Just got that too. Interviewed last week. So 4 acceptance spots left, and then a chance to be on the waitlist? has anyone been waitlisted yet?

I think they mean 4 more release dates before end of March, not 4 more spots.

Accepted! OOS. Had so much fun in Tucson when I visited- the first years showed us a really good time!

I wonder... what's the latest interview date for those getting in this round? Did this go to everyone, or only those that they looked at? This email didn't go out last acceptance round...

I interviewed 11/29, so I'm just wondering if I was looked at or not this round.

Thoughts?

I am a definite troll but who cares? My wife just got into Tucson!!! She interviewed on 11/15. Non-trad with 38O - 3.61GPA - 3.56SGPA.......

If you interviewed last week, then it doesn't apply to you. I interviewed last week too. At the end of the day, the admissions staff told us to ignore the email that was sent out today. They haven't had a chance to evaluate us yet. The next round of acceptances will include your app. There are not 4 spots left. There are 4 more dates when you can receive your acceptance.

Does anyone know when the next round of acceptances will be??

So to clarify, there was another acceptance round today? Meaning there have been 2 so far and 4 more to go?

For anyone who interviewed on 12/9/11: Does this last round include our apps? Or do you guys think it's still too soon??
Thanks! 🙂

+1, interviewed early November. So sad. 🙁 Anyone know if there is still hope? Do many people from this pool get accepted in later rounds?

Last year, they went pretty deep into the WL. Take a look at the graph from the last few years, but there is definitely hope. Some of my classmates were in the 50's and I believe 60's and got in, so don't give up hope yet. Good luck!

Do they rank the WL? I know they did 2 to 3 years ago...

Accepted yesterday afternoon! Interviewed 10/29. In-state and re-applicant.

Got accepted yesterday!!! OOS! To those that were accepted, are we supposed to send in an e-mail as a formal written letter? Also, it says to send in a copy of the essential qualifications with our acceptance letter, does this mean a copy of our acceptance e-mail because I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet.

Congrats!! On the email we got it said to send in a written letter of acceptance of the appointment and also the signed copy of the student code of conduct. We have not got anything in the mail yet.

And also the essential qualifications - this all came in the acceptance email as attachments

Ya i just typed up a short letter accepting their offer and saying i would abide by code of conduct. Sent that in with essential qualifications form and my domicile affadavit since im in state. I emailed the admissions officd a week later and they said everything was recievef and in good order, and they would be in contact soon about next steps

Thanks colberag!! Congrats to everybody that got acceptances and good luck to those for the next round!!

The WL was ranked last year. I have had not heard differently for this year, but that doesn't mean they haven't changed it. In old applicant threads there are charts that show the number of WL rank, acceptance date and total WL count to give you a rough idea of your odds whenever that comes out - which I assume will not be until the spring.

Congrats on all acceptances!

Upcoming interview rescheduled for two and a half weeks later. Are you kidding me? I cannot express enough how displeased I am with the complete lack of professionalism from this school. I really hope to get another acceptance so that I can withdrawal from this place.

If you're so displeased with them, withdraw. UA is my top choice- regardless of any of their administrative problems. I'd happily take your interview.

Same story all year from many applicants. I would rather not get into med school, honestly, which is why I withdrew my app from Tucson.

What reason did they offer when they rescheduled you!? Poor form, Tucson

The school is definitely going to have to overlook some of my deficiencies to offer me a seat, so I think it's fair I overlook a few of the minor screw-ups they have made. They actually rejected me prior to the interview invite. I was impressed by UA during my interview day. If I got an offer I would be tempted to jump on it right away, even though I have 3 more interviews this cycle.

When did you interview??

I'm still trying to find anyone that got in from a late November interview...

If I had already bought a plane ticket and they rescheduled my interview w/o notice, I would be livid. Not to mention the numerous rejections only to be later offered an interview. It IS ridiculous.

UGA2008, I had my interview on 11/29 and got accepted on 12/19

Of course it is. However, there are going to be 20,000 people who have no choice but to reapply come June. I really don't want to be one of them. If it ends up with me at a school that hasn't shown as much consideration for their applicants as I'd like, so be it. Being a doctor and achieving my dream is more important to me than administrative issues, however egregious they may be.

