Jesus H. why so many essays? This makes duke look like child's play.

I received a secondary within a few hours of my AMCAS being received, is this significant? I only ask because it seems people are getting screened.

I'm OOS, 34Q, 3.91, but I started my own company. Maybe they liked that?

How many people actually complete this secondary? Do I have a shot?

I am OOS too and I received a secondary within a few hours of my AMCAS being received and my MCAT is WAY lower than their average (probably even lower than their 10th percentile). So I don't know how significant their screen is...This school is one of my top choices although it is a long shot :xf:

Question to all:

If I have taken one semester of math and am currently enrolled in my second semester right now (statistics), can I choose 'yes' to the question on the secondary that asks "In college have you completed one or more years of the following"??

FYI I am a senior in college and have not yet graduated.

@wacko0500 they send secondaries out to around 3,000 applicants (at least they did last year). With your numbers, you definitely have a shot here! UCLA loves well rounded people who have diverse experiences as well.

@Kiting I'm sure you can say yes, technically you are taking the class and will have completed it prior to matriculation. You can also simply state you are in the process of completing the class.

As for me, I'm still waiting on the secondary... Come on UCLA!!!

Don't the instructions answer this question?

Also, bolded relevant part

Yeah, I also applied to PRIME. I received the "primary received" message on 7/30 and a secondary invite on 8/5. I had to turn it in by 9/2 but I know that the last batch of secondaries are due in November.

Hmm, thanks for the info. Hopefully I'll get one before then! Good luck to you.

This thread needs some trolls like calbears from last year claiming fake interview invites... it would make things way more entertaining :meanie:

LOL! Oh, calbears...

PS: DGSOM is super amazing, and I want to wish everyone good luck in this cycle. I know a couple of MS1s have already offered their help, but if you have any questions, just ask. I went to undergrad here and stoked to continue the Bruin trend!

For PRIME applicants:

PRIME admissions won't start reviewing complete applications until December. Interview phone calls go out in January. Three interview dates in February, maybe March depending on year.

Thank you, Jinobi, for the information. I am a PRIME applicant and it is good to know when they might start reviewing files. I just submitted my secondary a few days ago. Good luck to everyone!

I have a question for those who already submitted the secondary: Do you know what it means when it says "Your online forms are due on: mm/dd/yyyy" on the status page? Is that just the deadline for actually submitting the secondary (I already have), or is there something else we need to do? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Thanks! 🙂

Hey guys,

Just wanted to say that I am a first year here at UCLA and absolutely love it! The curriculum is great, the resources are amazing, and the faculty and facilities are first class (Ronald Reagan Medical Center is the Best in the West and 5th in the Nation according to US News and World Report)! I am a double Bruin and went here for undergrad, so I really love the school. Hit me up if you have any questions about UCLA Med or the application process. Feel free to also check out my MDapps for any questions about my application process, I totally understand what you all are going through.

PS we just had our first meeting last week about admission tours, so we are starting up the interview process pretty soon.

Hi Bruinmarcher, thanks for the info. Are you able to tell us anything about when the first interview dates might be, and which days per week they are usually held? I'm flying transcontinental for a bunch of these UC interviews, and it'd be really helpful to get an idea of how my schedule/budget might turn out.

Thanks!🙂

So according to our little interview sheet it asked if we were available for tours at the end of the september (28th-30th), so they might be starting by the end of the month, but just might wait for October. They also said they will be doing different days different weeks. They said they will attempt to do 2-3 interview days a week with approx 2-3 groups of 8 interviewees per group (16-24 interviews a day). Sorry I can't help you out with specifics but they said that each week will be a different set of days they are interviewing which I assume depends on when enough MMI facilitators can meet to hold the MMI interviews. Hope that helps.

Is there supposed to be a date next to the transcript row on the status page? I've only got supplement and LOR.

They only require transcripts if you matriculate

So I'm gonna finally defy what I told myself I wouldn't do (post in the SSD post primary submission) but since I love all things UCLA, and its the only UC that has given me love (well in the form of the UCLA/Charles Drew University secondary), I wanted to see if anyone in here is also in a similar boat. I am totally surprised by them giving me the secondary (unless they don't screen for the UCLA/Drew program). Still waiting on David Geffen proper, but it doesn't matter since the first two years will be spent at DG anyway if in. Does anyone have any info on the CDU program?

Sorry to be badgering you all with this again...but does anyone have any ideas? I'm kinda worried because said deadline is tomorrow, and the admissions office hasn't gotten back to me. :scared:

I believe it is just the deadline to submit your secondary, so you should be fine. 🙂 I'm not sure about LORs. Someone else, feel free to jump in!

This is weird. I'm OOS and still haven't received a secondary yet. My last MCAT score was released on Aug 30th. Still no word. What's the longest I should wait before losing hope? Do they do silent rejections?

My MCAT scores were released Aug 30th and I received a secondary. They screen over half the apps though.

My app was received around 8/3ish...
But still no word about secondaries...
I'm instate by the way...
Does this mean a silent rejection?

I'm in the same boat. App was received sometime in mid-July. Still no word about the secondary 🙁

Interview invite!!! Not on computer right now so not sure what days they're offering for interviews.

Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk

and so it begins...

They do not give you the available dates up front. You select which top 3 days of the week you are able to interview, upload a picture, and wait for them to get back to you. They offer interviews M-F.

Thanks for that info, it's very helpful. Congratulations! 👍

We just received our assignments to give tours for the interview season. Based off the calendar for tour guides, they are offering 40 days of interviews from October-February.Most days will have three groups of 8 students, so about 24 interviewers for most interview days. Look forward to meeting some of you as you interview at UCLA, you're gonna love it here! 🙂

Are they emailing the interview invites or is this another status website I'm going to have to obsessively check?

Would those of you who have interviews mind sharing your stats and whether you are in state or out of state? Thanks! And Congratulations!!

IS, 33, and sGPA and cGPA 3.92; Hope that is helpful 🙂

Congrats all! When's the first interview day? Can't wait to meet you guys 😀

You should see U of Kentucky's secondary. I think it wins the Most Brutal Secondary award...

Btw I added UCLA last week some time and got the secondary today. I am a Canadian applicant so if OOS ppl are worried about getting in, I think I am just dumping 70 USD into trash by completing this one....

confession:
I JUST WANT TO GO HERE SO BAD!

I know how competitive it is OOS but ahhhh it's my dream school.
show me some loveee

also it doesn't help that even if invited for an interview, they may not occur until February :scared:

Any MSTP applicants get a secondary yet? If so, are the prompts any different, aside from listing potential advisors?

At least its only $70. I gave Mayo $100 for that privilege...

lol...does Mayo not like OOS? I applied there too...got LOR request...got it last time too then got rejected. Not expecting the outcome to change this year....

On the applicant status page do your Letter of recommendation have a date next to them? Mine dont, but all of my letters were submitted to amcas in JUNE and no other school had issues uploading them?

It says N/A. But the column to the left says RECEIVED so I'm assuming they got them

Congrats all! When's the first interview day? Can't wait to meet you guys 😀

I'm gonna go ahead and quote myself so someone can indulge me... Seriously when do interviews start? :hardy:

Mine was scheduled on the first week of October 🙂

Interview invite 9/29! Complete 7/28.

I also sent an in-the-area email a few days ago because I'll be flying from the East Coast to Southern California for 3 other interviews in the same week (now 4 in 6 days... what.). I'm not complaining, this saves me a few hundred dollars of airfare. 😳

Good luck everyone! I'm super excited!:luck:
