what a shame. i even put 'Jeremy Lin Fan' as one of my ECs. highly disappointed that this strategy did not pan out.

I don't know about second look weekend, but I'm sure that will only be announced once acceptances are offered. Acceptances won't be offered until late March though, according to the admissions office.
For any current students:
At the interview day a first year told me that if your combined family income is less than 120,000/year, HMS would consider your family contribution to be zero. Can anyone confirm this? Also: I know that HMS has a base loan that everyone is required to have as part of their finaid package ... after the base loan is subtracted from COA, is the rest considered need if the EFC is zero (and does HMS give need in the form of scholarship or a combination of scholarship and loan)?

Best thing is this extends to international students, too! Trying not to get my hopes up here, though...
It is a great deal. 👍 But it's actually not so different than other medical schools with great need-based financial aid (Hopkins/Yale/Penn come to mind, I'm sure there are others). I imagine most of these schools have some sort of cutoff point where if your family's income is below X, you won't have to pay a family contribution in addition to whatever fixed amount you're paying/loaning yourself (the "unit loan", about $25-26k? Can't remember exact number..)
Still, it's really affordable, and to my knowledge Harvard is the only one that advertises their cutoff point on their website. Yale might have mentioned theirs on the interview day, but I can't remember the number.

Yeah - I guess the challenge is finding that cut-off ... I talked to students on my Hopkins interview who gave numbers WAY less (but I haven't found any evidence on-line to support it) ... for example, instead of 120 they said it was 75 for Hopkins. Penn didn't mention a cut-off, but I have heard they are very generous with their finaid ... especially with the new Perelman donation. I guess we will see how things play out ... haha we have to get accepted first!
The Perelman donation was this year. You have no idea how much it will boost financial aid for the average student because new financial aid awards have not yet been made.
The financial aid at HMS is significantly different from Hopkins insofar as Hopkins offers no aid to internationals while HMS/Yale/Penn do.

The week of March 12 could be considered the 3rd week in March.....just sayin decisions might not be as far away as some think. But then again I'm an optimist.
For those of us waiting for this school, it is almost certain that we've at least gotten into one medical school at this point. Let's remember those who were not as fortunate as we are, some not even given the chance to interview, and be grateful for our situation. Regardless of what happens in the next two weeks, we WILL become physicians one day and save lives!

I know it says "by the third week of March" on the website, but we were told "first week of March" at my interview day. Can anyone else confirm this?

I was hit with a rejection around the second week of March last year.
Was that pre- or post-interview?
A student at HMS told me that she had heard it would be April 19-21, FWIW. Can't guarantee that but it might be helpful info.

So according to SDN's forum from last year, it looks like acceptance emails were sent between 7 and 8pm on the first Thursday in March. Waitlist emails came out around noon the following day, and rejection emails were sent around 5pm. If that pattern repeats itself this year (do we really have any reason to think it will?) that means we should all hear something between dinner time tomorrow and Friday at 5. 😱 Trying to stay calm...
I wish we had a good model incorporating the calendar date, the day of the weekly, the phase of the moon and various weather variables.
3-16-2009 - monday, waning gibbous, 32-39 F, overcast/cloudly/partly cloudy
3-15-2010 - monday, waning crescent, 39-45 F, rain/fog/overcast
3-3-2011 - thursday, waning crescent, 12-29 F, partly cloudy
