just got an interview offer today! (non-automatic) my secondary was submitted a few days ago...

My status changed to on hold 🙁

Well, it says "review complete" and that they can't offer me an interview at this time. Somebody from last year's forum said this just means that they reviewed your file and have not started sending out non-automatic interviews (which looks to be the case from this thread).

But to me it sounds like a slow rejection hold. Anybody know what this means? Does this mean I still have an equal shot when they do start sending out interviews?

You still have an equal shot. I was on hold for several months then got an interview, got in and got a scholarship. Don't give up hope....it just might take some time 🙂 Be patient (tough to do in this process but absolutely necessary)!

They sent me an email w/ subject "Michigan medical school status update." i almost didn't open it cuz they send out so many status update emails w/ the same subject heading, but when i opened it, it was an interview invite. so make sure u open all your emails

For any of you who have uploaded a photo but have not submitted the secondary, when you click "Upload Photo" does it show your photo, but still give you a choice of clicking Yes or No when asking if you "agree to these terms"?

It seems strange that after I submitted the photo it still asks me if I agree to the terms. Did this happen to any of you?

To the best of my knowledge (but check your MSAR), Michigan accepted 350 out of 700 interviewees last year.

I don't know about previous years...but for this cycle:

"This year: We plan to receive over 5,300 applications, do about 750 interviews and make 350 admission offers. (Subject to change)

We are building a class for 2011 that will have 170 students. Approximately 45% will be Michigan residents."

Same thing for me. I read through the 09-10 thread, and it's unfortunately not a good sign. Very few people were offered an interview after that status based on the thread, and those that were had their status change in August. The majority were that same status until they stopped offering interviews, so who knows. People speculated update letters help, if you have anything additional you'll be doing over the next few months.

If you look at the admissions process they sent with their first email, it doesn't mean you're file is closed and you definitely won't be interviewed, though.

For your convenience, this is what it says:

"If your file and letters have been reviewed and you have not been invited to an interview, this means that the preliminary screening of your file is complete and no further action will be taken at this time. We will send you a letter in the mail as well as update your web page to confirm your status."

My status still shows that I'm complete and under review. I've been complete though since July 8th, though I actually applied like around ~June 28th or so. When were you all complete, if you don't mind me asking?

I was complete there around 7-8 or 7-9 no later than that. 😳

There's a post on twitter way back when saying you'll be reviewed again (and again) until Feb. so if it's your number one choice, don't completely give up hope.

No, if you are still in review that means that you still have a chance for an interview.

Im under review, but I have mcat scores coming out on the 17th, and they said those scores will be taken into consideration. Ill probably be "under review" for a while then, but thats fine with me, as long as im not rejected.

Thanks addo! I appreciate it🙂 I dug through last years thread and finally saw a bunch of people who were "under review" with no other updates until late Sept/early Oct when they then received interviews. It is nice to have hope! I also like the twitter thing....I wish other schools would do it.

I'm still "under review" so I appreciate you sending out the results of your homework on MI last year. I've been researching other threads and haven't gotten to MI yet. It's interesting to review old threads, but so time comsuming too. Best of luck to you.

I don't know for sure, but from last year's thread, it looked like a lot of people were put on hold for a long time. Somewhere in November or December Michigan tweeted that they begin closing down some applications (something like that, they a big into tweeting). Even tho they say March, I think it is more like December. No word for me, I'm under review and have been so for weeks.

Yeah I got it too. My GPA is 3.6 so not much different than yours. They simply liked my MCAT score. I have considered applying to Michigan, maybe I will. But probably not.

I like Michigan, but I have the feeling that they're asking for my $$$, not my app. My stats are good, not killer, so they can't be that impressed with me.

I have a 3.93/34 and average to decent extra-curricular stuff and I was quickly screened and not offered an interview at this time (basically in limbo for awhile now I guess). I don't have research which I assume is a big gap for them, so who knows if this helps you any.

I got it too and decided to apply! I don't have great stats (3.7, 33Q, OOS), but I was really encouraged by the percentage of OOS they take! Here's hopin!

Yeah, I was actually looking for one to replace UNM, which showed me no love despite WICHE...i'm starting to think WICHE's kind of a load of crap, but I guess we'll see.