I would be livid too but yeah being a reapp, I know what you mean BrandNewDay. Plus I think people judging this school just because the admissions office has had some administrative issues and disorganization is just ludicrous in my opinion. You're seriously not going to be thinking about them when you really get into the meat of med school.

I understand all of the frustration, but I urge you not to make your med school decision based on the admissions staff (and they really are good people). Look deeper into the programs and if they are a good fit for you. I understand the adage that the admissions reflects the school, but that is not always the case, although it can be difficult to judge from your limited interactions with other staff. Revamping the admissions process is bound to cause some disorganization, although it is unfortunate. I can attest that there are so many amazing faculty, administrative staff, students and programs that more than make up for any admissions issues. Ultimately, it comes down to where you get in and what feels right to you, location, finances etc. Don't lose sight of why you are there - the clinical staff is far more important to your education than the admissions staff - just a thought.

Any idea if UA accepts OOSpeople from the Wait List? Thanks so much for your input.

I can't speak to how they did last year (pre-secondary rejection), but I know how many changes they went through this year. It sucks, but they can do whatever they want and I'll put up with it. I can't afford to have standards in this process- otherwise I'll end up in grad school. I really don't like grad school. If that means classes are held at 2 am in a freezer, I'll buy a really nice coat. I just want to be a doctor.

I am fairly sure that OOS were accepted off the WL last year. It all depends on how many of the OOS acceptances they hand out, and they can't go over the % limit, which they increased this year. I am an OOSer, but I was a regular accept.

GL and I am happy to answer any questions if I can.

Any current UA med students part of the BIG or CUP program? Can you tell me about their competitiveness? Thanks! I'm interviewing on the 1/6/12 !

I had to lol at that one.

+1 I'll bring the thermos full of coffee.

Hey guys. So I applied pretty late this year, like right up to the deadline (late MCAT). Can someone explain how this acceptance round works? So if I end up getting an interview, will my chances be out of my interviewing group, or the group plus the WL?

If you interview your chances of acceptance will be out of the pool of all people who already interviewed, not just those from your interview date. They told us this but to confirm, I interviewed pretty early but was accepted in the second round of acceptances (both occurred after my interview date).

I am a CUP member. It is open to everyone who wants to participate, and there are plenty of opportunities. There is a mad dash to sign up for certain events, but that doesn't mean that the program is competitive - everyone is able to do CUP events. I would encourage you to try lots of them and find the ones that really interest you.

Hey all,

I interviewed Dec 21st (much later than I would have liked, but inevitable because of school schedules etc). Just wondering if anyone knows when the Jan acceptance release date will be and if our group of interviews are likely to be included. Thanks again, congrats to all those with acceptances and good luck to all those still waiting!

UA Tucson has not published a list of acceptance release dates, and said that they would not. Unless they said specifically that you would not be eligible for the next release date, I would expect that you will be considered for the next batch and subsequent groups up until March.

They also said, on my interview day, that every person that had been interviewed would be sent a courtesy email to notify them that acceptances were being released. This probably doesn't help a whole lot, but most of us are in the dark. I'd estimate that the next date will be later in the month, somewhere around the 16th or 23rd.

hello all! I'm interviewing here on the 10th, and was wondering if any current students would be willing to host me the night of the 8th (this upcoming Sunday) and if you had time. i would be so grateful, thanks so much in advance. happy new years!

Hello everybody! I'm an AZ resident who will applying to U of A next application cycle, and I was wondering what the MCAT/GPA cutoffs for scholarships were, if there are any? U of A would be my first, and cheapest, choice anyway, but I figured I could use the extra motivation while I'm studying for the MCAT. 🙂

Any current UA-Tucson students willing to answer a few questions?

-Are lectures mandatory? If not, are they available via video or audio recordings in a timely fashion (i.e. later that day)?
--How much mandatory attendance is required during an average week?

-Are powerpoints and/or lecture handouts provided for each lecture? Are learning objectives clearly stated and concise?

-How often are tests given? Are they NBME-style exams or written by each individual professors?

-How much time off is there between the end of 2nd year and the beginning of 3rd year?

-Are there any elective rotations available during 3rd year? How much elective time/unstructured rotations are available during 4th year?

Thanks!

Another question for current students:

Are all of the third and fourth year rotations done at UMC? Or, are they spread out across Kino, TMC, St. Mary's, etc?

Thanks!
