Just got the invite, only dates available are Oct 3rd and the 17th. Just thought I would l pass along the info.

Got the interview invite too. No email though but found it on my profile.

Just got rejected this morning. Complete 7/15. MCAT 33P, GPA 3.77

Just added this school to my AMCAS yesterday. OSS though. Still haven't received any notification of receiving my primary app from them & they've already been inviting applicants for interviews! wow. this probably won't turn out well. oh well, UC Irvine seems like such a great school😍

i guess they are really stuck on these 7/15 apps, must be doing them in order

"Your initial review is complete. We ask for your continued patience as we proceed with the interview status decision process, which will conclude by March 1st."

complete 7/15

Received the "we've received your AMCAS" and Secondary Invite tonight. I was verified one week ago, so it took them a while to get back to me.

You're all over these threads! On a roll, I think.

just received a "decision pending" status change:

*Your application has been reviewed and is on the interview alternate list. All final interview decisions will be made by March 1st.

On the bright side, this is a tad bit better than being outright rejected. Will still hope that maybe the tides of luck will sway in my favor.

Good luck to the rest who have been granted an interview so far! you guys will own it!

Mind stating when you were complete? Goodluck to you!

im still under review!
complete 7/22/11

They're really taking their time with those 7/15 apps...

From what I have heard thus far from adcom members from several different schools is that the two characteristics that give an application priorty is submission date and *application strength (GPA/MCAT).

This may give the illusion that they are spending a great deal of time with any application batch when in fact it is possible they've been considering people complete much later.

You'll get reviewed eventually, hang in there.

*does not apply to ALL schools

Random question for the secondary. So I'm entering my prereqs, and I took AP Stats in high school. Their website says they take AP credit if it appears on your college transcript. My APs were just lumped together and I got 48 units, but it doesn't specify which. Is that cool? :eyebrow:

You'll have to call and ask to know for sure. But I'm guessing no. How would they know stats was in there if it just says AP credit 48. But they may have a work around for you. Call the office.

Did you enter in separate AP courses on your primary? I just put in the same info that I entered on my primary.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. Thanks!

Nope because it wasn't on my official transcripts. On my verified AMCAS it does just throw in AP coursework, though. Maybe because I go to another UC, they could just pass my AP stuff along from when I applied to college 😛 Haha, wishfulthinking. I'll call to be sure.

This is just begging to turn into another flame war about whether undergrad name matters.

His asterisk was referring to the fact that not all schools consider strength only by numbers (also by ECs and LORs for example), for all those who are thinking about starting said war

🙁.. That's weird, I don't think they did the whole "interview alternate list" last year... But it's not over until they say it's over!!

Thanks for looking out - I didn't mean to stir the pot.

All I am saying is this: even if you submit early, your application may be looked at LATER than an individual who submitted after you but had higher numbers (this applies ONLY to the school's to which adcoms members I have spoken to, which may be meaningless but may give some sort of insight on how the application may work [which I always find interesting])

Though I cannot quote people I have talked to, I attempted to find a quote I read from LizzyM stating basically what I summarized above. If you want confirmation on this proposed method you can try PM'ing her and asking her yourself. Apparently, this is how her admissions committee operates.

vs

Your application has been reviewed and is on the interview alternate list. All final interview decisions will be made by March 1st

Alternative = higher priority wait list I suppose?

They both kind of read like "we've decided not to make any decisions about you right now."

in a perfect world 🙄

still in the running though, are you from irvine as well?

i c what u did dare.

also, grats on the many interviews you have lined up.

it's all in good fun, good luck to you. thanks.

I just think if every school gave pref to undergrad, many people would get screwed =(

yea, getting a little worried, got 2 rejections, and 2 holds so far... need some good news soon lol. I'm getting antsy about Irvine, by far my # 1 choice.

I hope schools show you some love soon, on the most brightest of perspectives (I know, don't roll your eyes), receiving not so-good-news before great news will often make you appreciate it that much more.

SOON.

edit: swedish meal time should keep you busy for the next 3:48 minutes of your life

lol, congrats on ur drexel invite, i still haven't received their secondary lol.

I haven't gotten any emails from Drexel yet. I haven't gotten their secondary, or even an email acknowledging that they've received my primary. I was verified 3 weeks ago. Should I be concerned or does this seem normal?

they do it in batches. don't worry.

wait.... this is the UC Irvine thread. lol

Hi Everyone,

So I received a secondary invite from UC Irvine on 7/25, and I didn't complete it until today 8/27.

I know they have a one month rule (just learned that today, silly me), but I checked my applicant status page, and nothing really changed. I am wondering if it's a hard and fast rule? It's only been a month and two days...

Thanks!!

Try calling tomorrow, I doubt any of us will be able to provide any conclusive assistance. Hope things work out for you though, that is quite a pickle to be in.
