Good luckk! I interviewed yday and it was very laid back, stress free!

I have a question- is our entire application reviewed by the adcom when they meet, like our gpa, MCAT, ec, essays and what not? And ooh, how is our interview looked at? my interviewers did not take notes or anything and right after me there was another interviewee, so just curious... thanks.

my status changed from "applicant in process" to "Application is in Process" .........anybody know what this means? is it bad news? if I was rejected would it show up on my status or would I only hear in the snail mail letter?

so do most of the in-state seats get filled by now? will most interviews now be given to OOS ?

I suspect based on my research into SDN threads and stuff even from last year that it may mean rejection.

But wow I'm still applicant in process. Been since roughly october. Wondering what this means.

Applicant in process since end of August.

Blarg.

mybubbles, or any other UIC med student, I remember reading somewhere that there's a tuition reduction if you're conducting more than 10 hrs of research per week. Do you happen to know about this and how significant the reduction is? I'm pretty interested in an academic career and plan on being involved in research throughout the preclinical years, so it'd be great to get an estimate on how much tuition money I could save on! 😉

Please somebody confirm this, because if so UIC just became more attractive....😍
I called up UIC today to ask an adviser (or whatever they're called) about this question. He apparently has never heard of it and wants me to call back if I find more info on it. So, it looks like whatever I read is most likely wrong. I apologize if I got anyone else excited about it. 😳

Interview invite today! Does anyone know how to schedule the interview? I try clicking the dates, but nothing happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

finally an interview invite today. been complete since 7/29, "applicant in process" for just under 4 weeks. there were interview dates up until the end of march, and most of them have been filled, in case anyone is curious.

you have to call them to schedule your interview.

by the way, just out of curiosity, i calculated how much tuition and fees would be for 1 year at UIC for an in state person like myself. its $35,770 for two semesters, and im not sure if they add anything on for the summers we are in school as well. how do they get away with this?? my tuition at UWisc as a non-resident will be less than that. WTH???

Interview invite as well. I have to call them on monday though becuse I haven't heard from either the chicago or Urbana MD/PhD program so I need to see if they're going to interview me as well. There are 64 slots listed as available at the moment though I"m not sure how acurate the chart is. Good luck everyone else!

Interview day was very relaxed and conversational. All three interviewers were friendly and jovial. Makes me want to get that acceptance even more. Great school. Hope I get in!

Does anyone know if the admissions committee is meeting this week?

hey everyone! just interviewed here this past friday. LOVED IT! do we get any kind of acceptance email/phone call or do we have to wait for the snail mail?

also, does the campus request form come with our letter of intent?

thanks! definitely hopeful!:xf:

From looking back amongst the previous posts on here, looks like if you get an additional correspondance tab after it says final decision made on the applicant status page, that means your in. It also seems likely that the committee is meeting this Thursday, as it is the 3rd Thursday of the month. This is an educated guess though.

One of the nice women who work in the office said we should know by the end of the month. :xf::xf::xf::xf::xf::xf::xf:

You'll have to wait for the snail mail package (which includes a campus request card--there are four different things you'll need to mail back to them from this package) for the final decision; however, on the status check website, there is an "additional correspondence" grid that appears in the upper right hand corner of the status page. That so far has shown up only for admitted applicants.

PS: I wouldn't use the phrase "letter of intent" in this context.

Good luck!

Complete since 8/21.

Applicant in process.

Mine just changed as well. that kinda sucks, I was really hoping to go to UIC.

Are all the invites snail mail as well?
The status on the website changes to show the interview grid. I think I got a snail mail as well, but it was a week or two after my status changed online and I had already scheduled an interview. Never got an email about the status change though. I randomly logged on one day and saw the interview grid and called the school up to schedule one.

I think I saw you walking through E-stone on Friday...you were wearing a black suit? 🙂

Feel free to stop and ask us questions if we're just hanging out in the basement. People not wearing white coats (and a few with) are usually your friendly neighborhood M1 or M2's. Good luck!

Finally got those CBCs out! Not that its very exciting but one more step done to getting myself to school

Does anyone know when the next batch of interviewed candidates will hear? Is notification only via snail mail for this? I recently changed my address and can't figure out how to change it on UIC's website... thanks!!

I second this motion! 👍

Definitely take advantage of the tour, your tour guides and any other students you may run into...especially those that float around during the lunch. 😛

Yup! The admissions committee meets tomorrow. Interviewed in December - hoping for some good "final decision" news! :xf:

Has anyone gotten an interview invite after having the "Application is in Process" (not application in process)?

I've been complete since mid-August.

so i just called admissions today cause i had a question and then i also asked if the admissions committee was meeting today.. and the guy said no that they will most likely meet next week. i hope he's wrong cause the wait is killing me :scared:

I was complete 9/17, and didn't get an interview invite until 1/5 (interviewed on 1/14). So, a little over 3 months for me.

Let's hope not! Given the history on this year's thread as well as last years, it's highly likely they are meeting today.

