For those who have interviewed.

I know that you can not talk about specific things about the MMIs. However, as far as I know, you have a two minute stop where you read a prompt, then go into a room to discuss the prompt. My question to all of you who can comment, Do the interviewers give you any hints or can clarify doubts about the prompt in case you do not know the person or event they are talking about? or Are they pretty strict and tell you that they can not help you at all?

I am interviewing there next week and just want to know that! Thank you.

The prompts/scenarios are just general situations. The interviewers don't really "help" you, but most do break down the question for you a bit, ask you some variations on the scenario, etc. to get you to talk more and consider different perspectives. At my day, we were a bit divided as to whether it was "stressful", but I thought it was fine. I wouldn't worry too much ahead of time. 🙂

Thank you sharpie1006 for responding to my questions! I will try to enjoy the MMIs.

I was pretty nervous before we started, but the admissions staff are so nice, and everyone you meet is just so enthusiastic to be there that after the first couple of rounds, I started to enjoy it. It's kind of like a game show! Or think about it as the opportunity to meet a lot of cool people in a short period of time. 😛

AMCAS verified 9/19 and still haven't gotten the secondary.
Should I just assume I was screened out at this point?

Received an interview invite today! Haven't scheduled it yet.
IS, 3.6 GPA, high MCAT score. Submitted secondary on 8/20.

Do you know if UCLA cares about receiving additional LORs after submitting secondary but pre-invite?

A faculty member of UCLA has written one on my behalf and submitted to AMCAS but I already submitted the app with the required 3.

congrats mon! if i were you i'd totally have a party! (costume?)

You know what, I think I'm gonna throw on. And YOU'RE INVITED! This Saturday. You know where to find me. (costume will be a surprise)

Anyone else still not heard anything about even a secondary? I submitted my primary in June...probably a rejection at this point? 🙁

Same here. Primary done extremely early in the game but still no word 😡

Interviewing here tomorrow! So nervous! :scared: This is definitely one of my top choices and tomorrow I have to shine here. :xf:

Is anyone attending the evening social on Thursday?

Go to the social it's fun! Btw, I like your avatar, I used to kick it with those dudes from time to time and they were awesome.

For those of you who have interviewed:

Since we had 8 interviewers, to whom are you addressing your thank you notes?

Seriously? I'm pretty big on etiquette and thank you notes seem pretty standard...

For an MMI? Do you even remember all your interviewers' names?

I don't even know if Ian would know what to do with 8 thank you notes in the admissions office...

Sometimes I've sent a thank-you email to the admissions office. But seriously, beyond that, I wouldn't worry about it for a MMI. And for most schools I visited, admissions folks did not seem happy about getting snail-mailed notes. 😛

Etiquette is great in general, but I really don't think you need to stress yourself out about sending a packet of blind thank you notes for the MMI.

But if you are anything like I was as a pre-med student, I'm sure you'll do it anyway 😛

That's sort of what I was thinking of doing...

Honestly, not so much a neurotic premed--more like a nontrad with a mother who took thank you notes preeeeetty seriously and a bitterness toward all of my married friends who never sent me thank you notes for their wedding gifts. =)

Thanks for the input, all.

Did you really send 8 thank you notes?

I sent one to the somadmiss (or whatever it is) email address to thank the "staff" in general for arranging the MMI because it seems like it took a lot of work and planning, etc. etc.

I only sent one addressed to Ian, actually--I couldn't remember any other names, lol!

Then I heard it wasn't necessary to send any for the MMI...

I didn't send any thank you notes for the MMI and yet I am still here! (I just joined SDN and am really excited about this, so if you have any questions about UCLA, let me know and I would be happy to help.)

Welcome! (to the only thread I have time to read anymore 🙁)

Interviewed here yesterday and it was pretty awesome! I kind of like MMI after that 80 minute mental exercise.

Yeah I thought i was going to hate MMI going into it and came out enjoying it for the most part. The only thing I didn't like was at one of my stations, the interviewer spent 2 minutes at the beginning asking me a bunch of questions completely unrelated to the prompt we were supposed to be discussing... he kept asking about what schools I had already been accepted to and what my top choice was. I finally got him on track but kind of sucked that time was wasted on something that was completely pointless to the task at hand.

That is kind of awful that the interviewer put you in that position. They tell us, the interviewees, to stay on track. I did dislike one of those stations. I felt it was made to frustate us as much as possible. I think you know which one I am talking about. But, oh well, it is all done now. :xf::luck: We'll see what happens.

Is UCLA receptive to updates/interest letters if they haven't offered you an interview yet?

Interview invite this morning. After this one, I'm done! 👍

I dont think they are, but if you want to double check just call the office

Interview invite! Complete in early September and super excited about visiting UCLA 🙂

So I completed all my application material (secondaries etc). for this school in july and have not heard anything! I'm in-state resident and interviewed at other UCs (just UCSF) a couple months ago- yet no word from UCLA.

I sent an in the area email a while back- still no word.

Does anyone know when the last II is given out (from stalking prev years' threads?)

hi guys, I have an interview here on Tuesday. Approximately what time can I expect to be done with the interview day?

Yeah That's about accurate although onmy interview day we ran 45 minutes oversold I'dsaybepreparedto stay until 2.

Is this thread for both UCLA Geffens and UCLA Drew med schools? I have a quick question. Do they both require statistics, or just one year of mathematics in either Calculus or Stats? I have tried searching for UCLA Geffens' admissions email to ask this question, but I keep running into broken links on their website. If anyone would give me their admissions office email, I'd appreciate it.
