Can I withdraw even though I never applied?

Can I withdraw even though I never applied?

Dear NYU School of Medicine Admissions,

Although I never applied to your program, I would like to withdraw any intentions I ever had of applying on the basis that you would not have rejected my application in a timely manner if I had applied.

Sincerely,

Hotshy

So has anyone heard anything (for themselves or from others) about whether any acceptances have been issued since the initial wave back in December?

Also, does anyone know how long they gave the people, who were accepted back in Dec, to make a decision?

I don't think so. I believe more news (according to last years thread) will be released closer towards March 1st, but sometime before.

Also, does anyone know how long they gave the people, who were accepted back in Dec, to make a decision?

One week

It's been a long road interviewing with no acceptances last year and a reapplication this year. I just got my first med school acceptance EVER and what do you know, it's at FREAKING NYU!!! ON VALENTINES DAY!!! Very excited as you can tell. How can I not love NYU... (interviewed mid-october, so to all you early interviewers who haven't heard, its not over yet!)

Haha congratulations you guys! Awesome Valentines Day treat for sure =D

I imagine that no one has a clue, but anyone think that acceptances will continue to go out today/tomorrow/at all?

Just checked my status. Waitlisted. Interviewed mid-November, and my status hadn't changed until recently. So everyone should check! I'm going to withdraw though, I have an acceptance elsewhere. Congrats to everyone accepted so far and good luck to everyone else! :luck:

Just wondering - about how many people does NYU usually take from their wait list, and when do you think there will be some movement?

waitlisted too. interviewed mid-november.

I just got rejected via email pre-interview.

I guess the statuses change before the e-mail comes...I haven't gotten an e-mail yet but my status already says "Rejected" (pre-interview).

EDIT: There we go. E-mail received 9:22am.

Has anyone been rejected post-interview or do they just waitlist everyone that isn't accepted?

a few people posted post-interview rejections above.

does anyone have an idea of the breakdown of acceptance:rejections:waitlists post-interview?

(I was placed on the wait list, but I am just curious)

Yes, I just checked my status and it said rejected. I interviewed during the first week of November

+1 Rejected. Interviewed mid December. Stings because I thought I would have a chance at least to be waitlisted.... but my interview experience was weird and threw me off a bit.

Anyone else have an interviewer who blatantly celebrated a different school's curriculum? Looking back, I think he wanted me to respond in a particular way, but I was caught off guard, so I just remained neutral and listened to him ramble for twenty minutes about it. Baaaahhh. Oh, well. Was not meant to be.

Also rejected (via status update, no email yet). I'm a little upset that I wasn't at least waitlisted, but I have other acceptances so it's not the end of the world. My interview was also very weird - my interviewer spent the whole time talking about NYC nightlife and culture so I wasn't sure how to respond. Interviewed mid-November.

Wait-listed as well 🙁 interviewed in mid-december
I knew I loved NYU, but I didn't realize how much until I saw that e-mail. I wanted an acceptance sooooo badly! But there is still hope! Hopefully I'll be joining those of you who were accepted! Does anyone know their wait-list stats?? How many students, what percentage of total class etc? If you do, please share!!

Congratulations to everyone accepted, and good luck and best wishes to those who were rejected!

For all those asking about waitlists, I am not sure about the numbers and ratios and such, however if this can offer any peace to an anxious mind: I stayed with student hosts, and all of them came off the waitlist.

Waitlisted. 🙁

Can't say I had the best interview experience here. My interviewer asked me two questions: How old are you and how many siblings do you have. The rest of the "interview" consisted of him holding an extended one-sided conversation whose topic of discussion ranged from the Cleveland Lerner Clinic to ancient British history to aliens, back to Cleveland Lerner Clinic to a random woman named Nancy and how hilarious she was, to suicide rates at Columbia back in his day, then back to Cleveland Lerner Clinic. I don't believe NYU was mentioned once! There were no transitions between any of these topics, no segues to speak of. It was just a mish-mash of whatever thoughts took form in his head. Finally, he thanked me for coming in to interview. I was shocked. It was a surreal experience and I fully expected a camera crew to rush in and yell, "Surprise! Okay, now on to your real interview!" But there was no other interview....

The only questions asked of me after the initial two were rhetorical, so they were just questions to set up his next topic of conversation. I wanted to fill out the survey that NYU sent after the interview but my interviewer's name wasn't even on the list to choose from! What the heck!?

Oh well. I really did love NYU.

I'll keep hope alive. Good luck to fellow waitlisters out there!

This belongs on the most bizarre interview thread. Wow....
I had the same problem with the survey, tho my interviewer was extremely nice and encouraging. Same results tho.