You mean after being application in progress not applicant in process?

Cuz u wrote it wrong above.

That being said, does anyone know if UIC takes letters of update/interest???

I've been applicant in process for ages now. Since october. Do you think if I call them they could provide more insight?? I don't get it because on the one hand I've not been rejected yet but on the other I've not gotten an invite yet for interview. The people on here who interviewed all seem to be saying they got their invites in 2 weeks. The friends of mine who were rejected were rejected within 3 months. I suppose i was complete later then them ie. mid october. But still.

Any advice from those on this thread?

I would think it is a safe bet to say that people have gotten their interview invites more than two weeks after the change. That was not the case for me, but I think i've seen on this thread that that happens. They probably have been looking at your application and just have not made a decision. Plus, other people have been rejected, so apparently, if they had strong feelings against you, you likely would have heard it by now.

Realistically, the chances of an interview are narrowing because we are approaching the later months, but it is most certainly not over because last years thread had many people that got interviews and acceptances months later.

And lastly, I do not see how writing a letter of update can hurt. It shows you are working to improve your candidacy and shows a sincere interest in attending their school, which obviously is important. At worst, they disregard it, so I would advise the letter.

Keep up hope until the bitter end, but if you have not had any interviews or just a few, take an honest look at your application now and get involved with organizations or jobs that can help you eradicate weaknesses so you can build up experiences before the next app cycle (same goes for if you need to look into an SMP or MCAT re-take).

I just called too, to doublecheck ( my wife always gets mad at me for doublechecking everything), anyway, I spoke with a woman and she said the committee never tells them when they meet.

Woo Hoo... more uncertainty! My bet is they are meeting today though. Good Luck!!:luck::luck::luck:

Could you tell me how to look at last years threads? I searched but I must be missing something.
Thanks.

Don't we all just love the contradicting answers we're given by admissions? lol
I really do hope they meet today though :xf::xf::xf:

UIC does accept update letters. I emailed and asked, they said to email them to [email protected]. I never received a confirmation that it was received, but when I called to inquire about my status (and asked about the update letter), the lady told me they just print them out and add them to your file, they don't send you confirmation.

You mean after being application in progress not applicant in process?

Cuz u wrote it wrong above.

No, my status was "Application in Process" after I was complete and now has been "Application is in Process" for a while.

HOLY ********!!! I have an interview scheduling chart!!! THEY RECONSIDERED ME! Anyway, is interviewing in March too late to be considered? Is that crazy to worry about? Or I could go in February but it's in Chicago and that would be a logistical nightmare compared to another location where I literally work. OMG. Is this real?

EDIT: Ok I'm scheduled for March 10th in Peoria. OMG. I just randomly rechecked my status and there was this big colorful chart up for interviews. If anyone is wondering, I am in state and I got rejected in December but then sort of "appealed" because I had planned on sending a significant update/interest letter. This school means a lot to me and they must have actually seen that. 😀

CONGRATULATIONS! 🙂 Good luck!

huh so what's the difference between application in process vs. applicaant in process.

I'm confused. 😕😕

Via information earlier in the thread, it says "application in process" right when you are complete. When your file goes under review it says "applicant in process". If you go from "applicant" back to "application", apparently you are likely up for re-review, which is the position I've landed in.

For those of you who are post-interview, any status changes?? I just checked mine, and it is still Decision Pending..

Same. Decision Pending since yesterday. I've checked about 20 times in the past 3 hours. Come on BABY!!!!!

me 3. i guess the adcom did not meet today.. because if they did, we should of seen a status change around 12pm-ish based on the posts from previous months..
here's to another week of anxiously waiting.. AHHHH :xf::xf::xf:

But what about "Application is in Process"?? lol I feel like they do this just to mess with us hahaha.

You know I had just called the lady today and she was like there's no difference between the two, so I wonder why they make a distinction on the status page using different words.

Yeah, when I talked with the lady from admissions, she also said that "Application in process" and "Applicant in process" mean the same thing, that you're complete. But why did mine change from "Application in Process" to Application is in Process"? I never had "Applicant in Process."

ha overall I think UIC has forgotten about me. I turned in my secondary around September and I"m OOS. I haven't heard a peep from them and at this point I don't expect them to.

No change here, either...I sure hope it's not another week...:scared:

Any changes for anyone? Do we know if it's normal to go to decision pending before the committee even meets?

So I went into Application in process today just now from applicant in process that I was yesterday.

So we shall see what that means. I think it means they are done reviewing my app. I am wondering if it is still worth it to send an update to them at thisp oint or if they're mailing something to me soon. All my friends got their rejection like 3 months from being complete. its been 3 months now. So yeah. Not sure that's a good sign.

I just love how they are making subtle changes to our statuses and driving us all crazy!! I wish they would just post whatever it actually means (i.e. "on hold" or "no chance in hell").

Well I never got "Applicant in Process," so what does that mean? hahaha
