Ahh, I'm angsty about not getting a secondary yet, but I also haven't gotten the amcas receipt email either.

wow so they don't email you when you get an interview invite or what?

Last year, some people got email notifications for interview invites and other people didn't get an email, just a status change. I never got an email for my interview invite, I just randomly checked my status one day and it was there.

So definitely make sure to check your online status from time to time.

Crazy! Thanks for the info.

Wouldn't it be wild if someone didn't know about their interview because they didn't check their status?

Interview invite via status change this morning, no email, Sept. 20th is judgement day 😛

Thanks!

Yeah, I was surprised to see that my application status was updated today. My AMCAS application was verified 6/9. Received secondary application 7/8 and submitted it 7/10. Application complete 7/14.

Here are my stats: Just graduated from UCLA last month with a BS in bioengineering. My numbers are pretty so-so. GPA: 3.7. MCAT: 32Q.

GRATS Ahmad! 🙂 dang you submitted super early. Is this for MD or MD/PhD?

Is any Interview Status still said "under review"?
my status has been under review since 7/15...
wonder why they need such a long time to review my app...

Congrats on the interview invites! 🙂

Chill out, it hasn't been very long yet... at least give them 2 weeks, haha...

Interview invites already? Wow, good job everyone. I didn't have my interview until December. You guys are rockstars.

You'll probably see me on interview day. I'll be the guy eating all the food. Stop by and say hi.

Hmm, it still says that my application is pending for a secondary and I was complete on 6/1. Does this mean rejection?

Stats- 31Q
3.9 gpa

?.. are you talking about the secondary? UCI didnt send out their secondaries til july 8th or so I believe.

did any of you interview invitees apply for the Prime Program? I submitted my secondary on 7/14 and I'm wondering if it takes a little longer for PRIME applicants to get invites.

Got an interview invite. I don't mean to be a tease, but they have currently have dates on 9/20 and 10/3, in case anybody wanted to plan something ahead of time...

Good luck, everyone. :luck:

are people getting invites applying to regular MD??
does anyone hear any rejection yet??

rejected. does not bode well for my top heavy list

Sorry to hear that, Etorphine. I still have not heard anything.

Keep the faith, I'm sure you'll have better luck elsewhere!! :luck:

Hey guys,

Try not to worry too much at this point. There's still tons of time for interview invites and they don't give them all away at once!!! I didn't get my interview invite until Nov. If there is anything I've learned from last year's application cycle, is that admissions aren't as predictable as you think. They don't necessarily look at applications in perfect chronological order. So just because someone received a secondary/interview invite who was complete after you doesn't automatically mean you're rejected!

And I'm also convinced there's more to the secondary screening that just stats. We couldn't find a pattern either last year.

So UCSD and UCI both have this 1 month rule where if you are not
complete (LOR included) they will withdraw your application. Is this true?
My letters are not going to be in anytime soon and my time's almost up...:scared:

I saw the one month deadline for secondary but no mention of 1 month deadline for LOR. Where did you get this information?

Once you receive an e-mail invitation to submit a secondary application, you will have one month to complete the process. For the secondary application to be considered complete the following components must be submitted online or received by the Office of Admissions and Outreach:
1.
Secondary application submitted online
2.
Letters of Recommendation submitted to the AMCAS Letters Service
3.
Secondary Application Fee
See above

When it comes to the Prerequistes section, if you went to a quarter school, should you convert units to semesters or leave it as is? The application says "*Use semester hour value assigned on your verified AMCAS application" so I am assuming it means leave as is. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

W/e # AMCAS uses on your verified application, use that

babydragon

I do not read this the same way you do. The secondary got to be in within 30 days from invite but not the LOR. In order for you to receive a status complete online then you will have to have all three items in.
1. Secondary
2. LOR
3. Fee

This is directly from their FAQ on their SOM web page.

What is the deadline for the secondary application process?
Applicants have one month from the date the secondary application was e-mailed to them by the Office of Admissions to complete the secondary application process.
How do I submit letters of recommendation?
UC Irvine is participating in the AMCAS Letters Service. Please visit AMCAS Letters for more details about this service. UC Irvine will not accept any letters of recommendation sent directly to the medical school.
The Admissions Committee will only be reviewing letters of recommendation from those applicants that received a secondary application. NOTE: Even if we have received your LOR's from AMCAS, if you did not receive a secondary application, your online status page will not reflect a "Letters Complete Date" and your letters will not be acknowledged on the online status page.🙂

Got an interview! No flight or hotel means I save some money

I haven't gotten a secondary yet (but got the verification email) and just noticed that the red "Pending" status next to the secondary has disappeared, as well as the description at the bottom of the page. Does this mean rejection? Or did I (hopefully) just break it by checking so often? Anyone else have this?

I just checked mine, and it still says "Pending"...so yeah..lol idk
hopefully you will receive a secondary soon!

i remember seeing this in the 2010-11 thread, but can't remember what i meant, but thought i'd let you know so you can search it

If you have not received a secondary yet, and you submitted your primary early, you can give UCI a call and ask. They are not mean and calling will not create a negative mark on your application file. However, if you call every week and ask about your application then yes, a black mark will be made. But if you kindly ask about the status of the secondary they will tell you. If you're worried give them a call, that's why they are there.

Thanks. I looked through it earlier and it seems that the interview status would randomly go blank with no apparent correlation to acceptance/rejection. Hopefully the same is true for pre-secondary.

Thanks for asking, I saw the same thing happen to my status.

Yup, received 7/8. App was verified 6/9. IS

Ok thanks! Wow it took them almost a month??
My amcas was verified 7/5 (IS)..i guess it will take longer than i expected than..if i ever get one lol

Got an interview invite yesterday. They don't send you an e-mail!

Edit: was complete 7/15

Same situation so I just called the Adcom office and admissions staff said that this indicates its currently being reviewed by the committee.

for those that got interviews early.

in the interview directions--- do you guys remember the link where we had to tell them something about our legal residence or whatever? and you needed a UCInetID number to do it?

since we don't have that and I didnt get a chance to call the number on the site I skipped it over.

But not I went back to the interview instructions page the statement of legal residence link and the instructions to do that is not on the interview instructions page anymore.

does this mean that shouldn't have been there the first place and we don't need to do anything anymore?

I saved a copy of the instructions when I scheduled my interview, so I see what you mean. For reference, the link is here.

The page says that only admitted students who will be enrolling need to complete that statement, so yeah, I think we don't need to worry about it (for now?). Good luck at the interview! :luck:

My interview status still says "Under Review", however above the status table a new thing popped up this morning saying below ....any ideas as to what it means?

Click here to activate your UCINetID. As you progress through the admissions process you may need the UCINetID to access university systems, e.g. Financial Aid.
