I interviewed in November and was told that day that we would be hearing back in January... Does anyone know when we might be hearing back (since I haven't heard yet)?

They say they have decisions by January but that might only be a select few that actually receive it. Last year's forums show that they start to receive decisions by the end of March which makes sense because of the AAMC Traffic Rules of admission.

Last year was a special case because it was the first year of MMI, which resulted in the first acceptances not going out until March/April. This year should be different. When I interviewed they told us that they were hoping to notify people on January 15, but they noted that it could very well be February before they notify us of anything as they were running a little bit behind schedule.

I called today. The vast majority of people will hear back in march, a very tiny group (maybe like a couple dozen) will hear back in february. So wait for two more months.

I really hope that's the case that it's quicker this year.

Last interview day = February 24th, they will extend invites until the 23rd.

Wow. That's pretty early. My hopes are being stifled every moment. And I thought there were people who
just recently received secondaries...what's up with that?

By the way, is UCLA receptive to interest letters?

i have a interview scheduled at 8:45. When should I be done? I'm trying to book flights

Sorry to cause more neurotic-ism... but can anyone else not log into the status page right now?

This link is informative.

If you scroll ~1/3rd the way down you'll find this:

What the error means is that the SQL Server you defined in your connection string is invalid - either because it is currently down, you named it wrong (either by hostname, DNS/domain or IP address), or you don't have permission to connect.

Further searching...

My guess is that it's nothing very interesting. At very best the server is down while they add updates, which at most will say "Decision letter sent"

EDIT: Site is back up. Mystery irrelevant.

Rejection letter in the mail today 🙁 pre-secondary

To anyone whose interview day started at 7:45am, what time did you guys get out? My plane leaves at 6:50pm from LAX and wanted to know if I would be able to leave campus by 3.

I received an interview invite yesterday! They are still giving out interviews 🙂

lol wow it seems like theyve been passing out interviews like candy lately. i wish they put that much time and energy into sending out acceptances by now. Its february already!

Rejected. Rejected for UG years back and now for medical. At least they are consistent 😛. Pre-secondary for the future years who will look back on this thread.

I agree. I want to be able to plan properly in choosing the medical school I would like to attend.

and you know what the dumbest thing is? when i went to interview, half the people i met were out of state, and were already accepted at like 5-6 other schools. They wasted a lot of time this cycle interviewing unnecessary people.

You must have interviewed later on, when I went for my interview, everyone was in-state.

Yep that seems to be the trend. Everyone i know who interviewed experienced the same thing

i interviewed 12/5 and i was the only in state person in my group

I guess they just want more out of state people so they can get more money via tuition. I heard CA will run out of cash by March.. or something along those lines.

While I like your reasoning, that argument really only applies to the undergraduate UCLA. For out of state students at Geffen, it costs about 20% extra. And the additional revenue they make off out of state students would be miniscule (theres only like 120 or so regular MD students at Geffen per year) compared to Geffens actual operating budget

Not to mention that out of state students become in-state after a year.

Wow. Didn't know about that. 👍

But there is still a considerable difference in tuition for in state vs out of state.
$40407 vs $28162.

But I don't seriously think UCLA looks to be interviewing more OOS students this year to make money. That's just... weird...

I went on 10/28 and there was a moment during the lunch when they asked if anyone was out of state and no one said anything or raised their hand.

When I was there in november, I was the only OOS person there.

I interviewed in November as well and there was only one person that was OOS in my group. The vast majority were IS with 3 or 4 being from UCLA. Maybe you interviewed on a day in which a lot of OOSers interviewed? I also wouldn't say that Geffen "wasted a lot of time" in interviewing impressive OOSers. As a matter of fact, I would be very surprised if they didn't take the time to learn more about their most capable applicants.

Rejected from my alma mater for the third time.

Tip: UCLA does not take third time reapplicants. Should have read their website beforehand...

Anyone if know if UCLA is receptive to updates post-interview?

Rejected today. Never received a secondary.

Congrats to those accepted/good luck to those waiting to hear back 🙂

Sadly this is probably one of the few schools that has yet to release decisions on acceptance, unless I'm mistaken and there are people who did receive them and have not posted yet. Good luck with the rest of your application cycle!

Is anyone else's application currently being reviewed by the committee???

II last week! will be interviewing on the 9th, hope there are still spots left and i'm not interviewing for a waitlist 🙁

anyone else interviewing this thursday?!

UCLA should declare themselves non-rolling in the future. #somuchwaiting.

Hey,
Just wanted to see if anyone had any questions about UCLA (myths or truths about the school) that I could help clarify. I'm in the middle of third year, so a little tough to respond promptly, but rest assured I will. Good luck to all of those on the waitlist, and to those who got in. My email is [email protected]

Cheers,
Kiran
