interviewed 10/1 @ Peoria and the "decision has been made" update!

On my page, it says
A final decision was made on your application on 10-28-10. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

In the table above on the status check page, it shows Interview Letter Date, Interview Date, Confirm Date, and has an additional correspondence grid with nothing next to it. What do you guys think that means? I'm an OOS applicant...from the Chicago campus.

*hoping for good news* In prior years, people said an "additional correspondence TAB" shows up?...is a tab different from another grid? Haha..paranoia is setting in. 🙁

Goood luck to everyone!

nothing yet...interview 10/6 but not at the chicago campus so maybe that's why it's taking longer? 🙁

now its waiting for the mail time..... cmoooon USPS

I got the final decision made message with the additional correspondence tab. W00t. This is hopeful news!

I also have the 'decision made' status. I'm OSS and interviewed on 10/14 in Chicago. Lets hope for the best! :luck:

Interviewed 10/22 and got a decision today with the additional correspondence tab ...................😱

Hey guys,

Just wanted to make sure, but when you guys say tab, you are referring to the grid that is on top? Mine has a grid with the interview date information and additional correspondence grid with nothing to its right...

Thanks! and yes I'm paranoid about UIC lol. *sigh...time to wait a week for the mail to come*

Mine looks like that.

Mine looks like that.

Awesome! Thanks for your rapid response! Hopefully it means good news for everyone here!

If only they'd email us or write something more than just "A decision has been made on your file..wait for the mail." lol.

Yeah no problem haha. I'm sure it'll mean good news soon :xf:

Hi everyone,

I interviewed two days ago and my status still says "Interview Scheduled for 10-26-10 - Evaluation not Complete"

Is this normal?

Hi guys,

Quick question .. I submitted my secondary here end of July, and so I'm assuming was complete some time in early August .. I haven't checked religiously, but my status has consistently been "Application in Process." I have fairly decent stats, activities and everything and thought I wrote pretty strong essays. Any chance my application's just been forgotten about? Or are there others who have also been waiting foreverrrrrr? I'm just getting antsy waiting

Does the school does silent rejections, or do I just keep getting passed up or something? Does the school accept letters of interest? As a Evanston-born CA transplant, I'd so love to go to school heree .. thanks for the help!

Since you said you haven't been checking that consistently, it's possible that you might have been "applicant in progress" for a little bit and went back to "application," which means a pre-interview hold (from the comprehensive list someone summarized).

Don't lose hope though, anything is possible. Maybe you'll hear good news anytime now, but most of us spend some time in "applicant in progress" before getting an interview.

Yeah it's normal. Since you just interviewed they probably haven't collected the evaluations from your interviewers. I became "Decision Pending" the week after my interview.

Thanks man .. I usually tried to check every few days (if not more often) but I definitely know there were periods where I didn't ..

Has anyone else been Application is Process for a few months now? I'm debating calling them to see if they can give me any more information about my status

*sigh* same here....what does this mean?...did they just not get to us today or is this a sign of bad news....ugh...
I'm not sure at this point. Very disappointed though since I really thought I had a great interview day and this is one of my top choice schools! I think it's likely we'll be reviewed again at the next adcom meeting a month from now (assuming we don't get rejected outright, of course).

Btw, congrats to everyone who has received the "final decision made" status update (which likely means good news)! I'm happy for you guys and I hope to eventually join you! 🙂

i wouldnt be too discouraged. They give out decisions monthly and I have heard of tons of students who got in after a hold.

Good luck.

Plus, for all we know "decision has been made on 10-28" could be a rejection:scared:

For those who have been interviewed, how long was your status "application is in process" before it switched to "applicant in process" and the interview invite status?

I know. It's just heartbreaking to walk out of the interviews feeling like they went really well and not hear back good news. It seems like every person on here who interviewed on my day got the status update except me. I realize I'm being pretty irrational right now, but it's just a really sucky feeling...😳

Will continue to keep my fingers crossed/hopes up though!

This school is a very difficult school to get into. My friend applied with a 3.7 cumulative GPA and a 3.8 science GPA and a 35Q (12 PS, 11 V, 12 BS) and was rejected for "not being diverse enough." He is a white male and it was a shame he did not get accepted because he was certainly qualified. Oh and he went to UIC as an undergrad, lived near Chicago he entire life, and spoke 3 languages one of them being Polish (Chicago has one of the largest Polish communities in the United States).

Hi,

I am interested in UMED, and would like to apply to UIC in the next cycle. Does anyone have insights about gpas/mcats/extracurriculars accepted students typically have?

Here are my stats:
3.2cGPA (2.8 sGPA)
33MCAT
URM (African American/woman)
plenty of extracurriculars...I think:laugh:
Physician shadowed/Volunteered in hospital (substantial lengths of time)
**full-time volunteer @ in Chicago last yr--relates to community development work**

What do you think of my chances? Or what should I do to improve the likelihood of acceptance?

For all who have received the "final decision made" message:

Has anyone received the CBC email?

For all who have received the "final decision made" message:

Has anyone received the CBC email?

I was going to ask this...along with whether anyone has received the package in the mail yet?

I haven't received the CBC email, but for what it's worth, I've been accepted to another school already (except they haven't received my paperwork yet so I don't know how far along they are in terms of running the CBC).
