Speaking of waitlist, I just got an email asking me to fill out a form to either continue being considered or officially withdraw. I'll be withdrawing, goodluck to everyone on the alternate list this year!

Me too. I interviewed the first day. Ha. Been a while.

I remain pretty pessimistic. UCI hasn't seemed to have much movement the last two years (based on my reading of the threads). 😡

Any other withdraws after that e-mail today? I confirmed that I want to remain on the alternate list - fingers crossed for some quick movement!

I'm remaining on the list, but based on the scant movement in previous years, I'm not really getting to hopeful.

I do know for a fact of someone who withdrew from UCI to matriculate at the other school for which we were both attending second-look weekend.

So, two spots! Maybe you and I will get them, nucleophilic! 😀
 
the dean on interview day said that a large portion of the class comes from the alternate list. I'd remain hopeful but also keep in mind that there are no guarantees in this process
 
Hey everyone!

It was an incredibly difficult decision, but I've withdrawn my acceptance from UCI. I will sorely miss my alma mater. The undergrad campus, medical school, and medical center have been incredibly good to me!

To everyone that has been accepted and is planning on matriculating, I congratulate you! It really is a great school with an amazing faculty and study body!

To those on the waitlist, I sincerely hope that my acceptance heads your way. I must be tough to face more waiting in this process, but we're less than a week away from May 15th. Now's a good time to remind the school that you're interested. Good luck! :luck:
 
did anyone receive any sort of scholarship this year? Does UCI give out Regents scholarships anymore?
 
I just sent my declining acceptance email for the MD and PRIME LC program. Hope my spot goes to someone on the waiting list. Good luck to everyone still waiting for news!

I dont think so.. I don't remember any school accepting additional letters post interview.. Does anyone know if Dr. Peterson mentioned this during their interview day?
 
i remember her saying no. I guess someone on sdn a few years back posted that they got in after sending additional letters, so everyone started sending them in, which she and/or admissions committee didn't like

I dunno . . . I bet UCI over-accepts in the first place, just to hedge their bets. I wonder, really, how current withdrawals are going to matter, if it simply shrinks their class to the right size.
 
Magic, I noticed from your MDApps that you were accepted to rush. You're really going to like it there, Chicago is not a bad city at all to go to coming from CA. I did the CA to Chicago thing too. Let's hope the uci thing works out though

Has anyone talked to the admissions office to see when they will likely start sending out more acceptances? If not, I'll probably call tomorrow and see what they say.
 
I've been wondering this too, but haven't called them yet. If you do call and they tell you, would you please post what you learn here? I'm sure all of us anxiously waiting to hear on the wait list would appreciate it!
 
Yes, please let us know what the office says! It's hard not to be on pins and needles every day since the 15th!
 
So I called this morning, and she said some more acceptances may have already been sent out because of the May 15th deadline, and that others would roll out through August. She said there isn't one set time we should expect to hear back. Seems like people were hearing right around the same time last year though. I guess we will see.

Yeah. I'm not keeping up much hope. I would bet the class is close to full as is, just because they over-accept.
 
wow true life, this waitlist isnt moving at all... how unfortunate
 
Not a word! I just keep looking at that phone waiting for a 949 area code haha. Has anyone heard of anybody getting in since may 15th? From my take on things, it has been relatively slow movement
 
yeah, many of the ivy and some of the cali waitlists are
moving. hopefully there will be movement in the coming weeks
 
Waiting for this wait list to move is kindof like Chinese water torture. Has anyone talked to the office lately or heard anything at all?
 
I've actually spoken to the admissions committee several times since May 15th and they've only accepted 5 people off the waitlist thus far. Apparently, in the last three years, there hasn't been as much movement. BUT, it's still early and seats may open up!
 
Only 5 people... man. Oh well, that's good to know! Thanks for the update.
 
Anyone have any luck or heard of any movement? Looks like the cards are not falling in our favor this year..
