So, the end to this story goes like this:
Jul 30: Status pg (no email) changes to:

Application Screening Completed
Your application has been reviewed. At this point we are not able to offer you an interview. Additional reviews may take several months as we compare groups of applicants. Thank you for your patience.

Same story as Chicago, 2 days ago. I'm starting to freak the **** out. There's a giant knot in my throat.

You'll get the email, it seems to be an overnight delay thing. It's just that we check them so often we catch the change before the email goes out. It doesn't mean it's over, so I'd like to think we still have a chance.
 
I feel like I'm probably on hold here... they've made almost 1/3 of their planned interview offers and I think I submitted that secondary pretty quickly (like the day after I got it), so they must have looked at my file by now... right? (status still says under review tho) Definitely one of my very faves going in, too!

Yea, I submitted like the day it came out as well, and I am still under review. I have an mcat score coming out on the 17th though, so I think they may be waiting for my new score to be taken into consideration.

Have they actually made the last ~60 offers, or have they merely "allocated" them? Because they haven't updated the ticker, and no one has commented on here about receiving an interview, I think they are just slated. You may be in the next round!!!🙂 I think you're perfect for this school; don't take any delay to heart.

I'm still "Under Review".......I guess that is better than the alternative??? This school is high on my list, but I may not be high on theirs. We shall see 🙂
 
phew my secondary invite was in my spam! good thing I've just been going to the admissions website...put in my application kind of late (as in a couple of days ago) so I'm glad they're fast about getting secondaries out since they're filling interview spots so fast!
 
BTW are they screening at all for the secondary? It doesn't seem like it

Also, can anyone chime in if they wrote about something not academic for their passion? For instance, reading or being in a band or gardening or SOMETHING not research/academic.

Anyone?

dang i talked about teaching. because i do enjoy it but also because i had an awesome experience in africa that i didn't get to talk about in my primary that i managed to tie in here.

I don't think it's something to worry so much about. As long as you wrote about something that you love and that makes you YOU, then I'd say you did what they asked you to do. 🙂

Man, checking this forum every couple of days is dramatic. I feel for you guys, hopefully my experience in a couple of years can be smooth.

Scuba diving (taught it for three years). I think that what you write about matters less than how you write about it. If your passion is clear and comes through in your writing, then that topic is a better choice than something vaguely academic for the sake of trying to impress the adcoms.

I agree with thebillsfan and think that writing about an academic topic could very well backfire or come off as fake.

I wrote about a hobby I do just for fun (no other incentive), but I didn't want the adcom to think I was ridiculous. But now I feel encouraged!

interview offer! got selection from end of Oct - early Nov. Didn't get an email but checked the status page. So excited! Maybe it was my awesome essay I wrote...

Rejected. Same message as above. For those curious about stats, OOS 3.9 GPA, 34 MCAT. Pretty expected rejection, though I would have loved to go there. Good luck to everyone else applying and those who received an interview.

Wear your best maize and blue! Or at least avoid scarlet, gray, and that hunter green Mich State favors.
 
do secondaries matter less if you received an automatic invite?
 
I was rejected/review complete/whatever they call it, here are my stats for anyone curious

OOS, 3.6ish/37

Didn't really expect to get interviewed, but obviously was hoping for the best

Wow, 😱 then I really don't have a prayer, wasn't expecting it though. I submitted early, but am still under review :scared:

To be fair, I didn't have any ridicously cool ECs or anything to make up for my low-ish GPA. I'm sure people with much lower numbers than me get interviewed

Research, based on a recent post by them, seems important because 92% of their class this year had research.

Not saying you didn't, just thinking of possible reasons 😛.

Yeah, at the time of application I only had this summer's research internship listed as a future thing. But I just gave my final presentation today, so maybe I can send a little update and copy of my abstract to try and pull myself out of the "essentially rejected" category
 
If anyone's looking for a rhyme or reason, you're not gunna find it. I posted earlier that I had the same thing - Review complete/no interview, and I had 2 years worth of research + publication soon to be submitted. 36/3.9. OOS. Who knows.

Jeez, I'm shocked that you got no love from Michigan, but you did from the U of Rochester!!! Nice day afterall, eh?? Congrats! :clap:
 
I've been "file complete - under review" since the beginning of July. I guess no news is good news? Or at least, it's not bad news.

Ha, you noticed. I had a terrible weekend b/c of Michigan. Wept to my mom, telling her she could come visit me in the Caribb...all very logical stuff

Hey Guys, is it unusual to wait over a week for a secondary invite? My AMCAS was verified last Monday and I haven't heard a peep from Einstein or Michigan... everyone else has contacted me. Do I need to call them? I'm starting to get concerned 🙁

I imagine you'll hear something by Friday. Their twitter said they are planning substantial file review this week and plan to send a lot of interview invites Friday.
 
For picking a student host, should you email them or something before picking them?
