Got this too. Yeah I think it's a rejection if we haven't interviewed. Sad. 🙁

Yeah, it says it was final decision letter sent on the 10th. Sad, but I was surprised I was even screened in, so oh well...

Is anyone staying at hotel Angeleno tonight before tommorow's ( thurs.) interview? If so, come up the top floor bar for a beer! I have an orange hoodie on...

does anyone else have everything blank on the application status page except for letter of recs and secondaries?

+1

I called admissions today
The lady said
They should finish up by the next 2 weeks
So I'm guessing for all of us waiting for ii
We shall hear back soon

Are they finishing up with interviews? Or finishing up with selecting their new class?

(clearly I'm antsy like a 5 year old on time-out)

I think that means they haven't invited you for an interview...

i wouldn't worry too much. i interviewed yesterday and they said no acceptances have been sent out yet.

if any of you had the later interview i gave you guys the peace sign as the shuttle drove by me on my way to class. hope it went well

Anyone know which email address we send updates to? I couldn't find a single contact on the admissions website lol.

from my understanding...finalize reviewing secondaries

I just sent it to their general email, but then again, I haven't gotten a confirmation yet. I'll tell you if I do.

That might be your issue, then...I sent my update to [email protected] and got a response the next day.

Hmm...thanks for letting me know. It's weird because I copied that address from the interview invite email they sent me. I wonder what the difference is? Maybe I should resend...

EDIT: I read the interview invite letter on my status page and saw the [email protected] address under the header. Strange. I sent the same email again to this address. I'll let you all know if I get a reply!

Was it a major update? Perhaps they only respond to you if its a major update...

It was an update about a publication, so idk. I suspect that the person who gets the email just downloads the file and adds it to your application without looking at it. The Adcom probably reads it at a later point in time. In which case, I'd assume the person dealing with the emails would just respond to all of them without differentiating between the type of update. But that's all speculation, of course!

I had a couple of different updates, but I don't think they differentiate between them at all.

Sounds about right. I had also called Admissions to see if there was a method of communication that they preferred, and they told me that (if I were to e-mail it), I should send it to the somadmiss address. Keep me updated on how it works out for you! :luck:

I got an "out of the office" response from the somadmiss address that reads: "Thank you for your inquiry about the UCLA School of Medicine admissions process. You will receive a personal response within a couple of days." So, looks like that's the one! Thanks for letting me know. 👍

No problem! Good luck 🙂

Does anyone know if they are still sending IIs until the end of this week or did they stop last Friday?

For those of us who interviewed this past week, do you remember when they said we'd hear back from them?

The wait is killing me and it's only been a week!

When you are rejected (postsecondary but preinterview), do they send a snailmail letter or an email?

I only interviewed in early January and I am already dying to hear a decision. I can't imagine how it must be for those that interviewed back in October/November. I already knew to expect UCLA to be the last to release decisions (of the rolling schools at least) but I want to go here SO. BAD. - Let's hope March 1st is the special day, instead of march 15th.

:luck::luck::luck: to all!

From what i understood when i called, the mmi score plays a part in determining how early you hear back, but it seems that those who interviewed in oct/nov will hear first

I hope so. I was in the second or third group and I haven't heard a single single thing yet. Also replying to the questions about update letters, I originally sent it to the medad* one, but got no response. On Monday I sent my update (same one) to the som* address and got a response the same day (saying it had been added to my file). Thanks so much folks! I really would have been out of luck if I hadn't found that on here!

I thought they will be interviewing through march

Did you call them? A couple of med students inthe preceding pages said feb 24th, did the school say they changed it? If so, im disappointed, i was hoping theyd finally be over...

Yesterday I was told they are still sending out iis

Someone said earlier in the thread that they were sending interviews up until the 23rd, but ending the interviews on the 24th. Did they tell you yesterday that the invites were for march? That wouldbe interesting. Bc they have zero med student/interviewee socials scheduled after this week. Just wondering

The only definitive thing very recently at my interview was that it was emphasized many times that they will only be interviewing 700 people in which they will offer 240 acceptances.

Just wondering, who told you those numbers? I thought they only accept ~124? or is that combined with the other programs i.e. Charles Drew? if so, the total number must be wrong because I was told on interview day that David Geffen interviews 660, and I know Charles Drew interviews ~200, if you add the UCR/UCLA and Prime program, it is probably close to a total of 1000.

My guess is that the class size is 124, meaning they accept roughly double that in total (through initial acceptances and wait-list movement)

The regular MD class size is 121, the rest are drew/prime/ucr. UCR/ucla has 200-250 applicants (im not sure how many interviews) The number accepted to regular MD is 240, but the number accepted for charles drew and prime is not readily available online. As for the number accepted to regular MD, I actually found it from my subscription to US news (the adcom sends the data to the website) although the data is from 2010.
Btw, when was your interview day?

This sort of runs counter to their statement (from admissions people and students) that there is a great deal of waitlist movement, unless they aggressively reject post-interview. In any case, 700 interviewees is a lot.

UCR/UCLA takes 24 students and interviewed only 48 students this year so it's a 50/50 chance!

Theres quite a bit of waitlist movement believe me. I personally know ~15 people who got in the week before orientation who are in my class right now.

At my interview a few weeks ago, we were told that the 240 acceptances were handed out pre-waitlist, and that 15% of everyone on the waitlist were eventually accepted

I was really curious about the bolded (I'm not very optimistic lol). Thanks for sharing!

Haha no problem. But seeing as the adcoms have been telling people different things, not so sure how reliable that statement is.

I truly appreciate that you shared this info with us (ive been curious about this) but one thing confusing me is the fact that the figure stated by some med students on sdn and on the us news subscription is just 240 acceptances (includig waitlist acceptances) In this case, i hope you are right about this
